Over the weekend, a report was out saying that former Jazz coach Jerry Sloan was possibly interested in returning to the bench if the right phone call was made to him. Of course now he had to be asked about it and the Salt Lake Tribune did just that.

“I don’t know where that came from,” Sloan said. “It sounds like somebody threw it out there. … But that’s not my game.”

Sloan's longtime assistant Phil Johnson expanded a bit. “In our business, you can never say never,” Johnson said. “I just doubt either one of us would coach again. That’s just a feeling.”

Of course Johnson should have a feel for Sloan, seeing as they've known and coached together for almost 30 years.

Sloan doesn't normally mince words or try and skate questions, so I would assume he's not interested in returning really. More than likely he told someone that told someone that yeah, maybe I'll come back if I got a call from the Knicks or something. But who really knows.

Greg Miller did that?  If he did he should be rode out of town on a rail. If he did that, he doomed the Jazz to absolute mediocre basketball.

The Knicks have a good coach, what they don't have are smart players that know how to play like a team, which is what wins in this league.

I agree but that is why the great coaches are great. They get players to play like a team on both ends.  Very few are able to. Lakers in late 90's had same players they won 3 titles with back then. Yet until Phil Jackson took over they could noit win a title. He shows up and wins 3 in a row. That shows it takes great coaches with great players to win like that. If Phil wisn a 3 peat this year. Well he is by far the best ever. That will be 4 3 peats when few ever even one 2 years in a row once. Amazing.

Jerry Sloan, Phil Jackson, and Red Auerbach could all coach the Knicks together and they still wouldn't win.  The Knicks have a good coach, what they don't have are smart players that know how to play like a team, which is what wins in this league.  I like Amare, but he's not any smarter than a fifth grader, and Carmelo Anthony can't even spell his wife name.  The Knicks screwed themselves by giving up all those players and draft picks for Carmelo Anthony, is an above average shooter that hasn't played defense since he made his first jump shot, and only gets rebounds off of the many bricks he throws up every night.

If I were the Knicks, I would trade Anthony away, try and get some of those players and picks back and thank my imaginary god that he is gone.  The Knicks or any team for that matter will never win a championship with Carmelo Anthony on it, I guarantee that!

Maybe he should go to the Bulls.  ALL the players he wanted resigned or kept (except Mathews) are on that roster.  Boozer, Korver and Brewer.  Greg drove him out.  Reports have surfaced from players that wish to remain anonymous that the night before he quit that he wanted to suspend Williams for insubordination during the Bulls game.  Greg Miller wouldn't let him. Sloan reminded him of the agreement and the liberties that Larry H Miller had given him.  Greg responded, that agreement died when he died.  Sloan said fine, I quit.  Greg was shocked and asked him to sleep on it.  The next morning Greg refused to allow DWill to be suspended so Sloan said then my resignations stands and the rest is history.  Great job Greg screwing up the franchise.

Brian Shaw will be the next Lakers coach, or someone with knowledge of running the triangle offense!! My guess is it will be Shaw, he has been the coach in waiting and the Lakers players respect him.

I dont think so much the Knicks would interest him...but what about the Lakers?  Phil is leaving from the looks of it.  Coaching the Lakers at this stage cant just go to any ole' coach...

Why would anyone want to coach The Nets? So you can be a lame duck franchise sitting in Newark for 2- 3 seasons? I guess I am slow, and just got the joke...Williams, Nets...Sloan....not a very good joke, maybe why I missed it. And, why would he want to coach the Knicks? He would have a heart attack @ the 100 + PPG they give up, and the lack off effort on the defensive side.
