Kosta Koufos TRADED TO DENVER FOR DRAFT PICK
Denver receives: Kosta Koufos (2.7 ppg, 2.5 rpg, .5 bpg)
Minnesota receives: 2015 second round draft pick (unprotected)
Analysis: A late addition to the much larger Carmelo Anthony three-way trade announced yesterday. Another classic David Kahn move: Send out a bit player in trade after recently acquiring that same bit player in trade. Denver gets an extra big who doesn't figure to play much. Minnesota doesn't really need Koufos because he's A) not good and B) They have plenty of other marginal power forwards and centers, including Darko Milicic, Nikola Pekovic, Anthony Tolliver and the recently acquired Anthony Randolph. The Timberwolves also don't have to pay the balance of his salary but that's a marginal consideration, as he's only making $1.3 million this year. They do also avoid having to pay him $2.2 million next season, however, so maybe that fact alone makes this worth doing.
