LeBron James of the Miami Heat returned to Cleveland for a game against the Cavaliers in Quicken Loans Arena and Cavs fans greeted him with an assortment of signs and t-shirts. Posted by Ben Golliver
Here's a slideshow of LeBron James signs and shirts worn and held by Cavs fans at The Q during Thursday night's game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat. lebron-james-sign1 This shirt, in Cavs colors, reads: "The Lyin' King. I got a goal, and that's to bring an NBA championship in Cleveland, and I won't stop until I get it. - LeBron James." It features a picture of LeBron James with a mane like Disney's The Lion King. lebron-james-sign2 This sign is a play on the Nike marketing slogan, "Witness." The slogan was used to signify those who had seen James' magical play. "Witless," is obviously a stab at James' sloppy handling of The Decision to leave Cleveland for Miami. lebron-james-sign3 These fans kept it simple, each wearing a letter on their chest that spelled out, "Betrayed." The City of Cleveland and Cavs fans feel a deep sense of betrayal by James' decision to take his talents to South Beach. lebron-james-sign4 Here's a copy of a newspaper sports section that asks, "What should Cleveland do?" It's a play on a recent LeBron James Nike commercial which asked, "What should I do?" There was concern that Cleveland fans would misbehave during the game. lebron-james-sign6 The Cavs. vs. Heat game was televised on TNT and this sign is a play on the station's name. It reads, "The Traitor is in Town Tonight." lebron-james-sign8 Here's another play on the "Witness" marketing campaign by Nike, this time the shirt reads, "Victim." lebron-james-sign9 This shirt commemorates some of Cleveland's biggest sports disappointments and reads, "The Drive. The Fumble. The Shot. The Move. The Decision." The last one is a reference to LeBron James' television special in which he announced he was leaving to join Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade in Miami. lebron-james-sign10 Here's another play on the "Witness" marketing campaign that reads, "Quitness." Some NBA observers believe James quit on the Cavaliers during their 2010 NBA playoff series against the Boston Celtics. lebron-james-sign11 There's a whole bunch of signs in this shot, but the best is "WWMJD." An obvious reference to "What Would Michael Jordan Do?" Jordan has stated he wouldn't have teamed up with fellow stars like James did in teaming up with Wade and Bosh. lebron-james-sign12 This sign reads "Feel the Chill," a reference to comments made recently by Bosh, who said the Heat players wanted to "chill" despite coach Erik Spoelstra wanted them to practice hard. lebron-james-sign14 Here are some Cleveland street vendors selling shirts that read "Queen James" and "Le-Quitter." LeBron has been dubbed "King James," so this is a pretty uncreative play on that nickname. Via Getty Images.  lebron-james-sign15 Here's an entire stand in Cleveland set up to sell shirts that read, "Kiss my [expletive] LeBron." Via Getty Images. lebron-james-sign16 Shredders were set up so that fans could shred all of their old LeBron James memorabilia. Via AP wire. lebron-james-sign18 This collage of signs read: "You're only a prince in Wade's country," "Like Father, Like Son," "Akron hates you, too, LeBron," "Liar Baby Jerk," and "11-8?? Looks like you left your talents in Cleveland. Via AP wire. lebron-james-sign19 These signs read, "LeQuit and the Cheat" with a picture of LeBron James and Heat President Pat Riley, as well as "Punk Move 'Bron," with a picture of Charles Barkley. Via US Presswire. lebron-james-sign13 This last one is pretty crude, reading: "LeBron James. Queen James."

Cavs vs. Heat: LeBron James signs and shirts

It's painfully obvious that a lot of you just don't get it.  I'm a Cleveland sports fan, always have been.  I'm not one of the bitter one though.  Sports is not life and death to me it's just entertainment.  Cleveland fans however have every right to never let go of this grudge.  #6 had an unbelievable opportunity.  He grew up in northeast Ohio, was considered the greatest phenom ever, was fairytaled into a opportunity not only to be the greatest Cleveland sports hero of all time but to be the most beloved basketball player ever, nothing could deminish his rep.  That's obvious by the stories that have surfaced of his entitlement issues since "The Decision" and how not a peep of that was ever uttered before.  To throw away an opportunity like that away is, to a man, the stupidist fuc**** thing I've ever "witness"ed.  Even if he never won a championship in Cleveland, if he would have stayed he would have been beloved forever for supporting his community and staying true to his roots.

In the last year we seen the self inflicted destruction of the 2 cleanest athletes in sports in Tiger and Lebron.  They just can't stay out of their own way.

No one is abandoning their job and family to fling hatred at Lebron James.  Sports has villians and heros my friend, it's like reading a novel or watching or movie.  It's a story line that people follow.  Whether your cheering or booing everyone goes to work the next day and kisses their wife when they come home from the game.  No one is going home and beating their wife because #6 dropped 38 points on the Cavs.  Get real.  The anger and hatred comes from idiots throwing away golden opportunities to galvanize themselves in the people's hearts and minds.  Oh, and your comparison makes no sense...he would have made millions more not quiting on his hometown.  The NBA collective bargaining agreement is set up so big markets can't steal top talent from lower profile cities by allowing them to offer more money and longer deals.  Not to mention the endorsement dollars he threw in the trash by making an ass of himself on national television.  Think before you start criticizing people for following the storyline of sports.  You too busy trying to be smarter then everyone else to realize your just like Lebron...too inside your own head to perceive reality.

Cavs vs. Heat: LeBron James signs and shirts

I love reading all the dumb comments about Cleveland Sports. Are you people stupid? We compete with half the salaries as the Big market teams. In addition, I think the Cavs are as good without LePippen as those poor riduclous 2010 Knicks with a superstar. Or how about the Indians salaries vs lets say the Cubs and Mets? Why does the Browns have the Largest Fan Base in the USA?

Ohio is the heart of it all. If you dont believe me, just tap the guy sitting next to you and ask him where he is from. Ohio Cleveland... Believe that.

LeBron and Cleveland and Miami all suck... Sick of this crap!  Who cares about anything in Ohio anyway, they should just stick to the college teams and get out of the pros.

Cavs vs. Heat: LeBron James signs and shirts

Don't let the media fool ya... I'm from Cleveland and a huge sports fan.  Most people around here don't could care less about the Decision and LeBron anymore. Most people were not suprised that he left, anyone from cleveland with any talent leaves... we're used to it.  What upsets all of us Clevelanders is the fact that he screwed the team by leading them on then dumping us when it was to late to go after any other free agents, the fact that he snubbed the city that embrassed him on National Television, and the fact that he quit on the team in the playoff's because it would have been to hard for him to leave if he won a championship here.  Funny, that elbow hasn't bothered him since the Celtics game .... hmmm.

Trust me.... most people don't give a crap anymore.  Don't let the media fool ya.  Heck I didn't even watch the game last night.

Cavs vs. Heat: LeBron James signs and shirts

What is the difference between these shirts and what the red sox did when Johnny Damon left? How come "Looks like Jesus. Acts like Judas. Throws like Mary." t-shirts are funny but you think the people wearing shirts about Lebron clearly have something wrong with them?
