Omer Asik out at least through series, possibly season after ankle injury.

Update 11:59 a.m.: CSN Chicago reports the injury is actually a broken fibula. Ow.

Original report: It's raining in Chicago today. And when it rains, it pours.

A day after the Bulls lost to the Heat to go down 3-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals, a Turkish journalist reports that Bulls center Omer Asik is done for the season with an ankle injury. The Chicago Tribune confirms that Asik is done for this series at least.

It's more bad news for the Bulls as Asik's help off the bench added to the depth that was one of Chicago's major advantages and the reason they won Game 1. Asik not only helped defensively with raw size, but his attack on the glass provided points. You know points, those things Chicago can't produce at all during this series.

The loss of Asik isn't as devastating tactically considering Tom Thibodeau's bizarre decision to go with smaller and smaller lineups, trying to get out and run past the most athletic team in the league. But as the Bulls' advantage on the offensive glass continues to shrink, Asik could have helped to offset Udonis Haslem's impact. Without Asik, the Bulls will run even smaller lineups, especially if Joakim Noah gets in foul trouble going forward.

Like I said, when it rains, it pours for Chicago.

what they need,is another shooting guard to take Bogans place, they were fucking stupid to let Ben Gordon go to Detroit, they wouldve been 10 times better off this series if they had kept him around for the additional scoring he provides

THe Heat luck out again. Celtics lose Rondo and Shaq..Bulls lose vital reserve in Asik. Maybe Dirk will go down in finals. Then the pompous a*&^s. can gloat  over themselves. Barkley is no angel but he is correct in his comments about the Heat.

I don't know what the other guys who commented are watching but Asik is a big loss. He is a force down low blocking shots and rebounding. When the Bulls went big with Asik and Noah they dominated the boards, The news is too bad fir the kid

Asik is just a body.  A stiff.  Provides nothing to this series.  He doesnt present any problems offensively with low post moves, and cant move his feet fast enough to be an asset on the defensive end just basically puts his hands up.  Kurt Thomas cant do any worse and is the same size as Haslem, and can spell a few minutes or fouls if needed.  Boozer is killing this team on the defensive end too especially the pick and roll.  Chicago, although a nice team, needs another scorer to compliment Rose as Deng sometimes gets lost and really cant create on his own.  For some reason or other, they have folded downt the stretch in the fourth quarter, however still easily could have won game 4 going back home defending home court tied 2-2.

that dude sucks anyway, he helps the Heat more when hes out on the court than he does his own team.
