Miami Heat lose; LeBron James 'not having fun'

Miami Heat forward LeBron James tells reports that he's "not having fun right now." Posted by Ben Golliver heat-stroke Tucked away at the very bottom of the wire report for the Miami Heat's 93-77 loss to the Indiana Pacers Monday night was a six-word quote from Heat star forward LeBron James that said it all.
"We're not having fun right now," James said.
Miami now stands at 8-6. Heat haters will surely cackle at the ugly loss and corresponding disappointment from James, as it reads like a comeuppance of the highest order for a player long known for dancing and goofing off before and during games. This picture, courtesy of HotHotHoops.com, is worth a million words to those preying on Miami's downfall. James' comment is reflective of his team's overall play; you can watch some really ineffective Heat defense broken down at length on NBAPlaybook.com. The video doesn't lie: there's a lack of camaraderie, a lack of going the extra mile, a lack of pinpoint mental sharpness that only develops when entire teams are motivated together. The Heat are missing all of those things right now, and it doesn't feel like a cop out to blame this on the injuries. With co-captain Udonis Haslem going down in such a major fashion and Mike Miller still a ways away from making his return, it's very easily for the rest of the Heat players, including its stars, to slip just a touch mentally, thinking about what the future will look like when the team is back together healthy rather than focusing on the given task at hand. That's a big problem for Miami because they have such a prominent bullseye placed upon them by the rest of the teams in the league. Aside from knocking off the Los Angeles Lakers, there's no better way to generate excitement in your team than by derailing the Miami Championship Express like the Pacers did on Monday.  After the loss, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra looked and sounded just a touch desperate. He, clearly, isn't having much fun either.
"Sometimes you have four or five games where nothing seems to go right."
An accurate statement, given the circumstances. The question for Miami: is that acceptable?  Is their recent defense acceptable? Most importantly, is a no-fun-having LeBron James acceptable? Open questions all, but something needs to change, because Haslem isn't returning any time soon and the race for the Southeast Division crown is on in full force, with the Orlando Magic sitting pretty at 9-4. The Heat and Magic face off on Wednesday night in Orlando. Surely the Magic are looking to return the favor for the walloping Miami put on them back in October, and revenge for Orlando wouldn't be much fun for LeBron James, either.

Miami Heat lose; LeBron James 'not having fun'

Suck it up, this is what you wanted!

Agreed.  This is what he wanted.  Lebron did not want to be the go to guy in Cleveland or on any team.  He wants to play second fiddle.  He does not want to be like Jordan or Kobe, the player that takes control of the game when they need him too.  Thats why he got the hell out of Cleveland, in hoping that Wade and Bosh would do the heavy lifting, but it is now backfiring because Wade is hurt/fighting with Lebron/over the hill and Bosh is a bust this year.  Unfortunately, I read this article about Lebron and his name is still in the media, so I guess that is really all he wants anyway.

You're not having fun?  Ok, so?  Its your job, you get paid money to do this.  It doesn't matter if you're not having fun.  You still need to do your job work and produce.  Get better as a team, thats the name of the game.  Lebron thought it was gonna be easy, it just isn't.  I have nothing against Lebron but he needs to give this time and just keep working.  They need to learn how to play with each other, their roles.  Wade needs to become the shooter and Bosh has to be more of an inside presence.  Bron needs to accept the role of a PG, nothing wrong with it.  You can still get your points, drive to the basket and dunk as a PG.  But stop crying about you're not having fun.  Millions of people don't have fun at their job.  I'm not usually the one to get on players and compare our job to theirs but this is just absurd.

HAAAAAA!! HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! HAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Thats some funny stuff there!!! That comment there beat Allen Iversons famous "Practice" quote! Its not suppose to be fun when your trying to win your 1st NBA championship. You are suppose to work youe a$$ off so that you want to win more than one and your work ethic continues to improve ala Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.  Ask Magic Johnson was it fun in 1980 when he won his 1st title. He was a rookie that was asked to do what the average rookie is not asked to do. Ask Larry Bird was it fun in 1981 when he won his 1st. Ask Michael in 91 was it fun. I bet he had fun getting smashed by the Bad Boys all those years. Ask anyone that won their first title was it fun. The problem is that all through highschool Price James has always had things handed to him. The as he came into the league with all the hype he thought all the great players would just lay down and give him the throne that he already self-proclaimed was his. He should have learned the first 7 years that no one is gonna GIVE you anything. If you want the NBA title you have to go out and TAKE IT!!!!! I guess he thought team me with D.Wade and Chris Bosh and the rest of the NBA is gonna run from us. No after the decision everyone in the league felt disrespected because all summer all we heard was Heat this and Heat that. Jeff Van Gundy didnt help matters when he compared the Heat to the 95 Bulls and Heat fans everywhere ran with the notion. Now 14 games in they have been humbled and the ship has a leak in it and by the looks of the Miami Heat home arena the natives are restless. This is funny!!!! Lebron is not having fun but rest of the league is at your shortfalls!

The Bulls are a respectable 7-4, have 2 wins on their infamous circus trip already (usually they are lucky to win more than 1 game on that trip), and they haven't even had Carlos Boozer play 1 minute for them yet.   They have played hard under their new coach, Gibson/Noah/Rose all look even better this year than last.  With a healthy Boozer, this team is going to win a lot of games this year and beyond with this talented (and young) core of players.

LBJ, good luck winning those 8 championships you touted at that dumb Miami rally at the beginning of the year.  You could have been humble, and said you'll work hard, and hopefully bring a title back to Miami.  But no, you showboated, said 6 titles wasn't even going to be enough.  You looked like a fool then.  And you'll look even more like a fool soon enough.

When Wade's injuries finally reduce him to a pedestrian player (if they haven't done so already), you will be left with a PF that gets pushed around in the paint, a 50 year old Ilgauskas playing center, and a bunch of below average role players.  I can't wait to see how many trophies you get to visit in other players' trophy cases.  Karma's a byotch, isn't it?

Where's all the sun-baked duds who thought Miami wouldn't lose 10 games this season??  This is playing out exactly like I thought it would - 10 losses before Feb 1st.
