Per Howard Beck of the New York Times, New York Knicks forward Wilson Chandler has denied being involved in any illegal workouts with the team before the draft. Chandler said he worked out twice, both times in New York.

Obviously, this shouldn't surprise anyone. I'm not saying Chandler is a liar, but as a member of the team in question, he's in a bit of an awkward situation. He knew he'd be asked about these allegations and the team knew he'd be asked. So more than likely, this is the response everyone settled on. And it's certainly possible that Chandler is telling the truth and didn't participate. Sometimes, sources are wrong.

Regardless, there are other players on record having said they participated. So while Chandler's denial means something, it doesn't ruin really everything. Not in the slightest, actually. The Knicks are still in hot water and will likely be seeing a relatively severe punishment in the end.

I'm very surprised it wasn't Pete Thamel that broke this story.......normally he is the first in line to spread unfounded rumors about a young man.......oh hell, I forgot, the kid didn't go to Kentucky.....Pete wouldn't be interested.......Maybe Royce is Pete in Training ???

They are not professional athletes when they are in college, which is when these workouts took place. They aren't professionals until they sign an agent. These rules are in place to protect these players and all teams must follow the same rules, however much they disagree with them.

Professional athletes should be allowed to attend all of the voluntary work outs they want to.  They are professional athletes after all!
