Miami Heat lose; LeBron James 'not having fun'

Miami Heat forward LeBron James tells reports that he's "not having fun right now." Posted by Ben Golliver heat-stroke Tucked away at the very bottom of the wire report for the Miami Heat's 93-77 loss to the Indiana Pacers Monday night was a six-word quote from Heat star forward LeBron James that said it all.
"We're not having fun right now," James said.
Miami now stands at 8-6. Heat haters will surely cackle at the ugly loss and corresponding disappointment from James, as it reads like a comeuppance of the highest order for a player long known for dancing and goofing off before and during games. This picture, courtesy of, is worth a million words to those preying on Miami's downfall. James' comment is reflective of his team's overall play; you can watch some really ineffective Heat defense broken down at length on The video doesn't lie: there's a lack of camaraderie, a lack of going the extra mile, a lack of pinpoint mental sharpness that only develops when entire teams are motivated together. The Heat are missing all of those things right now, and it doesn't feel like a cop out to blame this on the injuries. With co-captain Udonis Haslem going down in such a major fashion and Mike Miller still a ways away from making his return, it's very easily for the rest of the Heat players, including its stars, to slip just a touch mentally, thinking about what the future will look like when the team is back together healthy rather than focusing on the given task at hand. That's a big problem for Miami because they have such a prominent bullseye placed upon them by the rest of the teams in the league. Aside from knocking off the Los Angeles Lakers, there's no better way to generate excitement in your team than by derailing the Miami Championship Express like the Pacers did on Monday.  After the loss, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra looked and sounded just a touch desperate. He, clearly, isn't having much fun either.
"Sometimes you have four or five games where nothing seems to go right."
An accurate statement, given the circumstances. The question for Miami: is that acceptable?  Is their recent defense acceptable? Most importantly, is a no-fun-having LeBron James acceptable? Open questions all, but something needs to change, because Haslem isn't returning any time soon and the race for the Southeast Division crown is on in full force, with the Orlando Magic sitting pretty at 9-4. The Heat and Magic face off on Wednesday night in Orlando. Surely the Magic are looking to return the favor for the walloping Miami put on them back in October, and revenge for Orlando wouldn't be much fun for LeBron James, either.

Gasol sulked his way out of Memhis? Really? He complained about touches one time and it's warranted as the dude is a fricking beast.
Kobe almost raped his way into prison? Is this really the only thing you have on Kobe? Obviously he didn't rape her, come on man. If you have half of a brain, and it seems like you do, you would know that that was a case of someone trying to make some money and nothing more. He cheated on his wife like 95% of all of the other pro athletes and that's it.
Do you remember why Fisher re-signed with the Lakers? I think it was because he has a daughter that requires medical treatment and the only place to get it is LA or New York. Yeah, that's it. You are really going to give grief to probably the most likable guy in the league, he is the player's union president for god's sake. Give me a break.
Why is Lamar crazy again? Just "Crazy Odom"? Good call, is he crazy cause he eats candy? Or is it because he is married to a reality TV star? Totally crazy, you're right.
Artest is pretty much the only person that you make a valid point about but even he has kept his nose clean ever since the incident in Detroit.

For a COMPLETELY revamped team to even be over .500 LET ALONE undefeated in their division is impressive enough

I disagree completelyh.  There is nothing impressive at all about a team with Wade, Lebron and Bosh in the starting lineup sitting at 8-6.  When the Celtics added Garnett and Allen they did not start out 8-6 and there are many other examples.  So much was made of Lebron Wade and Bosh playing together int he Olypics, they've had presean and in season practices and its not like any them are new to the game.  Sorry, 8-6 with a stagnant offense apparently built on taking turns going one on one, and no bench at all --especially without Halem -- is not impressive under any definition.

That said, you are right, there is a lot of time left in this season.  The season is definately not over.  The Heat may get better, although it will have to come through some actual teamwork and effort---less time to "chill"-- and more, not less, minutes for the starters as the bench situation is not likely to improve.

It's hard not to feel some schadenfreude when witnessing this smackdown of hubris. Go Lakers!

Should've came to the Knicks.  You and Stoudemire would be 11-3 right now.  Your fault.

So much for the little three being ready for the challenge of NBA teams bringing there A game every night against them. LBJ is a little baby and had the depth he needed on the Cavs roster ....... oh wait he left them because he didnt have the guts to win there. Well guess what, now you play on a team full of soft players and the fans of miami dont care enough to even go to your games. I hope this team falls apart and we never see superstars all try to be on the same team again. Oh yea and Bosh needs to try and resemble a big man once in a while and post up and rebound.

Theres no such thing as Karma and the Lakers are proof...

Gasol sulked his way out of Memphis, Bryant almost raped his way into prison, Fisher signed a large FA deal with Utah only to "retire" and then "un-retire" and re-join the Lakers and do I even have to say anything about Crazy Odom or Thug Artest?

You're talking about a few guys that want to play together getting some Karmic payback, but what about guys that break the law or test gray areas in rostering rules?  And no Kob-Me didn't allegedly break any laws but Artest sure did.

So if you're looking for Karma to set in, that team would be a prime example.  But after seeing them dominate the league for years, I'm pretty sure thats not the Karma you're talking about...

My prediction, one of those three can get traded and easier to trade as they don't have top notch contracts

The little three all put a target on their back for sure. In typical Labron fashion, it has not produced any results. What is new here??
