Jalen Rose pulled from TV after DUI cover-up

Former NBA player and current NBA analyst Jalen Rose has been pulled from the air due to a recent DUI arrest. Posted by Ben Golliver. jalen-rose

It's been a wild month for former University of Michigan basketball star Jalen Rose, who released a controversial documentary about his time with the Fab Five and was arrested on DUI charges, which he managed to keep out of the news for weeks.

USA Today reports that Rose has been pulled from the television airwaves by ESPN, where he is currently an NBA analyst.
ESPN is pulling Jalen Rose off the air after a report found the NBA basketball analyst waited almost three weeks to tell his employers about his arrest in Michigan on suspicion of drunk driving.
"Jalen has accepted full responsibility for his actions. Both parties are taking this very seriously, and as a result, we've agreed that he will not be on our air while he addresses this situation," said ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz in an email to Game On!
The Poynter Review Project reports that Rose was not contractually obligated to disclose his DUI arrest to ESPN.
ESPN encourages its "talent" -- those employees and contractors who are paid to appear on the air or write for the Web or magazine -- to tell their bosses about potentially embarrassing personal issues that might become public. But no written policy explicitly requires them to come forward.
This has really turned into a "it was the best of times, it was the worst of times" situation for Rose, whose documentary set ratings records but has now been overshadowed by his personal conduct and decision to bury negative headlines rather than own up to the situation.

Rose was in a tough spot and he clearly chose to do what was best for himself and his project rather than what was best for his employer. That type of decision can have all sorts of long-term consequences. Whether Rose is being temporarily muzzled or cast aside remains to be seen. For now, it will be a lot harder to hear Rose's side of the story.

Because of the hysteria created by MADD over DUIs--the person arrested for DUI in today's world is an enemy of the state--even though most people who drink have driven under the influence, we regard the DUI arrestee as a pariah

Karma is a biatch isn't it Jalen? You spout your ignorant hate and it came back to haunt you didn't it? You were, are and always be an ignorant thug. You were the most inarticulate analyst on ESPN and that's saying a lot. Now, you're jobless like 8.8 % of the population. Hopefully, no one will hire you and your ignorant hate-mongering.

Somewhere Grant Hill, Coach K, Jay Williams, Bobby Hurley and anyone else you besmirched with your vile comments are experiencing schadenfruede. Too funny.

Btw, I despise Duke with every fiber in my body, but I despise ignorance 10 x more.

The only ignorance are comments like these.  In the documentary you are referring to, Jalen Rose commented on how he felt towards Duke and players like Grant Hill AT THAT TIME.  Why is no one realizing this?  He was a 19 year old kid and had these thoughts.  He is not saying that he feels this way now about them.  I'm sure everyone commenting on these boards had a clear thought process and a worldly mind at the age of 19... yea... sure.  Jalen has gotten WAY too much criticism for his honest comments in the documentary.  The only thing that Jalen maybe should have done was to reiterate in the film that he doesn't hold those feeling of Duke and Grant Hill today, because he has matured, lived life a little longer, and has been financially fortunate.

I don't understand why you think this is a racial thing.  What about this situation seems racist to you?  Is it just the fact that he is not white or what.  What white analysts are busy sexually harrassing people, and getting away with it?  I'm not saying that it hasn't happened, but who are you talking about that is on ESPN that has been accused of sexual assault, or harrassment?  I don't see this as a racial issue at all.  I do think it's a bit of an overreaction from a DUI, but as far as I am concerned racism should not be brought up anymore unless there is some clear cut racism going on. Racism, in my mind, is practically non-existent anymore other than a few ignorant people.  I don't see any reason why you should only be able to fire white people when they are in trouble with the law. This is standard procedure for a public figure that gets in trouble with the law.  They have to be suspended until the situation is resolved.  I think that calling racism in a situation like this is a little racist in itself.

How ironic. Rose talked about in the Documentary how part of the reason that he caught less heat than Webber for the NCAA violations was that he came clean with the Feds while Webber didnt.

Meanwhile, ESPN condones all of the erratic and deviant sexual behavior of its white broadcasters and Uncle Toms.
What a joke.
