Kobe Bryant compares Carmelo trade to aliens

The Los Angeles Lakers deny interest in trading for Denver Nuggets all-star forward Carmelo Anthony. Posted by Ben Golliver. carmelo-anthony-lakers

Yesterday, we noted a report that the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers were engaged in some talks surrounding All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony and big man Andrew Bynum.

Upon further discussion in our Eye On Basketball roundtable, we generally agreed that it didn't make a ton of sense for the Lakers, given the timing, the loss of Bynum from their front line, money owed to Anthony and his questionable fit in the immediate short-term.

Now comes word from the Los Angeles Times that the Lakers were equally skeptical at the notion of the trade.
But the Lakers denied it was on the table in the first place and insisted team executive Jim Buss and General Manager Mitch Kupchak were on the same page as far as trade opportunities.
Coach Phil Jackson chuckled at the rumors in general after the Lakers practiced Wednesday in Boston. “I haven't even entertained it,” Jackson said of trading for Anthony. “My first thought is why are these [media] people interrupting my life with these kind of rumors.”
Leave it to Lakers star Kobe Bryant to deny the rumors with a great one-liner.
“We don't really deal with the unknowns,” he said. “You might as well talk about UFOs, too.”
In related news, extraterrestial sources close to the planet Mars tell me that the Milky Way galaxy has expressed interest in Lakers forward Ron Artest. The galaxy is said to value Artest's defensive intensity and ability to "think outside the Earth."

In case you missed it: today's other Carmelo Anthony headlines...

Kobe Bryant compares Carmelo trade to aliens

The inmates run the asylum, that's why the NBA is a joke now.

David Stern needs to grow a pair and start fining all players and owners alike for all of this insider communicating if this league ever wants to be taken seriously.

Not all teams do this, but it's almost all scripted now.

Almost like professional wrestling.

Kobe Bryant compares Carmelo trade to aliens

Yeah MJ won a bunch of rings with the help of Tim Donaghy's organized crime friends. Right like that really holds up in comparison. There are a lot of great players to play this game. Kobe certainly has far surpassed Jordan in every aspect of the game, but because the NBA has allowed organized crime to interfere with the results of its games the league championships are tainted every single year. The game is the dirties team sport because of this, and yes even dirtier than Major League Baseball.

Don't think she ruined him, but Kobe just put himself in a bas place thinking with the wrong part of his body part.  It won't displace him from his status.

We miss the point!  Reporters throw these rumors outso if they come true they can say it was reported here first.  Kobe will go down as one of the all time greats with many others.  Not a big MJ fan, but I think he is still number one.  So many all time greats.  Look at Robertson, Pettit, Russel, Jabbar, Magic, Baylor.  A lot seem to be Lakers. Just because you value a player as a all time great, does that make you a homer.  I think many of those players were great and I wish that they were former Lakers.

Kobe Bryant compares Carmelo trade to aliens

lol...i found it "great".

That is your opinion....and opinions are like a__holes....everyone has one :)

Carry on, hater.

What exactly about that quote was great?
And why is it that when one disagrees with poor journalism that favors King Kobe, the opposition is a hater?

Kobe was a great ballplayer but #1, he's past his hayday. #2, and more importantly he NEVER was the best ever. Nobody has come close to what MJ has done. You can be an LA homer, but have a little objectivity.
Here's a simple math problem for you dummies:
MJ wins 3 in a row, leaves for 2 years and the Bulls cant put their panties on straight. He comes back and they 3 peat again.
Coincidence? You do the math.
