Video: Bosh says the Heat just want to "chill"

Finally, Chris Bosh played a solid game. Against the Suns Wednesday, Bosh put up a season-high 35 points in just three quarters of action. So of course he got the camera time he so desperately wants after the game and he let out a little quote that many have found as interesting.

Basically, in talking about Erik Spoelstra and how he's coaching the team, Bosh talked about how Spoelstra felt like he was loosening up too much. No big deal. But then Bosh let this little line out.

I've watched this video eight times now and I still don't exactly know what Chris Bosh meant. "[Spoelstra] wants to work and we want to chill." Hmm. I need my professional athlete translator here because this one isn't in the handbook.

It makes sense to me that Bosh was implying that Spoelstra has been riding the team harder than expected and that the team has kind of felt like they need to just hang in there and let it all come together. I think that's what Bosh meant.

But the way he phrased it was just odd. "He wants to work, we want to chill." That makes it sound like Spoelstra cares about the things that, you know, make you a great team. Hard work, then harder work and then some more hard work. While Bosh sounds like he just wants to hang in South Beach, get on TV some and then oh yeah, play some hoops. I don't think that's what he meant, but that's what it sounds like.

Thing is though, Bosh is starting to make a habit of saying some dumb things. He's the black sheep of this Miami super-trio and hasn't really held up his end of the deal until he played a team like the Suns that literally doesn't employ an actual power forward. I get the feeling that if you put a mic in front of Bosh's face enough this year, you're going to get some quotable quotes that are head-scratchers.

I'm convinced that the way this sounded isn't what Bosh actually meant but he ought to know better. Especially since most feel like he's sort of "chilled" his entire career. He's never had a reputation for hard work and actually has one for giving up. Maybe it was more of a Freudian slip than anything.

A note to all you haters...

All you dummies who are predicting a Heat flameout are whistling in the dark. Let me get out my “Flash”-light and illuminate you!

I don't care WHAT Bosh meant or even what he said. The only ones who do care already hate the Heat and nothing he – or anyone else – says or does will change their minds.  Miami could knock Boston out of the playoffs, go on to beat LA in the finals and these people will STILL spew their excuses and hatred.

I say "Let Them Hate." What Bosh, or any other player says is SECONDARY to how they perform on the court. I was happy to see him perform the way we expected him to when we got him and I hope he continues to shine because we WILL need him if we hope to beat Boston and LA (the REAL teams to watch... for now...).

you may resume your jealousy and hatred…

He'll have plenty of time to chill when he is watching Celts v Lakers in the Finals in June. What a joke, you know Riley steps in after the allstar break. This is truly a pleasure to watch after that whole circus they had this offseason. Espn practically handed them the Larry O'Brien trophy in August.

Maybe what he meant to say was "gel" instead of "chill". Because if they simply chill and go cold to each other like they are to the media, the circus lights will get even hotter. They need to respond to the pressure by making each other better and stop making excuses for every mistake along the way.

That is exactly why this team will not win a championship. A championship caliber team doesn't want to "chill". They want to work for it and know in the end no one was taking it from them. Thats why Boston why with pierce, allen, and garnett. They were all hungry and wanted that much more than anyone else.

I like Bosh's attitude. I like it a great deal. It's a recipe for defeat. Go Lakers!!!

Bosh is nothing, he was the best player on a crappy team for 7 years, who made youtube videos to get in the all-star game. He can score sometimes and can have some mean-looking dunks on bad defenses but he has no grit, no moxy, whatsoever. Now he is saying ignorant statements to the media on live TV. I have no doubt that these guys want to win, but I don't think they have what it takes to win.  I guess there is still plenty of time for them to suck it up and get after it so they can win .. not 5 not 6 not 7 ... hahhahahahha, what a F-ing joke. Cleveland should stop being bitter and celebrate getting rid of the quitter and be happy for the sign and trade draft picks and a great coach that seems to be doing ok with no superstar prima-donna quitters.
Go Lakers, 3-peat in the bag already.

Don't do it Bosh. We all know that you are the least talented of the three but please don't act like LeBron. Why does the coach have to meet you guys halfway? I'm going to assume at the obvious risk that Bosh saying that they wanted to chill meant that they have everything covered and don't need to work hard to succeed.

i wonder if Jesse Jackson will comment about racism when these guys get "Spo" fired. I'm pretty sure that Filipino Americans are a true minority in the NBA landscape, so it seems like a fitting concern for racism.

And most of all, what is up with them calling their coach "Spo?" His name is Eric Spoelstra. He is the COACH, he should be addressed as Coach. I watched that show "Audibles" on ESPN with K Johnson, T. Dilfer, S.Young, and Herman Edwards. I actually agreed with Keyshawn more on his opinions but listening to say "Herm" while the two QB's called him Coach just showed the lack of respect on his part and why he was benched for a season. Lebron is the same way, getting Paul Silas and Mike Brown fired. I hate the Lakers and the Knicks but when Lebron was referring to Pat Riley as just "Pat" in his "decision," it just made me think, who the hell does he think he is to just refer to Pat Riley as Pat. He was a legend of this game when you were in diapers. Even Larry Bird or Michael Jordan would call Pat Riley "Coach" at least and they were his biggest opponents.

I really was worried about this team dominating the NBA but after seeing these guys' act and their lack of dedication and respect for the game, I am not worried anymore.

Have fun with these guys Miami, not that you are even paying attention anymore.

The only reason Bosh's careers numbers are what they are is because Toronto decided to make a skinny undersized kid "The Man" after Vince Carter was traded, when the offense is run through you every game your going to have a good PPG average, your going to get to the line & hit your that he's basically a third wheel he's not that getting those touches....Hate to break it to you Chris, but your expected to perform.Your not a bench player who happened to have a big game, so shut up & just play the game.Stop spending all your time soaking it up on the beach applying sun tan lotion to D-Wade & Bron Bron & work on your damn game.

Thank god Toronto let go of this guy, I can think of a lot of other ways to spend 16 million.

Shaq said it best...Bosh is "The Ru Paul Of Big Men"

Video: Bosh says the Heat just want to "chill"

I'm no fan of the way the Heat loaded up on talent, nor am I a fan of the way LeBron went about announcing his choice. But I'm not sure I can think of another franchise in any sport that is under the microscope more than the Miami Heat. Especially in this age of 24-hour sports coverage and inane sports-talk shows, I can't think of any team that has more pressure on it to win, win now and win multiple championships. I'm sure some of the vitriol stems from jealousy on the part of fans from other NBA cities. For me, I just want to wait and see how the Heat get accustomed top each other as the season progresses. If they make it to the NBA Finals this season, and I'm not completely convinced that they will, the showdown with the Lakers will be nothing less than epic.
