Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers says Rajon Rondo and Delonte West will play in Game 4 following MRIs. Posted by Ben Golliver.

UPDATE: Rondo was given an X-ray, MRI and CT scan and all results were negative. He's being officially listed as questionable for Game 4.

During Saturday's Game 3 against the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics guards Rajon Rondo and Delonte West both went down with injury. For Rondo, it was a gruesome dislocated elbow  while West suffered a shoulder injury just before halftime.

Boston.com reports that both players underwent MRIs and that Celtics coach Doc Rivers expects both to be available to play in Monday night's Game 4, although he expressed a bit of apprehension regarding Rondo.
"Right now we're going with they're all playing," said Rivers, who was including Shaquille O'Neal. "Hopefully we'll know something by the end of our film session. Obviously (Rondo's elbow) was far more painful today, a lot of swelling."
"If he can't help our team (Rondo won't play)," the coach said. "And if he can play, how well can he play and will he help or hurt our team? No. 1, we're not going to hurt the player and we're not going to do anything to hurt the team. It may not be until game time and the game until we find that out. Right now, that may be the case. I am optimstic about both, that they're going to play."
Here's video of Rondo's gruesome injury which occurred after he got tangled up with Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade.

If both Rondo and West are unable to go, look for the Celtics to activate reserve point guard Carlos Arroyo, who played for the Heat earlier this season.

Rondo, West expected to play Game 4 after MRIs

Wade's play against Rondo wasn't dirty, and this is coming from a Celtics fan.  There were a couple of plays from earlier in the game tha twere a little more questionable but still not really dirty plays.  The play where Rondo got injured was just two guys fighting for the ball and Wade happened to hook Rondo on the way down.  You want to see dirty, look at Andrew Bynum's play from last night.  That was an indefensible cheap shot.  And I know the celts aren't perfect.  KG has done a couple of really stupid things on the court, but i've never seen him send a full force forearm shiver into a guys ribs.

Rondo, West expected to play Game 4 after MRIs

Big O, you are correct! Rondo did not get that defense pressure from the past two games, and I am afraid that in Game 4 it will happen again if he plays. Any physical play might against Rondo can make the injury even worse.

But still I expect some hard ball tonight and if Rondo gets injured again I hope not to read Celtic fans whining.

Rondo, West expected to play Game 4 after MRIs

Either way you look at it, this was just a hard-nosed basketball play on both sides. There was no malice intent to the situation. Things like this happen.

If you want dirty, go look at Andrew Bynum. This play does not even compare to what happened in Dallas.

Rondo, West expected to play Game 4 after MRIs

The play was not dirty or even aggressive. The accident was ugly, but it is just something that happens in sports. People get hurt all of the time, and people who keep disputing this accident are doing so based on which team they support. The bigger travesty came AFTER Rondo was injured and then returned. The Heat must have felt sorry for him because they didn't pressure him at all. In fact, I saw several times where they didn't even guard him. This is the playoffs, and if the Heat want to win, they need to body up on Rondo or he will pick them apart, injury and all. I expect game four to be a very exciting contest.

Rondo, West expected to play Game 4 after MRIs

you boston haters are comical.  watch the 5 minutes of gametime up to Rondo's injury and you can see D-Wade pull about 3-4 dirty moves by today's standards.  the thing is, none of them are that bad.  not rondo's, not wade's.  the game is straight up wussified.  The celtics are a physical team and all you ball bags cant stand it.  watch some 80s playoff basketball and then you would think twice about calling a play a cheapshot.  youtube kurt rambis clothesline.
fact is boston is physical and you babies dont like it.  no one liked the pistons in the late 80s/early 90s either.  quit your complaining.  you sound like a bunch of women.

I think you are the homer! Sitting here defending your boy Wade. Please! Just say you dont like Boston and leave it at that. To back up Wade with your name as miami vice and call everyone else a homer is the pot calling the kettle black. Capice!!! Homer!

Are you all serious? Rondo is the one that pulls Wade down.

Rondo, West expected to play Game 4 after MRIs

Rondo should not play. This series was expected to be very physical and the predictions have been correct. If Rondo wishes for a fast recovery he should be smart enough and stay off the court.

And yes, I am a Heat fan, and yes I cannot stand Rondo, never liked him but when I saw the injury I cringed. I was suprised it wasnt as bad as everyone thought it would be. The Heat will not go soft on anyone (just like if it was viceversa) and if Rondo gets fouled while running towards the basket and lands on that arm agaion, who knows what can happen.

And for the record, Wade never had tghe intention in hurting Rondo. For whoever thinks the contrary does not know Wade and is a complete fool.

Go Heat!!!
