Video of Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett getting ejected after a dirty play on Phoenix Suns big man Channing Frye. Posted by Ben Golliver.

The Phoenix Suns were leading the Boston Celtics, 80-69, with roughly four minutes to go in the fourth quarter down in the desert, when all heck broke loose. It all started when Phoenix Suns big man Channing Frye attempted a three-pointer, and Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett closed out to defend. As part of the close out, Garnett extended his right hand and contacted Frye fairly lightly in the genital region, and he also slid his right foot underneath Frye, causing Frye's left foot to come down on Garnett's right foot, which led to an awkward landing.

Frye came to the ground without twisting his ankle too badly and initially doubled over in pain, clutching his groin. Soon after, though, Frye got up and got directly into Garnett's face, as Garnett pretended like he didn't know what had happened and why he had been whistled for a foul. Frye clearly took issue with Garnett's action and yelled at him directly, and the two players touched foreheads as they jostled. Suns big man Marcin Gortat and official Steve Javie tried to act as intermediaries to break up the scuffle, but the scrum quickly grew in numbers as members of both teams got in on the pushing and shoving action.

Here's video that shows the post-foul scrum and then multiple replays from different angles of Garnett's foul on Frye.

After everyone settled down, the officials engaged in a lengthy review. The result: Garnett was whistled for a foul on the play, a double technical was called on Garnett and Frye, and then Garnett was issued a second technical foul and was ejected. Celtics center Kendrick Perkins and Celtics guard Nate Robinson were also assessed technical fouls for their roles in the scrum.

The official explanation for Garnett's ejection: he was assessed the first technical for his initial actions in scuffling with Frye and the second technical was for continuing to jaw after the fact.

The Suns held on to close out the home win over the Celtics, 88-71.

Kevin Garnett ejected after dirty play on Frye

Kevin Garnett is a dirty player.  How much of this dirty play has he gotten away with?  Enough said.  He just got caught in Phoenix.  Go SUNS!

Kevin Garnett ejected after dirty play on Frye

Hey Buzz,
Here is a quote from the story above, "The official explanation for Garnett's ejection: he was assessed the first technical for his initial actions in scuffling with Frye and the second technical was for continuing to jaw after the fact."
As you can read, he was given the second technical for being a trash talking baboon.
Also, you were defending Garnett in your first post. And if you think that KG should be treated the same as every other play in the NBA when it comes to these types of situations, you do not understand the concept of precedent.
keep drinking that New England kool-aid

Kevin Garnett ejected after dirty play on Frye

Hey, Zuze, where did I defend Garnett? I said he committed a foul. But what did he do to warrant two technicals (one, yes; two, no)? And why wasn't Channing Frye ejected, when he started the entire thing? And why didn't Pietrus at least get a technical, if not ejected, for his elbow to Garnett's throat?

I never defended Garnett, and still am not defending him. Just wondering why the Suns didn't get equal treatment (like wondering why Frye got three shots for his foul, when it happened well after the shot).

Learn how to read above a third-grade level before you start talking about "third-grade stuff"

Kevin Garnett ejected after dirty play on Frye

Pure and simple, Garnett is a dirty player.  The last game they played The Magic in Boston, he did all he could to aggravate Howard and other Magic players.  The shame of it all is he is a very gifted player and does not have to resort to such tactics.  Boston will do whatever they have to do to win, even if it is playing dirty, and their dirtiest player is Kevin Garnett.  You have to give the shooter room to come down!!!!  To me, that is one of the nastiest fouls one can commit.  Sadly, I think some basketball players think it is cute.

Nice!!! Red Sox logo guy and Celtics flag guy are the only two defenders of KG. Take off those clover leaf glasses buzzard and see the truth. Kevin Garnett is an Alfa Hotel. It doesn't matter if he got elbowed in the mouth and lost a tooth, you cannot blast someone in the balls. That is 3rd grade stuff and totally uncalled for.

Kevin Garnett ejected after dirty play on Frye

Garnett didn't get in Pietrus' face. Pietrus threw an elbow at Garnett (far worse than anything Garnett did all game, yet didn't get ejected), and then Pietrus got in Garnett's face like K.G. did something wrong.

Granted, what he did to Frye was a foul, but Frye trying to get up and act all tough was a joke. He starts the entire thing, and only gets one technical? And Garnett gets ejected? That's a joke, too.

Anybody on the Suns trying to act tough is ridiculous when you have guys like Gortat (7-feet, 270 pounds) flopping when Rajon Rondo (6-feet, 180 pounds) gets near him.

Kevin Garnett ejected after dirty play on Frye

This was so obviously a dirty play that only a dude with a Red Sox logo for his picture is defending Garnett. Earlier in the game KG set a screen and got blasted right in the mouth. Unlike a normal player who would have shrugged it off and kept batting, Mr. Kevin decided it would be a good idea to go all gangster on it and get in the guy's face. Hey KG, way to go!!! You are really doing a lot for the Association's image by getting up in a dude's grill that was trying to fight through a screen. So, Kevin wants to get even because he has been done such a disservice... Dear KG, when you instantly try to look as innocent as possible after bag tagging someone, it makes you look as guilty as ever. Like anyone would believe you anyway...Wasn't it you that was dropping cancer blasts during your pathetic trash talking rants? Maybe KG should switch his nickname to OG because he is much more a ruthless thug than a baller. GO PACK GO

Did KG tell you he "meant" to tap Frye in the stomach?  Because it seems like you him and talk to him personally.  KG is a punk you can't deny it, but it is the NBA so its not saying much.  He was intentionally trying to hurt the shooter, so that means he is on the All-NBA D Team?  That is an absolute punk move.  The shooter is defenseless in the air, so I am a big great defender im just going to put my foot where he's suppose to land.  That's just stupid, but according to you everyone that makes the defensive team must do it.
