Dan Gilbert has no regrets

Post-Decision, Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert has been pretty quiet sans one Comic Sans outburst. But since Gilbert ranted on LeBron's choice to go to Miami, we haven't heard much of anything from him. The Cleveland Plain-Dealer did a Q&A with Gilbert and asked him if he had any regrets, about, you know.
My letter was to the fans and supporters of Cleveland. People get a little confused because they think it was a general statement to the world or even to LeBron or to whoever. It really was to the fans and supporters of Cleveland, and I wanted to make sure they knew where I stood and where the franchise stood and how we felt, which apparently was pretty similar to the way they were feeling. No, we don't have any regrets. We're looking forward to the future and we're focused on the future and all that other stuff, but I don't really think about it in that way.
No regrets Gilbert says. And he tries to make the point the letter was just to fans and supports of Cleveland. But the reality is, everybody read it. I can write a love letter dedicated to my dog only intended for my dog to see, but if I post it on the Internet, everybody can see it. And everybody can see that I might be a little crazy.

Gilbert's letter definitely won him some points at the time with his Cleveland fanbase. They were upset, he was upset and his letter expressed everyone's feelings. And it came from the big leader which I'm sure fired up Cavs supporters. But in the long run, it might not have been a great idea. Prior to the letter, probably seven out of 10 NBA fans wouldn't have known who Gilbert was. Now everyone does, down to people that don't even care about the league. And their perception of Gilbert and the Cavs isn't a great one.

Gilbert may have accomplished what he wanted to with the letter and good for him not living with regrets, but if he had it to do over, at least maybe he would've picked a different font.

Dan Gilbert has no regrets

I heard an interview with Dan Gilbert today on a local Cleveland radio station.  He spoke very clearly of his intent to put a good product on the court.  While everyone tried to get him to speak ill of LeBronJames, he said he felt it was counter-productive to live in the past.  He is not afraid to spend money to make the team successful and will not hesitate to make the right moves if they better the team.  With Chris Grant as the new GM and Byron Scott as the new coach I'm interested in seeing what kind of product they put on the court.  My wife is at the game tonight and I'd love to be there too.  Unfortunately our babysitter wasn't available.  Good luck to Dan Gilbert and the Cavs organization this year.  He also urged fans to behave themselves when the Heat play the Cavs on December 2, 2010.  Overall Gilbert is a classy guy.  He spoke for the fans based on the emotion of LeBron turning his back on an organization that had done everything he ever asked and then some.

Dan Gilbert has no regrets

I still love Dan Gilbert's open letter to the fans, he echoed the setiment felt by all here in Northeast Ohio, and quite frankly we don't care what those of you outside of here think.  It was perfect what he said, finally someone stopped sucking off LeBron James (not to worry though, ESPN picked up the slack moments later).  Time will tell if he can lure another player here, because Money talks...and this guy is a Billionaire and I know plenty of NBA'ers that would suck it up in the freezing Snow belt if there are enough digits on his paycheck.

Dan Gilbert has no regrets...but Cavs fans will

...when management fails to land any decent free agents over the next 2-3 years. His rant was immature, unprofessional, and will only serve to accelerate Cleveland's return to NBA obscurity.

LeBron isn't the classiest guy around but compared with Dan Gilbert, he's Walter Cronkite.

Dan Gilbert has no regrets

Just looking at the East teams and wondering why the Cavs can't get at least the seventh seed?  Seriously.  Boston is the only team in the atlantic; orlando, miami, and atlanta in the southeast, with chicago and maybe milwaukee in the central.  Inidana lacks the talent, detroit lacks the leadership, New jeresy, charlotte,  and toronto speak for themselves, with new york and philly looking to surprise this year.  The wizards could be an up and comer this year, once areanas is gone and wall takes over.  Thats it.  So maybe dan gilbert and the cavs can at least earn a seven seed and send LeBron home early this year.  That would be quite a soothing band-aid.

yea, i see that they picked up a star to replace lebron pretty easily right?
no, they didnt, unless hickson can turn into one, and in all actuality, after seeing that unprofessional display, if you could go somewhere else would you really go to the mistake by the lake
like joakim noah said, at the end of the day its still cleveland
