Kobe Bryant's 15th technical rescinded

Kobe Bryant has picked up his fair share (more than, really) of technicals this season. But as he inched closer to a one game suspension (with only two games remaining), he's been granted a step back that will ensure he won't be missing those final games... at least, against his will. ESPN LA reports that the league has rescinded Bryant's 15th technical issued Sunday night during a scrum with Kendrick Perkins.  Looking at the play, it's pretty easy to see why.

Perkins was sending a message to Bryant, but Bryant can't be blamed for retaliating in that situation. The only way Bryant would have to serve a one-game suspension on Wednesday versus the Kings is if he were to pick up two technicals against San Antonio... which is not entirely out of the question, but still pretty unlikely.

Bryant at once skates away with too much in terms of his reaction to calls and contact, and also takes more than his fair share of abuse that goes uncalled. In the playoffs, he'll need to maintain composure, as sometimes it fires up his team, and sometimes it just, you know, costs them a point. On the other end of it, keep an eye out if Perkins and Bryant meet in the playoffs.

Los Angeles entered Monday night tied with Dallas for the second seed, and just a game above OKC in the fourth seed. So they could probably use Bryant at least versus San Antonio. But then, the Lakers may rest him anyway, making the whole question moot.

Kobe Bryant's 15th technical rescinded

The NBA has been a joke for far too long now.  Both players are at fault.  I love Kobe's technique for setting a screen: lead with your left shoulder and then use two arb-bars.  Kendrick then proceeds to use his two arm-bars while then going for a head lock.

Rules need to change: both players should be T'd up AND be forced to sit out games.

I think the situation could have gone either way with Kobe. Being the ref called the "T", it should stand as called. What kind of message does it send to the players and refs when a "T" gets reversed after the fact? I'm not a big Kobe fan, but I respect him as a great player. Whether you instigated or retalitated, you are responsible for your actions regardless. I understand people pay big money to see the superstars play, but when a player does something the refs feel was worthy of a "T", the name on the back of the jersey should not matter. The league just opened up a can of worms for players to question technical fouls and for refs to lose respect from the players.

Kobe Bryant's 15th technical rescinded

Great job by the NBA on this one.  I know there are more Kobe and Laker haters out there that say this move is wrong, but if you atch the video, Kobe is just trying to free himself and separate.  Once he is away from Perkins he steps way back.  Can't blame him.  I wouldn't want to get mauled by Perkins either.

i hate to be the one to burst your bubble but im a clooegiate ref and do many games and i know wether theres an instant wether its intentional or not you have to go by your rule book wether the league or institution takes it back later  you have to make that call  period.
Can you try this one again?  In English next time would be preferable.

But, Paul Pierce is BY FAR the worst I've seen in ANY professional sport.

I agree! At the same time where are his roots from? Oh yeah, he's originally from Laker land so what do you expect? Haha
