The NBA has rescinded a technical foul on Dallas Mavericks center Tyson Chandler after Oklahoma City Thunder guard James Harden flopped. Posted by Ben Golliver.

On Saturday night, Oklahoma City Thunder guard James Harden took a serious dive during Game 3 of the Western Conference finals, pretending to be elbowed in the face by Dallas Mavericks center Tyson Chandler. On Sunday, ESPNDallas.com reported that the NBA league office stepped in to rescind the technical foul whistled on Chandler during the altercation, ruling that the play was "incidental and not unsportsmanlike."

With Dallas leading 64-44 in the third quarter and the Thunder desperate to get back in the game, Harden drove hard to the hoop and made a running layup. As he turned to run back on defense, he initiated contact with Chandler, who had collected the ball and was moving towards the baseline to inbound it. Chandler raised his arms while moving forward and, as he did so, Harden simulated taking an elbow to the face, collapsing to the court and writhing in pain in embarrassing fashion.

On Sunday, Chandler had the following to say to ESPNDallas.com: "It was not a vicious elbow. I did not throw an elbow. I was trying to take the ball out of bounds. He tried to initiate contact and did a good job of flopping."
Here's video of the altercation and Harden's flop.

Chandler also had a technical foul rescinded after Game 1 of the Western Conference finals after he mixed it up with Thunder center Kendrick Perkins.

it should have been a foul no doubt i mean he did swing his elbow into harden's jaw. It just wasn't a T. Anyone who says this wasn't a foul is purely blind or biased towards dallas, and therefore has no intellect or space to talk on here, and therefore again should shut the hell up.

Every time I listen to Breen, Jackson and Van Gundy call a game, I enjoy it more and more.  First it was the no technicals if you lay a nasty dunk on a guy now it is just the simple laughter after the replay.  I would suggest that whichever of the 10 networks that broadcast NBA (TNT, ABC, ESPN, et al) should let these guys call any sportier they broadcast.  As someone with some lower minor pro broadcast experience, it is hard, basketball in particular and they effortless, informative and hilarious.  Can't wait for tonight's game.  Marv Albert must go, probably Kerr as well.  Reggie is pretty good though.

It's cheating, plain and simple.  He should be punished accordingly.  I'd say suspend him for the next game, and fine him a couple game checks.  I don't even care about either of these teams, or who wins.  But the bottom line is that the NBA has PLENTY of credibility problems; ignoring someone essentially lying to the officials and affecting the outcomes of games just makes the NBA even more of a joke than it already is.

NBA rescinds Chandler technical after Harden flop

I agree he flopped, but to say there was no cotact is wrong, he did take is elbow to Hardins face and thats a fact, Not a Tech though.  It just wasnt as hard as James played it out to be, what have you got to lose in a 20 point game right.  If you start a list of Floppers currently in the NBA James Hardins name is far from the top, however for a guy that no one has ever seen play before this series, that Deshawn Stevenson, amongst being the definition of a thug should also have his name and picture beside the the word Flopper, becaus ethat guy jump everytime KD ooks at him, its almost a comedy to watch.  I thought he had a nervous tick or turrets syndrome or something when I first saw him play, and nice tats by the way.  Whats up with the backwards P on his face,,???

Uh oh, someone let routefndrlee out of his cage again.  These guys have tattoos so they must be thugs!  First you tell us all about how the Nuggets are thugs.  Now you have multiple posts about the Dallas Mavericks being thugs too.  You know that a thug is?  Someone like Andrew Bynum who takes a shot at the smallest guy on the floor either trying to badly hurt him or at the very least not caring whether he hurt JJ Barea or not.  I know you think you know all about players and their personal lives off the court, but this is a sports forum about what happens on the court.  And what happened on the court is James Harden pulled a pansy move.  If DeShawn Stevenson has been playing like a little girl too, then get out and find some video evidence.  Outside of Ibaka and Perkins the Thunder are soft and their frequent whining for calls is certainly tiresome considering they get as many whistles and free throws as almost any team in the league.  Two things for you to do:

1.  At least try to do some proofreading before you post to catch things like "Hardins face" and "everytime KD ooks at him."  It's James H-A-R-D-E-N!  He's on a team that you're a huge fan of, so learn to spell his name already.

2.  Recognize how lame it is to just say, "well other people do it too."  When Chris Bosh pulled a similar stunt a few months ago he was called out by everyone who saw it.

NBA players need to play like men and not little girls.  James Harden is guilty of throwing a dress on and pretending that he was hit by a Mack truck.

Believe me, Dirk is not the only one that initiates contact, they all do it, including Kevin Durant who gets an amazing amount of preferential treatment as does Hardless(Harden); the rules state if the defender goes straight up it is not a foul, this kind of play needs to be stopped by all of the players, it happens so many times in a game it is simply stupid-ridiculous; I've officiated basketball games, not at the NBA level, but it is pretty easy to tell when someone goes up and then the offensive player jumps into the airborn player; perhaps the rule will be enforced if someone gets a major injury from it, not likely but possible

OKC did the same thing time and time again in the Grizzlies series. The league needs to look into this and fine the living crap out of these fake ass flops. To me, players who flop are the ones who can't play and keep up at this level. Anyone who plays good D on any of the OKC players gets into foul trouble early. Refs need to make them play just like they made the Grizzlies play while OKC constantly beat them up the whole series. OKC are nothing but a bunch of wussies.

NBA rescinds Chandler technical after Harden flop

The NBA needs to take control of the acting epidemic in the NBA.  If it's too difficult to call it right on the court, then do post game video review and issue fines for players like James Harden who flop and make it tough for the officials to make the proper call.  That flop should cost $5 and the next time Harden does it should cost him $10 and so on.  You see this kind of junk even more from the international players and it's not what fans pay to see.  If we wanted to see pansy men flopping around and dramatic acting performances we would have gone to the ballet you turds!

The official who made the call is to blame in this one.  He should have done the right thing and scolded Harden, "Get up, Boy! And take off that fake beard."  Harden gives beards a bad name with his soft, undignified play.
