It looks like the Knicks are finally stepping up to the plate. Ken Berger tweeted Friday afternoon, "A person with knowledge of trade talks tells that Melo will get his wish: a legit trade proposal to ponder by the end of All-Star Weekend."

Well, it looks like that offer may actually be on the table.

Yahoo! Sports is reporting that New York has indeed made an offer to the Nuggets for Carmelo Anthony that would send Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, Eddy Curry's contract and a to-be-acquired first-rounder to Denver. Also headed to the Knicks would be Chauncey Billups and "fillers."

Newsday's Alan Hahn tweeted that a source confirms the proposed trade.

The "to be acquired first-rounder" would almost assuredly be Minnesota's for Anthony Randolph, as that has been discussed for a while. As for why Gallinari, reportedly the Nuggets had an option to pick between him and rookie Landry Fields and preferred Gallinari.

With an actual deal on the table from the team that Melo will approve, this thing could actually be headed for a conclusion. Berger tweeted, "Source on Melo's desire to reach a resolution by weekend's end: 'He'll get something.'"

After giving max deals Amare and Melo, you may not have the money to pay Chris Paul.  Its far from a done deal that he will come to Madison Square Garden.

As a Knick fan, this gives me a totally sinking feeling.  Give up BOTH Gallinari AND Felton AND Chandler AND Randolph ...what: so Amare and Melo can see who hogs the ball most as they stand tall among the scrubs?!  So we can suposedly wait on CP3 to form our own axis of weasel to rival the Heat?  This is nuts.  I feel as though Isisah and Checketts have reinvaded the building.  Donnie--have you gone nuts?!

Report: Knicks have offer on the table for Melo-

I know that this year feels like a revival for you since you guys have sat in the toilet since Patrick retired, but your strategy for sitting in the cellar and waiting for the rest of the league to come back to you is imbecilic at best.  Wake the hell up you're 28-26, two games above .500.  The only reason you're even in contention for a playoff spot is because as usual, the east SUCKS!  There are 14 teams in the NBA that today have a better record than the Knicks, today! They are not an elite team.  Elite teams have All-Stars, the Knicks have their first All-star starter in what 10 (Amare) years?!?  The are a middle of the road team and first round out with their current roster, if they make the post season.  Take a look at NBA history for the past twenty years, all the contenders had at least two All-Stars.  The Knicks have one.  They are not, I repeat NOT contenders!!! Gallinari, Felton, and Chandler are roll players, Melo is a perenial All-Star!!!  These guys they are giving up combined don't add up to Melo!  I like Felton, he'd be a nice piece, but it's inconsequential, because getting Melo gets you Paul in 2012, Billups can hold the fort until then...  Gallnari is not Dirk, he's a role player, he's Horace Grant and did just fine without him.  The funny thing I keep hearing from crack pot Knick fans who want to keep Gallinari is Melo doesn't play D'.  Well the 6'10" Gallinari doesn't rebound (Knicks fourth leading rebounder) or block shots (paltry .38 per game).  Melo averages almost 3 more boards and doubles up the blocks, while not wholly impressive, that from the wing not the 4 spot.  I don't to hear the money arguement, since the signing of Amare was all it took for the Knicks to takeover  the richest franchise from the Lakers.  Imagine how much money adding Melo will bring to MSG.  Melo and Amare will make the Knicks beasts in the weak east and put them more in line with the talent-laden Celtics and Heat!

He stated he doesn't want to be a "rental" and was getting upset the Knicks weren't trying to get him.  Word is he would sign a 3 year extension with the Nets if the Knicks didn't step up, and you cant let him slip through with Amare.  Plus it might be Fields not Gallo.

having MELO is a huge plus for my knicks. but getting rid of all those players thats been playing exceptionally well
so far will be bittersweet. but you really cant compare MELO and his #'s on the court to gallo, felton and chandler. MELO
alone will give more points and rebs per game than those three players produce each game.

i am ok with this trade cuz knicks will be getting billups who can replace felton although felton has been great but billups
is an experienced player with winning status. cant beat that. and knicks will keep landry.

the only thing is that if melo does end up with the knicks, stoudemires scoring will decline not dramatically but will def drop
about 3-5ppg. stoudemire will never have a streak of scoring 30plus or even 20plus as hes been able to do 1st half of the season.

Knicks will still need a lot of back up players if they trade 4 of their starters for carmelo and billups. it will be a process and not an easy one.

Minnesota is crazy giving up a NO. 1 pick for Anthony Randolph.  This league is fixed.
