Video of Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett getting ejected after a dirty play on Phoenix Suns big man Channing Frye. Posted by Ben Golliver.

The Phoenix Suns were leading the Boston Celtics, 80-69, with roughly four minutes to go in the fourth quarter down in the desert, when all heck broke loose. It all started when Phoenix Suns big man Channing Frye attempted a three-pointer, and Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett closed out to defend. As part of the close out, Garnett extended his right hand and contacted Frye fairly lightly in the genital region, and he also slid his right foot underneath Frye, causing Frye's left foot to come down on Garnett's right foot, which led to an awkward landing.

Frye came to the ground without twisting his ankle too badly and initially doubled over in pain, clutching his groin. Soon after, though, Frye got up and got directly into Garnett's face, as Garnett pretended like he didn't know what had happened and why he had been whistled for a foul. Frye clearly took issue with Garnett's action and yelled at him directly, and the two players touched foreheads as they jostled. Suns big man Marcin Gortat and official Steve Javie tried to act as intermediaries to break up the scuffle, but the scrum quickly grew in numbers as members of both teams got in on the pushing and shoving action.

Here's video that shows the post-foul scrum and then multiple replays from different angles of Garnett's foul on Frye.

After everyone settled down, the officials engaged in a lengthy review. The result: Garnett was whistled for a foul on the play, a double technical was called on Garnett and Frye, and then Garnett was issued a second technical foul and was ejected. Celtics center Kendrick Perkins and Celtics guard Nate Robinson were also assessed technical fouls for their roles in the scrum.

The official explanation for Garnett's ejection: he was assessed the first technical for his initial actions in scuffling with Frye and the second technical was for continuing to jaw after the fact.

The Suns held on to close out the home win over the Celtics, 88-71.

Kevin Garnett ejected after dirty play on Frye

BTW, I've yet to find a single accounting of the game that amplifies what Van Gundy reported about 34% of the Technicals this season being rescinded after the fact.

Another way of looking at that is that NBA Refs are making the wrong call on Technicals 1 out of every 3 times! That's a horrendous ratio. And we saw that lack of good judgement on display tonight by Javie.

I guanatee that one if not both of the T's on Garnett will be rescinded, and I wouldn't be surprised if Nate's is rescinded as well. Perk's was 50/50 at best . . . especially when you consider he did nothing different than Gortat who somehow didn't get one at all.

In case you missed the bulletin, KG is on his way to the Hall of Fame. Also, no one was hurt in this game.

Should Javee have called a foul on Garnett for the placement of his foot? Yes.

Did Channing Frye play up the contact that he recieved in the act of taking a shot (behind the arc)? Yessir.

And as soon as the whistle blew (and Frye knew he had his 3 free throws) did Frye then jump up attempt to headbutt and succesfully shove KG? Yep.

Did KG shove back? NOPE.

Did KG deserve a T? Nope.

Did Frye? Yes.

In the end it didn't matter, the C's played as awful as the ref's whistle was tonight and deserved the loss.

Kevin Garnett ejected after dirty play on Frye

What are you a Lakers fan? Disgruntled T-Wolves fan? What is it that makes you post 4 videos that all require the imagination of the viewer to believe what you state. None of what is depicted in that video is exclusive to Garnett. Nor is any of it nearly as dirty as you want it to be. I think you need to spend a little more time watching the NBA.

I had absolutely no problem with Garnett being called for the foul on Frye tonight - because of where his foot was placed and the danger it presented to Frye when landing. As for the love tap - completely overblown - as was Frye's reaction which was no different than anyone else attempting to draw a foul after contact in the act of shooting (particularly from beyond the arc).

When Frye heard the whistle (mission accomplished) he then jumped up and escalated the incident with an attempted head butt and push of Garnett - for which Garnett was somehow issued 1/2 of a Double Technical. Garnett shouldn't have been whistled for that or the 2nd T. How Perkins and Robinson were rung up for T's is beyond me, especially when Gortat walked away without one.

Overall Javie's whistle was just as bad as the play on the court tonight. The Suns did not play exceptionally well, but the Celts played uninspired disorganized uncharacteristic basketball tonight and they deserve the loss.

What they didn't deserve was to lose Garnett or Rivers.

Kevin Garnett ejected after dirty play on Frye

You can not be serious. That idiot KG put his foot under Frye everytime I saw Frye shoot the ball. Billions of people on the internet and you're the dumbest one. By far. Garnett shouldn't even be allowed to keep being paid to play this game. He's a cheap shotting little bitch. He's paid to show up and play hard. Not hurt people. Also, if you're going to have "genius" in your name you should type like you've at least finished high school and paid attention for most of it. You should get in line for an ass kicking right behing KG.

Kevin Garnett ejected after dirty play on Frye

Refs blew everything out of porportion...he barely touched the guy and his acting job made him fall awkaerdly-  I have hit in the balls and it hurts like a --, you don't get right up!  It took me a good 5 to ten minutes before it started to calm down.  No way, you can get right up like that.  As far as sliding the foot, that is too subjective but his putting up his hands kinds gived him away a little.  I didn't think much about the foot as Frye was acting like a little girl, then got tough...too funny.  Who noticed when Garnett circled around close to him Frye couldn't look at him, or didn't want to look at him.   KG should have gotten a foul and that's it while Frye should have gotten a Technical and that satchswat getting inbetween pushing.  Nate and Perkins came in to stop satchwat from pushing acting like he was breaking something up.  Satchswat was more of a cause for the melee that followed and it was hardly anything out of control.    Refs really over reacted like Jerry Lewis.  Refs should be fined and owe Doc and KG an apology.  Garbett deserved a foul on the play and that is it.  He had a right to get upset on the T as he only defended his personal space as Frye jumped into his face.  Anyone that thinks otherwise has a hidden agenda-

Kevin Garnett ejected after dirty play on Frye

Another page added to the resume of Kevin Garnett, slimepot extraordinaire. Had he played his entire career in a big-market city, instead of showcasing his talents in the NBA backwater of Minneapolis, we'd have come to see much more of his prowess, if you want to call it that.
