Kobe Bryant dunks past LeBron James block

Kobe Bryant snakes past LeBron's chasedown block attempt for the jam on his way to All-Star MVP honors despite LeBron James' triple-double.

In the endless debate over who's the ruler of the NBA, Kobe Bryant with his five NBA championship rings, MVP, four All-Star MVPs and established position in NBA history or LeBron James who is highly regarded as the best overall player in the NBA right now, along with two MVPs, there's always a feeling that Bryant is just one step ahead. He's just had the things happen for him, or made them happen for him, that LeBron has not. And on a night where LeBron dropped the second ever triple-double in an All-Star Game, Kobe still managed to one-up him, landing the MVP trophy. The night was encapsulated, though, on a play where LeBron went for his famous chase-down block, only to find Bryant flush it. See for yourself.

LeBron's team is stacked with two other All-Stars, but Kobe Bryant maintains his status as the icon of the league. He looks every bit on his way to a third Finals appearance despite his team's recent struggles, and if against the Heat, he may serve the same reminder to King James. Kobe Bryant still runs this game.

Couldn't tell it from his performance... looked like Durant, Westbrook, and Griffin made a better claim for that.

Really?  I mean I like when anybody dunks on LeBron, but Jordan Crawford faced him on his dunk.

From watching the All Star game. Kobe and Lebron would have been great Team mates. Kobe has that Killer instinct from the jump ball. Lebron is more reactive. But Kobe would teach Lebron so much about Basketball work ethic and just how to approach the game. It would definitely be the type of knowledge that Lebron has gotten in the league except for the Olympics when Kobe schooled alot of the younger players on passion and intensity.

I disagree that Kobe is "every bit on his way to a third Finals appearance". The Spurs might be interested in that quote.

Kobe hasn't looked like Kobe this year, and the Lakers sure as doody haven't looked like the Lakers. Not to mention they usually right the ship by now and this year they're in crisis mode as opposed to "don't worry we'll fix it" mode.

They're making this bigger than it is. Kobe's still the best player when it counts. However, like Kobe said, he just tried to be quicker with the dunk, because if he would have tried to out jump him Lebron would have blocked it with his arm pits. lol

disappointing clip

I read the title and would love to see Lebron getting dunked on.  However, this was just a fast break dunk and a good effort by James to try to get a block in.

Kobe wins MVP in the All-Star.  He deserves it.  But, so does a triple-double by James.  The All-Star game is showmanship at it's finest.  It should go to one or the other because they both showed the competitive spirit.  I would like to see both players help grow the international growth of basketball.  They both (Kobe and LeBron) can make basketball bigger than soccer.  I would say, look at the China Basketball Association and the teams of the Middle East.  Perhaps we can find a new peace emissary.

Since when is that considered getting dunked on?
