DeMarcus Cousins was suspended by the Kings late Saturday night following a locker room incident involving Donté Greene.

DeMarcus Cousins is arguably already the league's most volatile player. Prone to fights with opponents and even his own coaches, it would seem his frustrations have now boiled over into conflict with teammates. FanHouse reports that Cousins has been suspended for at least the upcoming three-game roadtrip following a locker room altercation with Donté Greene that came to blows. Perhaps most stunning is the source of the argument. Cousins has reportedly become increasingly upset about Tyreke Evans' late game decision making and the coaching staff's reaction, culminating in Cousins yelling at Evans following the Kings' loss to the Thunder Saturday night, "from (the) tunnel to the locker room."

Cousins has already been fined by the coaching staff, kicked out of practice, and benched for a premature choking gesture. In-between he's averaging 14 points and 8 rebounds, grabbing 17% of all available boards, shooting 44% from the field (a huge blemish) and has a league-average-ish PER of 15. He's a player with tremendous upside and ability, who just wants to win. But there are ways of dealing with that kind of passion, and Cousins has expressed all the wrong ones.

The Kings have to find a structure to rebuild around, and if Cousins and Evans are incompatible, that's going to have to be established early. GM Geoff Petrie was right to act quickly and try and snuff this but furthermore, if the Kings decide Evans is the future and they can't rectify this rift, one of them will have to go. Furthermore, Paul Westphal and Petrie will have to figure out if the kid is worth the considerable headache he's providing them by continually being this much of a pain.  Good teams can't afford distractions of this magnitude, especially out of a rookie, let alone struggling squads like the Kings.

Aparently you don't get it. By staying in college he learns to grow up and not act like a high schooler in a mans game. As many turn overs this guy creats he can not blame anyone else on the court for not winning. The Kings have lost no less than a dozen games because this imature dope lost the ball, passed it to no one or forced a horrible shot. Do you remember one game he took a great shot in and the Kings won? He now is on the radar of every ref in the league because of his tantrums and whiny ways. He has a huge upside talent with just as huge pain in the backside.

The Kings can't be surprised by this, can they? The most predictable player in last year's draft was Cousins...a talented headache.

traj...westpaul has still forgotten more than DC will ever know. he had the same problem in college. and your insperation is the million$ contract he has, also if he's frustrated after 4 bad months he's in the wrong profession. 80% of nba players dont enjoy team success. he was a punk in college and nothing has changed but the day on the calender

LOL, Did you even read the article?? How does this have anything to do with money or coming out early. So if he would have stayed in College, he would have been used to losing? Or would they have taught him how to accept your teammates not putting forth the effort. And if you don't watch basketball, why are you posting on basketball issues?

The NBA should let this kids come out earlier and when they are younger...just joking...this is the product of a young person coming out of college after one year...These guys are not old enough to make that type of money and live that type of life...this is why i do not watch the NBA...After Jordan left the league is a joke...

He does have wit's, now a anger problem sure. I don't know if you have every played on a team that plays with no passion. But it can drive you mad, couple that with a anger problem and it equals trouble. I assume you guys posting have a job, right. Lets put this in context of a regular 9-5, you and your coworkers are set to do a task as a group. You bust your butt to get things organized and in order but your coworks are goofing off the whole time. Not putting forth the effort needed to get the job done correctly, and when you take the issue to your superiors they just brush you off because as a Boss they are just as clueless (westpaul). What do you do? In our world we cannot do anything but maybe look for another job. It's like those Career builder commercials, one guy and a whole bunch of monkeys. Cousins is the guy trying to get his job done while the others are just goofing off collecting a check. I will never condemn a guy who wants to win, even if that will to win causes friction with the team. Maybe the need it because whatever they are doing sure isn't working.

Trajihk - It is impossible for someone to be at "wit's end" if they lack wit.  I agree this guy plays with passion and wants to win, but his passion is unrestrained and he is consistnetly volatile.  He needs counseling - I agree with the post that said this will only get worse.

VOID his contract for conduct detramental to the team. if he's acting this way 4 months into his career it will only get worse. he should have to work the drive thru at mcdonalds for a month to see how lucky he is.
