Boston trades Marquis Daniels to Sacramento for cash.

An updating list of trades at the NBA Trade Deadline. Posted by EOB staff.

THE BOSTON Celtics TRADE MARQUIS DANIELS TO SACRAMENTO FOR CASH

Boston receives: Cash, money, moulah, dinero

Sacramento receives: Marquis Daniels, ability to avoid penalty for being under minimum salary

Analysis:  The Kings were below the minimum salary. They literally were not paying their players enough, and had to have another guy to avoid a penalty. As a result, they trade for Daniels, who suffered a bruised spine and will not play again this season. They paid off the Celtics to help them avoid being below the minimum.  Daniels had played well for the Celtics. He had worked for them, helped them to the top seed in the East. He was injured in a freak accident. And now the Celitcs have just ditched him so they can go pursue another player. I get it's a business. I get these things happen. But it just feels wrong to punish Daniels like this, even if he would only be able to support the team from the bench. It's how it is, how this league works, but for a team that talks about family so much, those words ring hollow today.

Trade Tracker: Boston sends Daniels to Sactown

Boston had so much more potential. I dunno how they could afford it, but on top of the big 5, along with a solid bench, they had enough cap room to sign TWO players to the Mid-Level-Exception of roughly 5-6 million bucks. What did they do with it? They signed Daniels and Jermaine O'Neal who haven't even seen the floor this year. Daniel's is on a 1 year deal, and I'm guessing the Kings could recoup some injury exception money if he doesn't come back this year. A spinal injury is kind of a big deal.

The Celtics now have the roster spots to add Troy Murphy and Rasheed Wallace.

Marquis Daniels is a talented player and one can only assume he didn't work hard enough to make an impact with the Celtics
"One can only assume he didn't work hard enough"?  Are you stupid, or just basketball-ignorant.  Marquis Daniels has a limited skill set.  He made the same impact his ability and opportunity allowed him to.

This is actually an excellent move for Daniels. Now he'll be with a team where he'll play ALOT more, put up numbers and significantly increase his value and be in line for a much bigger contract than he could ever have hoped to get being the 10th man in the Celtics rotation. Plus, with his experience being on a winning team like Boston, he'll have a chance to be a LEADER with Sacramento. As far as the Celtics doing him wrong, guess what? HE CAN'T PLAY ANYMORE THIS YEAR=HE CAN'T "CONTRIBUTE" ANYTHING. It's Ainge's job to make the Celtics roster as strong as possible which means having players who can actually compete "this year" and not hanging on to fringe players who won't. It's a business first and foremost. Never forget that. Daniels will be fine.

Kings of 2012 will be the Knicks of 2011. Cap room spells contender, spells Kings move to Anaheim for the BIG DOLLA"S!! Oh wait... Laker, Clippers, Dodgers, Angels, Padres, Chargers, NHL Kings, Ducks, Disney, have I missed anything else?  Well, at least they'll sell a quarter of their seats every night. Don't pack your bags Marquis. Wait till you know where the team will actually be... and by all means get healthy and make the Celt regret they dumped you.

Boston has love for Marquise Daniels.  However; the Celtics need bodies with half their team out with injuries.  Why is that a bad thing?  This is professional basketball, it's not about making sure Nancy doesn't cry because you didn't want to be her friend in second grade.

Matt Moore literally spends all his free time trying to figure out way to bad mouth the Celtics.  Has your Heat hard on not been properly stroked?

Fool.

Dumbest Posts Here

He was an afterthought on the Celtics and was not going to play again in this season. Celtics are looking for able bodied people to PLAY as they ready for the playoffs.  NO different that waving him after season is over. Laker fans are truly IDIOTS!

Marquis Daniels was never a big part of the Celtics rotation in two years.  Now he is hurt so the team unloads him to make room for a able bodied player.  Nothing sleazy about it as Daniels still gets paid, the Kings avoid penalties, and teh Celtics can afford to pick up either Dalembert or Murphy off the waiver wire.  Marquis Daniels is a talented player and one can only assume he didn't work hard enough to make an impact with the Celtics and it was time to move him along.  He will play again in the NBA and will make good money doing so the world is not over for him.
