The National Basketball Association has officially announced the starters for the Eastern and Western Conference All-Star teams. Posted by Ben Golliver.

The NBA officially announced the Eastern Conference and Western Conference starters for the 2011 NBA All-Star Game on Thursday.

For the Eastern Conference: Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade, Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose, Miami Heat forward LeBron James, New York Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire, and Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard.

For the Western Conference: New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul, Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant and Houston Rockets Yao Ming.

Of the 10 names selected, there were no real surprises, as all had established themselves fairly strongly during the balloting process. The biggest snubs? For the East: probably Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, although Rose is difficult to argue. For the West: Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki should be there, as should every center that actually played more than five games this season.

Bryant was the leading vote-getter for the Western Conference; Howard was the leading vote-getter for the Eastern Conference.

Here's a look at the jerseys this year's All-Stars will be wearing.

The 2011 All-Star game will be played in Los Angeles, California, at the Staples Center on February 20.

If Dwight was a center on a team in the west he would be THE center for the All Star Game.

Hopefully Rose doesn't waste the talent on his team by driving it to the line . Le Bron, Wade, Howard and Stoudemire are a perfect line up for someone like Rondo who would have a field day with the assists, possibly set a new record.

While there is some truth in that, 44% shooting still isn't good for anybody, and it puts Rose in the bottom half of the entire league in shooting(http://www.cbssports.com/nba/stats/

PCT?&print_rows=9999). If Rose is double teamed, he should consider passing the ball instead of forcing up the shot, especially if we're talking about him as a point guard.

rondo does not shoot threes anywhere close to how rose does so that will bring down roses percent a few points and rose is double teamed quite often and rondo rarely ever is

Yes, it is ridiculous that Yao is voted in, but as long as the voting is public, it is a popularity contest, and Yao is very popular in China where there are over a billion people.  That's what one has to remember, the starters are the most popular players at each position, not necessarily the best players at each position.

Is it sad that I voted for 3 players in the West that are not starting but each have very very very much better stats than the player starting over them? People are insane, Bryant? Anthony? Ming?
I understand that Bryant is starting but definetly should not have had that many votes.
Anthony over Love and Griffin is one of the worse of all time.
Ming is questionable, although he isnt playing anywhere anytime in 2011 he has better stats than most Centers in the West. People are crazy for voting for him but this will only help the West because instead of Bynum getting in at starter, a PF will play the position giving Love a spot on the team

Dwight leads East in votes because there are no other decent centers in the Eastern Conference.

Ok.  Yao Ming gets the most votes to start at center.  Why doesn't the NBA take his name off the ballot?  Seriously, this is buffoonery, and it's not the first time it's happened concerning Yao.   This can't keep happening.
I voted. I didn't vote for Yao. Am I the only one who knows Yao hasn't played since November?  They have to re-evaluate the voting process.  The kids voting in China must cast their ballots during the summer vacation.
