It looks like the Knicks are finally stepping up to the plate. Ken Berger tweeted Friday afternoon, "A person with knowledge of trade talks tells CBSSports.com that Melo will get his wish: a legit trade proposal to ponder by the end of All-Star Weekend."

Well, it looks like that offer may actually be on the table.

Yahoo! Sports is reporting that New York has indeed made an offer to the Nuggets for Carmelo Anthony that would send Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, Eddy Curry's contract and a to-be-acquired first-rounder to Denver. Also headed to the Knicks would be Chauncey Billups and "fillers."

Newsday's Alan Hahn tweeted that a source confirms the proposed trade.

The "to be acquired first-rounder" would almost assuredly be Minnesota's for Anthony Randolph, as that has been discussed for a while. As for why Gallinari, reportedly the Nuggets had an option to pick between him and rookie Landry Fields and preferred Gallinari.

With an actual deal on the table from the team that Melo will approve, this thing could actually be headed for a conclusion. Berger tweeted, "Source on Melo's desire to reach a resolution by weekend's end: 'He'll get something.'"

Report: Knicks have offer on the table for Melo

DOLAN LISTEN UP U FRIGGIN MANIAC!!!!

TOP REASONS WHY YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS TRADE:

1)Gallo- Total Allstar potential, 6'10'', shoots out the gym, gets to the line (much more so as of late), plays D, and uhh HELLOOOOO he's only in his 2nd year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (currently averaging 16pts, 5reb)

2)Felton- Amare and him have formed an awesome synergy, and mastered the pick and roll. Felton is one of our damn co-captains (Amare being the other). And how do we have No respect for 17pts and 9assist per game?? I think those may be the best averages for any knick point guard in my lifetime... needless to say, but very hard to replace even with the prospect of Chris Paul in the future.  I like billups but Felton can lead us to rings with melo and stat while billups is retired. So in this scenario the real chips are betting that we WILL GET CHRIS PAUL. Wayyy too risky for my blood.

3)Denver - Has no choice but to take almost anything we offer, Melo wants to come here the Nets are a joke turned into tragedy with their incestuous rekindled chase after the boss claimed this to be a dead issue several weeks ago, and can i just ask, wth does anyone want with favors or harris?? i understand the potential with favors, but he has showed just about nothing so far, and harris is a multi week injury waiting to happen consistantly! If im denver, I take Chandler, Douglass, Randolf, Curry maybe mozgov or fields and maybe even a draft pick or two and call it a victory.

4)WAIT! - Why cant we just wait till offseason and sign Melo then? He would sign with Denver before the Nets I think, and he is clearly not interested in doing that, I dont care what anyone says, $65Mill has been waiting and collecting dust, He wants to rep the Garden and lead us to a championship on the same floor he did it in college and for the first time in my lifetime! Denver knows this and ultimately will have to cave.

!!!!!DOLAN DONT F* THIS UP LIKE YOU HAVE THE PAST DECADE AND A HALF TRYING TO BRING IN BIG NAMES WHICH ARE ACTUALLY STARS PAST THEIR PRIME, SIGN THEM TO OVER-INFLATED CONTRACTS AND TRADE AWAY ALL OUR YOUNG TALENT!!!
!!! OUR TEAM IS CLOSE TO BEING GREAT AND WILL ONLY GET MORE MATURE AND BETTER TOGETHER , WE ALL WANT MELO, BUT LEARN A LESSON FROM SAN ANTONIO WHO CONSISTANTLY NURTURES TALENT, PICKS KEY PLAYERS TO FIT THEIR SYSTEM WITHOUT GOING OVER THE CAP OR LOSING PIECES OF THEIR CORE, AND REMAINS A TRULY ELITE TEAM. IM STILL SORE FROM THE '99 FINALS AND I WANT REVENGE SO DONT BE A FOOL!!!

D'Antoini system...they play fast right?

Can Billups run this style, like Felton?  I don't think so...PG play totally changes, and now you have two elbow players in Melo & Amare - who need a TONS of shots.

Are they even better defensively?  nah

Report: Knicks have offer on the table for Melo

This is a slam dunk no brainer trade for the Knicks.  Anyone saying don't do it knows nothing about basketball.  I like Gallo, but he is not a superstar and never will be.  He's just a good offensive player.  They don;t believe they can re-sign Chandler for next year and he may foot surgery in the offseason, plus he plays Melo's position.  Felton was a rental until CP3 and D. Williams.  Billups will be the same except he can play pick and roll, shoot and is clutch in the playoffs.  Admittedly is he is on the downside of his career.  The Knicks are not trading "their" # 1 pick.  They are trading Randolph to Minnesota for the pick.  If this true, they also keep Fields who is more rounded than Gallo.  Wake up Knick fans, you need at least two superstars to be that juggernaut in Miami.

The Sixers are an OK team going nowhere, as usual.

Report: Knicks have offer on the table for Melo

This deal makes no sense to the Knicks unless Billups changes his mind and wants to come to NY for 3-4 years. What I don't know is what dumping the Eddie Curry contract is worth in acquiring additional free agents next year. If it means getting CP3 now that is a horse of another color. Yet if one in the hand is worth two in the bush, maybe the Knicks should just play out this season and see what happens. Player wise, Felton/Chandler/Gallinari are much better than Melo, so it is the rest of the trade that matters greatly.

Report: Knicks have offer on the table for Melo

I think for this year at least Billups willl be able to fill the void of Felton, and Fields is much more valuable to the knicks right now, because of his position and his contract for this year and next year.  If you are adding salary you need to keep your starter who only makes 500K.  Chandler would be gone anyways if the knicks signed Melo in the off season.  Galo is the one thing that kind of hurts, but I think this is a fair compromise from where the two sides were a few weeks ago.  Dolan definately made Walsh offer Galo and Chandler or CHandler and Fields though.  I know Fields and Galo were walsh's major priorities other than STAT to hold on to.  Maybe it will be good in the long run though.  I mean how often does a team get a chance to aquire a top ten talent in the world.  This chance doesn't present itselft too often and I think walsh was too confident that anthony would actually go to FA.  If the knicks do not trade for him he will never be a knick.

Which leaves the Knicks with who and what to build with? Is Isaiah back running the show? It sure sounds like it.

I will put money down that Walsh did not offer all 3 and a 1st rounder. He has stated and will continue to state its chandler or Gallo. Dont like it, see this summer. Good luck

Report: Knicks have offer on the table for Melo

If this deal goes down, I'll miss Gallinari and Chandler (whom the Knicks can consider resigning). Hie is Carmelo Anthony.
This deal comes down to Gallinaro and Curry's contract for Carmelo. Billups (though aging) still has a year or two (before Chris Paul or Deron Williams become available) is OK replacement for Felton. Billups cant run with Felton. Knicks have to hope Toney is ready for more time. Knicks weren't going to need Chandler if they got Carmelo. Curry aint worth anything.
I would have preferred keeping Gallinari and giving them first-rounder for Anthony.. Maybe the Knicks will keep that pick for a player
