Miami Heat lose; LeBron James 'not having fun'

Miami Heat forward LeBron James tells reports that he's "not having fun right now." Posted by Ben Golliver heat-stroke Tucked away at the very bottom of the wire report for the Miami Heat's 93-77 loss to the Indiana Pacers Monday night was a six-word quote from Heat star forward LeBron James that said it all.
"We're not having fun right now," James said.
Miami now stands at 8-6. Heat haters will surely cackle at the ugly loss and corresponding disappointment from James, as it reads like a comeuppance of the highest order for a player long known for dancing and goofing off before and during games. This picture, courtesy of HotHotHoops.com, is worth a million words to those preying on Miami's downfall. James' comment is reflective of his team's overall play; you can watch some really ineffective Heat defense broken down at length on NBAPlaybook.com. The video doesn't lie: there's a lack of camaraderie, a lack of going the extra mile, a lack of pinpoint mental sharpness that only develops when entire teams are motivated together. The Heat are missing all of those things right now, and it doesn't feel like a cop out to blame this on the injuries. With co-captain Udonis Haslem going down in such a major fashion and Mike Miller still a ways away from making his return, it's very easily for the rest of the Heat players, including its stars, to slip just a touch mentally, thinking about what the future will look like when the team is back together healthy rather than focusing on the given task at hand. That's a big problem for Miami because they have such a prominent bullseye placed upon them by the rest of the teams in the league. Aside from knocking off the Los Angeles Lakers, there's no better way to generate excitement in your team than by derailing the Miami Championship Express like the Pacers did on Monday.  After the loss, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra looked and sounded just a touch desperate. He, clearly, isn't having much fun either.
"Sometimes you have four or five games where nothing seems to go right."
An accurate statement, given the circumstances. The question for Miami: is that acceptable?  Is their recent defense acceptable? Most importantly, is a no-fun-having LeBron James acceptable? Open questions all, but something needs to change, because Haslem isn't returning any time soon and the race for the Southeast Division crown is on in full force, with the Orlando Magic sitting pretty at 9-4. The Heat and Magic face off on Wednesday night in Orlando. Surely the Magic are looking to return the favor for the walloping Miami put on them back in October, and revenge for Orlando wouldn't be much fun for LeBron James, either.

Miami Heat lose; LeBron James 'not having fun'

I figured they would suck due to the lack of a decent point guard to distribute the ball to these egomaniacs; but I never imagine things could have worked out this well.  I think back to the hand slapping, runway WWE event and can't help to laugh.  Lebron is clearly not the player he was cracked up to be.  Wade would have been much better off with just Bosch and someone along the lines of Chauncey Billups. Did any of the free agent suitors happen to watch Lebronze try and "win" the last game with the Celtics?  He dribbled off his own foot when it really counted.  This either means he threw the game or he sucks.  I think part of him wanted to lose that game so the Cavs didn't make the Finals; as that would have made his "decision" that much more difficult to justify.  And secondly he does suck; and not from lack of overall skill or physical prowess, but from the lack of being able to pay attention when he isn't the one with the ball.  And this NIKE commercial?  What am I supposed to do?  How about get your ego in check before you do anything but stroke a check.  How about don't act like a bag in general with your talents to south beach.  This is a few of the reasons I think you are a girl that won't ever win anything Lebronze, and what AM I supposed to do?

Its ashame, but in our market driven society today, when we crown people "the King"- and they have not won anything- or we worship Madison Ave. created heroes, eventually we will see through the shallow image at what is real.  The truth is simple.  The heat lack CHEMISTRY.  I know, its overrated right- but to sometimes you want the RIGHT PLAYERS, not the "BEST" ONES.    basketball is a team sport- you win together, you defend together, you work together, you create for one another...  1 individual can disrupt and destroy a TEAM.
Lebron is talented, DWADE is a stud... but does that mean they will be great teammates?  WHo knows?  I hope so for their sake...  but really, all star teams rely on individual talent alone-  the great teams rely on each other.
Boston defends as a team better than anyone- THEY BUY INTO the TEAM concept.   LA guards and plays off of one another better than anyone...
Teams win playing defense and playing together-  the HEAT do neither.

Guess he never heard the saying "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it." Then again, maybe he won't 'get it'.
There's a lot more pressure on him now than he ever imagined. He was in a great situation playing near his hometown in Cleveland. He left a bad taste in everyone's mouth in the way he left. Things will never be the same for him. He did this to himself. People are enjoying seeing him lose. In fact, most are rooting for him to lose unless they are Heat fans. Oh well, live and learn. This is a lesson he's being taught the hard way.

I think the Heat will improve, but the whole grandstanding at that rally when LeBron was counting all the rings he was going to win, was so obnoxious and nauseating.  Like, "we're going to 8 peat" before even securing a single ring.  I'm sure this team will eventually be a force in the NBA - that's not the point.  The point is the cocky attitude of counting all those chickens already.  Um, win one first.  Maybe even shut up until then.
