Report: Rockets interview Lawrence Frank again

The Houston Rockets interviewed Lawrence Frank for their coaching position for the second time and Brian Shaw is no longer a candidate. Posted by Ben Golliver.

Are the Houston Rockets moving towards naming their next head coach?

MyFoxHouston.com reports that the Rockets, who have been without a coach for a month now after parting ways with Rick Adelman, had a second interview with Lawrence Frank, one of three finalists, on Monday.
NBA sources told FOX 26 Sports Boston Celtics assistant coach Lawrence Frank was in Houston Monday for a second round of interviews with Rockets officials as the team searches for a new head coach.

He is one of three finalists to become the Rockets next head coach. The other two are Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Dwane Casey and former Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Kevin McHale.
Meanwhile, the Orange County Register reports that Los Angeles Lakers assistant Brian Shaw is officially out of the running, confirming that the Rockets are interested only in previous head coaches.
That's why Shaw won't be going to the Houston Rockets, who were granted permission by the Lakers to pursue Shaw to be their head coach. Shaw has pulled out of that job search upon determining the Rockets preferred someone who has been a head coach. Shaw didn't want to stay in it if he wasn't likely to win it; he certainly doesn't need any more practice interviewing for top jobs.
Frank makes a compelling base. Aside from having head coaching experience with the New Jersey Nets, he helped lead the Boston Celtics to the No. 2 defense in the NBA despite the departure of Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau. If he was granted a second interview, though, the other finalists will likely be given the same treatment.

Casey's Mavericks begin the Western Conference finals on Tuesday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Forgot to mention the Hall of Fame "retreads" like Larry Brown and Don Nelson.

Do you know anything about the NBA.  Lawrence Frank had only one previous head coaching job and if you know anything he took over the Nets with a 13 game winning streak to begin a coaching career, longest ever in the NBA.  I wouldn't classify Frank as a "retread."  When I think of "retread" I think of Bernie Bickerstaff, Paul Silas, Mike Dunleavy, and basically anyone who has coached the Clippers.  Next time do your homework.

Casey! he would be a nice underrated addition just like thibodeaux was a year ago, who the rocket could have hired when he was assistant to Van Gundy and they had one of the best d's in tha league.

Frank may get another NBA HC job already? Really?? He was clearly in way over his head in NJ. When is the NBA going to learn that these retread hires just don't work for the most part. It's the same old tired worn out "fired" names shuffled around from team to team.

Lawrence Frank is TOTALLY Overrated...he took BYRON SCOTT'S team to playoffs in which Scott had done already....he should give Jason Kidd a million dollars a year for landing him the job by not playing hard for Scott....LETS BE REAL!!!..SIDEBAR- dont know if you guys noticed that once scott left Jersey and went to New Orleans, he used to make Chris Paul straight up give Jason Kidd the business!!! lolss..god dont like ugly...

Lawrence Frank is a nice man--like to see him have another head-coaching chance.  Might as well be with Rockets, because that's a meaningless franchise set to endure the kind of brutal times Frank helped deliver the Nets at the end.

Frank is a genuinely nice dude--hope he gets another chance.  But, frankly, as someone who watched him closely with the Nets, it was brutal.

New does not equal better. Exhibit A: John Calipari, Rick Pitino. There's a common misconception that changing shoes makes you a faster runner.

Can we get some mew blood in the coaching realm?  Who cares about Frank?  Try something new.  I hope that Brian Shaw gets his chance with the Lakers since he is something new, something different.  Maybe Houston should try Patrick Ewing?  Try someone different, not a retread
