The son of former NBA player Nick Van Exel reportedly confessed to committing a murder in Texas.  Posted by Ben Gollivernick-van-exel

WFAA.com out of Dallas is reporting that the son of former NBA All-Star Nick Van Exel has confessed to murdering his neighbor in Texas on Wednesday night.
Nickey Van Exel, son of former Dallas Mavericks player Nick Van Exel, was arrested Wednesday night in connection with a recent murder.
Bradley Bassey Eyo was found shot to death near Lake Ray Hubbard the day after Christmas. Investigators determined he was murdered at a Garland home in the 6900 block of George Brown Drive and his body later dumped at the lake, less than a mile away.
Police said 20-year-old Nickey Van Exel turned himself in Wednesday and confessed to the crime. He's a neighbor of the victim.
WFAA.com also reports that Nickey Van Exel is being held on a $1 million bond. The elder Van Exel, who is just 39 years old, retired after the 2005-2006 NBA season after playing 13 seasons in the NBA. He spent his early years with the Los Angeles Lakers before bouncing around the Western Conference, making stops with the Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, Portland Trail Blazers and San Antonio Spurs. He averaged 14.4 points and 6.6 assists for his career and made an All-Star game in 1998.  Known for his explosive scoring ability and quickness off the dribble as a player, Van Exel joined the Atlanta Hawks coaching staff as Player Development Instructor this fall.

Being in jail is not living.

I don't know where you learned about jail or who you learned about jail from, but it's not the country club you just made it out to be.

The kids life is over.

Report: Nick Van Exel's son confessed to murder

Well I actually know Lil Nick personally and I also know that that was his best friend and he would have never did anything to hurt him. Its sad that such a careless accident happen and resulted in his friends life being lost.  Unfortunately when things happen like this more than one family loses. What surprise me is that people on here feel that since he had a famous father that an accident of this magnitude could not happen to him. He is HUMAN know matter who his father is. And as for the people making comments about him being ghetto obviously don't actually know the family because if they did they would know that NO part of that family is ghetto and Lil Nick wasn't raised in the Ghetto! He realizes his mistakes and understands that there are consequences to his actions and is prepared for it. However it is wrong for people to make assumptions about something that they were not there to witness. You don't know what went on in that room only Lil Nick, Brad and God do. Instead of getting on his case because who his father is, who in fact has always played a part in his life, try to look at as your son are daughter being in this same situation...just maybe your comments wouldn't be so harsh! We all are gonna be judged one day I'm just glad its by God! Be blessed and hopefully none of you have to face this tragedy in your life.

"Two human beings lives are over"

UHHUHH8:  You are wrong with the above statement.  Truly only one life is over.  That is the kid that was killed.  Little Nickey still has a beating heart and gets to draw breaths everyday.  I am sure his life in prison will be filled with reading books, playing cards and hoops and getting tattoos.

Report: Nick Van Exel's son confessed to murder

It's all fun and games to you jokers from behind a computer screen, right? Then something tragic happens to you or somebody close to you and you cry yourself to sleep asking God why.

Just be careful. Be careful of what you say or do and who you say or do it to, because clearly you've yet to see the entire world. The real world is not always as pretty as this internet world.

Look, all I'm saying is another young man will be spending the rest of his life in jail, and another young man is dead. Shouldn't we treat it as that? It doesn't matter what race they are, what type of lifestyle they led, or who their parents are.

Two human beings lives are over.

If you can't find it in your heart, shoot even if you can, to recognize that, it's time we all start looking in the mirror a little deeper.

Report: Nick Van Exel's son confessed to murder

Seeing that Nick Van Exel fathered this kid so young, he probably was focused on his career, not focused on raising a son. Nick likely threw money at the kid and that's it, so this is the irresponsible kid that results. It's not limited to the ghetto. Parents, both black and white, can have no idea how to raise kids. Time, love and teaching are an investment in the kid's future. If you don't invest, you'll get a murderer, thief, drug dealer or lazy human being. This is all speculation on my part, but we've all seen the results of poor parenting, and this tragic case fits the mold.

Report: Nick Van Exel's son confessed to murder

Destiny_Driven: Do you know Nickey Van Exel personally? I hope so because your post sure seems to indicate you do. I have no idea what this kid's relationship with his father was. Nick was 19 when he fathered this child. I knew Nick when he was in high school at Kenosha St. Joe's, and the guy wasn't exactly always Mr. Congeniality. But I have no idea how this kid grew up, if his father was involved, if he shared in the spoils of his dad's wealth or his attitude or anything about him. I'm assuming there will be more info coming out in the next few days to tell us what sort of life Nickey had growing up. But it's hard to determine what his attitude toward life was at this point, unless you knew him pretty well.

Report: Nick Van Exel's son confessed to murder

Just another case of a kid growing up with a silver spoon in his mouth from Daddy's millions, not learning to value his life or the lives of others.  The problem with Silver Spoons is they have an obsession over entitlement.  They think that the world revolves around them and that all of us are there to be their subordinates.  I guess Nicky's neighbor had a problem with that attitude, so little Nicky put a bullet in his brain just to teach him a lesson.  Besides, that is no way to kill a person!  You dip them in brown gravy and then put them in a room with a rabid pit bull who is high on angel dust.  Now THAT is the way to kill someone, and.....the dog eats the evidence too!
