Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers says Rajon Rondo and Delonte West will play in Game 4 following MRIs. Posted by Ben Golliver.

UPDATE: Rondo was given an X-ray, MRI and CT scan and all results were negative. He's being officially listed as questionable for Game 4.

During Saturday's Game 3 against the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics guards Rajon Rondo and Delonte West both went down with injury. For Rondo, it was a gruesome dislocated elbow  while West suffered a shoulder injury just before halftime.

Boston.com reports that both players underwent MRIs and that Celtics coach Doc Rivers expects both to be available to play in Monday night's Game 4, although he expressed a bit of apprehension regarding Rondo.
"Right now we're going with they're all playing," said Rivers, who was including Shaquille O'Neal. "Hopefully we'll know something by the end of our film session. Obviously (Rondo's elbow) was far more painful today, a lot of swelling."
"If he can't help our team (Rondo won't play)," the coach said. "And if he can play, how well can he play and will he help or hurt our team? No. 1, we're not going to hurt the player and we're not going to do anything to hurt the team. It may not be until game time and the game until we find that out. Right now, that may be the case. I am optimstic about both, that they're going to play."
Here's video of Rondo's gruesome injury which occurred after he got tangled up with Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade.

If both Rondo and West are unable to go, look for the Celtics to activate reserve point guard Carlos Arroyo, who played for the Heat earlier this season.

Rondo, West expected to play Game 4 after MRIs

Wade wrapped his left leg around Rondo and threw his body weight into him (while their arms were locked) and landed on him.  Rondo's elbow gave out b/c in addition to trying catch his own body weight, Wade landed on top of him.  It was a dirty play.  No evidence he thought Rondo would get hurt.

Rondo, West expected to play Game 4 after MRIs

Playoff basketball gets rough.  There was absolutely nothing dirty about this play it was just unfortunate that Rondo got hurt.  To his credit Rondo is a great playoff player and will battle back.

You need the refs on your side roughly 34 ft in the first 2 games barely win and only 19 in the 3rd game and get killed you too funny

Rondo, West expected to play Game 4 after MRIs

From the rest of your post, it is obvious that you watch NBA hoops, so watching a guy try and drag a defender to the floor with him on a loose ball should be nothing new, it happens at least 2-3 times a game.  To be sure, Rondo falling as he did and hurting his elbow is unfortunate, but that is sports.  Third, I find it hard to stomach a Celtics fan complaining about dirty play.  Have you ever watched your boy KG set a screen?  The next time his feet are set onj a screen play will be the first time.  KG grabs, punches, kicks, flops, and sets lethal MOVING screens all the time, but I'm sure that is just hard-nosed basketball, right?  I'm sorry, but that is not a flagrant fouled of any kind.  Sure, it is a regular foul, but results of the foul do not create flagrance, intent does, and the intent was to keep him away from the ball, that is it.  Hopefully Wade does not try that on Pierce or he may need an ambulance to get off the court before returning 5 minutes later.  The play was common, bush, and right up the Celtic's alley.

Rondo, West expected to play Game 4 after MRIs

I agree completly...to me they are not that dirty. the problem i have are the refs. why? miami goes to the free throw line 34 times in both game (roughly) boston loses both and in boston they go to the line 19 times and boston cruises to any easy win..add another 15 ft for miami and you have yourself a game. so i think the refs control outcomes of games and its disturbing check game 7 lakers boston the refs let them play basketball for 3 quartes than everything switched boston called for fouls every damn minute over really nothing yeah maybe a few were boston fouls but lakers never foul please. anyways lakers went to the ft line 20 times in the 4th.i was amazed no one saw that happen and as u know the lakers won.

Rondo, West expected to play Game 4 after MRIs

Was this a Dirty play??  Is Wade a Dirty player??  Did Wade try to hurt Rondo??

Yes - Yes - No.   Ok let me explain.  I do feel that Wade has been playing dirty (or cheap) this entire series - he has had numerouse incidents that many other players would have received flagrant fouls for - but for whatever reason Wade didn't.  The lowering the shoulder and trying to run through Pierce in Game 1 was definitely intended to incite Pierce at the least.  I feel he did this to Pierce because he wanted to try and get that 2nd T on him - and it worked.  It was obvious to me because of the lowering of the shoulder into the screener and creating contact with enough force to injure and then immediately starting the verbal warfare.  Wade derserved to be ejected over this incident - but the league protects him.  He should have received a flagrant foul technical on the collision and then another for the verbal assault on Pierce.  Yes Pierce should probably have been T'ed up as well for the verbal exchange between the two.  But Wade derserved to be tossed along with him.

The entire game 3 Wade was tryijng to get under the skin of the Celtics.  He tried on other occasions to pull someone down with him - this was complete BS.  Bush league Crap.  He eventually pulled it on Rondo and the results were horrible - he could have ended Rondo's season or altered his career with this stunt.  Wade knew exactly what he was doing - he pulled Rondo down not to injure but to incite the Celtics.  He was hoping for someone to lose their cool and get T'ed up.  A very cheap tactic - reminds me a lot of the 80's Pistons (Mahorn-Laimbeer-Rodman).  Now while I don't think Wade was trying to injure Rondo - I do think Wade should have been tossed for this incident with Rondo - for the flagrant foul and then the verbal taunting he did toward the Boston Bench right after the incident.

Wade should be sent a message by the league - but we know this will never happen.  He deserves to be suspended for at least 1 game for the Rondo incident alone.  I guess it will be up to the C's to send Wade a message and keep enforcing that message the rest of thie series.

I do want to thank Wade because I feel he may have awoken the C's - and now they are fired up and will bring that suffocating D.

Wade has shown his true character in this series - once considered a classy player. Now he is just a thug - punk-a** little B*tch.

Go C's - It's All About 18!!!

No fault of Wade . . . but . . .

The game was very late here in Europe, but hope was being held out for some sort of miracle comeback.  Instead, it turned in to a series of LA blunders, climaxed by idiotic, hooligan moves by frustrated Lakers!
And Phil Jackson could only sit and smile . . . probably speechless in the locker room, but surely content to not have to respond for the actions of his players and their futures.  He deserved a much better 'send-off'!

Rondo, West expected to play Game 4 after MRIs

SO D-Whistle wants to be Bill Laimbeer now?  Great, you breathe on this guy it's a foul; he tries to hurt a player and then mouths off afterwards with no consequences.  Welcome to David Stern's NBA....he turned what was once a great sport into WWF style "sports entertainment"

Rondo, West expected to play Game 4 after MRIs

After watching it again I noticed what the announcer said and seen for myself that Rondo did put his elbow in the back of Wades neck and did help pull Wade off balance. How in the heck can anyone blame Wade for this incident? Just look at the replay and see for yourself without a bias opinion. It stinks to see a player get hurt but if he was a big part in his own pain then why put the rap on the other player.
Wade did wrap him up with his right arm but Rondo was a major factor in why this happened anyway.
