The Cavaliers waived forward Leon Powe Thursday (he'll likely clear waivers Monday), clearing room for new additions added in a series of trades at the deadline. As a result, the veteran is now available to the highest bidder and one team that's likely interested is the one where he made his biggest mark.

And a team that could certainly use his help.

The Boston Celtics will probably be at the top of Powe's list according to Doc Rivers was a huge fan of his during his time on the championship Celtic team and as a big body, he's someone the Celtics certainly could use after Thursday's events.

Boston is significantly smaller after trading Semih Erden, Luke Harangody and Kendrick Perkins Thursday. They have a roster spot available to make a move and while they did sign D-Leaguer Chris Johnson to a 10-day contract, that's likely temporary.

The issue with Powe is his health, as he's dealt with two major knee injuries over the past few years. But if he's healthy enough to provide some minutes of the bench, he will absolutely make an impact on this Celtics team heading into the postseason.

The concern is what his condition will be. He's played some this year, but tore his meniscus back in January and was out six weeks. The Celtics are also reportedly looking at Troy Murphy as well to bring in. So options are there.

"I'll be happy wherever I end up, but Boston is always holding a special place in my heart," Powe told Thursday night. "The fans were so good to me, everybody up there was so nice, and it would be a great thing to return back to the Celtics if I could."

Other teams like the Magic and Knicks are also said to be interested and they'll likely be willing to pay the price to get him too. Both teams are in desperate need of help on the interior, so there might be a bit of bidding going on for the services of Powe.

I think they call that some type of collusion and is not allowed to take place in the NBA. I think several teams got fined for doing something like that before. I am sure that Danny Ainge would not want to put the Celtics in a position to be fined for any reason.

I don't think it is legal for one team to make a deal about players if the player has not cleared waivers, then the player and his agent is free to make any deal possible for the player that was waived. A player must clear waivers before an agent may contact a team about the possibility for his player playing for a certain team.

I'm not sure what the best addition to this team is.  I hope Powe can be a nice addition because they are old and hurt a lot.  Go Celtics!!

Figure it out....Ainge had to have some commitment from the Cav's to release Leon if they made the trade for 2 Boston players for a draft pick.  If he had a commitment from the Cav's he must also have had a commitment from Leon to come back to Boston.  He is not a superstar but a role player that is good for the team and club house.  He surely works hard for everything he gets otherwise the other teams wouldn't want him.  Hope to see him in green tomorrow for another playoff run.

The Celtics tried to extend Perkins but his agent wanted more they could not afford to keep him for 10 milloon a year and will  also help their salary cap in 2012. Powe if healthy can help at times you must scarifice a popular player to help the whole not just the part that everyone likes!

Let me get this straight.  We traded away one big man with great potential and one knee surgery just to sign a bench player with a "big body" and two knee surgeries?  I like Leon Powe, always have, but this just seems like the front office trying to bring back a fan favorite to distract from their odd trades on thursday.

TA? Nobody in Boston cared when Tony Allen left.....THE GUY IS HORRRRRRRIBLE.
I'll take Powe back in a heart beat, but still not convinced these moves by Ainge actually helped the Celtics this year.

The Show should absolutely come back to where he started his career.  We love him in Beantown.  It sucked to watch him leave, just like TA and Perk.

Leon Powe should join the Miami Heat or New York Knicks because they could use a big man to get them to the top plus
he will get more playing time with those to teams.
