Barkley and Wade not getting along right now

By all appearances, Dwyane Wade and Charles Barkley are friends. I say that mainly because they do commercials together, so I may be wrong, but I doubt it.

Anyway, after the Heat's big Game 2 win, evidently Barkley and Wade had a moment of not getting along. Kelly Dwyer of Yahoo! Sports tweeted that Wade told Barkley, "I'm not talking to you right now man" and Barkley responded, "What I do this time?" Dwyer assumed they were joking, but that doesn't appear so.

Via the Miami Herald, Barkley upset Wade with some comments he made on Chicago radio this week.
TNT analyst and Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley caused a stir Tuesday when he referred to the Heat as a “whiny bunch” on a Chicago radio station. Wade shot back Wednesday, referring to Barkley’s comments as “bandwagon” opinions.

“We don’t care what people have to say about us,” Wade said. “We’re coming out to win the game. And we understand what the word bandwagon means.”

I'm actually not sure that's the totally correct use of "bandwagon" but I'll allow it because I know what you meant. Are the Heat whiny? Well, Chris Bosh is on the roster... but I can't really say. No more whiny to me than any other team. The Heat do play the "woe is us, the media hates us" card more than any other team though. Maybe that's what this was in reference to.

Wade continued on and said, "When I was a kid, they called me whiny all the time because I cried a lot. That’s fine. I’m done addressing what Charles has to say.”

Barkley, who is never shy about his opinions, probably isn't done saying things either. Fair trade I guess.

The Heat ARE whiney. Look at Bosh complaining that a player hustling hurt is ankle when he would not hit the floor himself. Bron is one of the whiniest of all. Wade questions calls but he is not as whiney. Sometimes when I see the 3 of them together I think "2 and a half men"

Barkley and Wade not getting along right now

Anyone who watches a Heat game can see Wade complain on 90% of the possessions in which he takes a shot and he doesn't score. It doesn't matter if he was really fouled or not. It's just a part of his game. It's the same as Coach K at Duke, crying to officials and turning them to his side is just part of his coaching technique and it works.

@eichler...... I agree totally. Whininess is ramp-id but I was mainly complaining about the officiating. We all know about the ref that got caught gambling on the games he officiated. I just see so many bad calls in post season games especially and most of the people I know agree that the games are being fixed. If they are then what is the sense in watching. I wouldn't call it hatred or even jealousy but disappointment in what is supposed to be a competitive game. Even when the favoritism goes in some of my favorite teams game it ruins the win for me because I know it was not legitimate.

Barkley and Wade working the crowd

Over the years of observation the most whiny people in basketball seem to be coaches. Specifically I am thinking of Mike Krzyzewski, Popovich, Alvin Gentry, Doc Rivers and Stan Van Gundy. Constantly whining to the referees - working them for calls. Of the players, Kobe, Wade, LeBron. Dwight Howard, Kevin Garnett are all masters of the whine. Mostly to referees again. Getting the star calls requires working the referees. And it is succesful.

As for the media comments, Wade has stepped up to be a spokesperson for his team and has certainly had some defiant comments. He has not taken the intense negativism from the media and fans in prior years that he has been deluged with this year. Same for LeBron and Chris. They did set themselves up for this with the post signing coming out extravagenza they held in Miami where they announced their intentions to win more than five championships. It is good theatre and good PR to foment the country. It makes their names household names. It attracts sponsors, especially after they win their first championship together.

Their back and forth serves both Wade and Barkley. It serves their mutual sponsors. But Wade has the last laugh. He already has a ring. Barkley does not.

I will admit that I think D. Wade can be whiny at times and so can LBJ ohh and Kobe, and Rose , and Howard and so was Jordan and so on and so on.
Since when is it a big surprize that the stars of the NBA whine? They travel , they double dribble,  they hold , they foul and yes they Whine!
Watch any NBA game and you will see these infractions with a shot of whine along with them.

Everyone likes to bitch and complain about not getting the fouls their way when we all know that the more you drive to the hoop then the more you will come into contact with other players. Wade was hammered all night when he went to the hope and only recieved maybe half the calls his way while Rose was getting the same treatment. It's a part of the game that will never be accurate.

Now we go to the media bias towards the Heat. The announcers and alot of the journalist I have seen this year do pick the Heat to win it and on the other hand say and do what they can to discredit a Heat win. They pick it but dont want to see it happen. Reggie Miller and Sir Chuck are perfect examples of this. The truth is... Unless your a Heat fan you dont want to see the offseason moves by the Miami Heat work out. Most everyone hated seeing LBJ and CB go to join up with D.Wade and the Miami Heat organization for one reason or another.
Alot is out of pure jealousy or pure spite. It's time to let it go and just watch the dam game. A series with this many featured stars should be seen as a great opertunity to watch some amazing basket-ball. Time to leave all the bs out and enjoy it while we can.

For the record Barkley has always been a big mouth and he was a worse whinner than anyone else in the NBA when he played so what gives?

Right on, man.  Jordan was the BIGGEST WHINER!!!  Accept it people, superstars think they are untouchable.

BKPAINTER, you have every right to think the way you do, but I sure hope you hated Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson as well for their feelings of entitlement to getting every call.  Michael would frown and throw his fists in the air every time he didn't get the foul call like a 10 year old kid.  The funny part about that was, half the time he was at the line he wasn't touched by the defender, but just has to whine the .001% of the time he didn't get the call in his favor.  The stars get calls, and start to expect them after awhile.  I don't see that ever changing, but nobody was worse than Michael.
