Westbrook storms off without shake after loss

In 2009, LeBron James left the floor without shaking his opponent's hand after losing to the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals. It was a humongous upset. For the MVP, it was a disappointing  act of classlessness in the eyes of many. Some felt that as a competitor, you never want to accept losing. Most, though, felt that sportsmanship dictated that you owe it to your opponent and say "Congratulations, good luck." James was killed for it in the press. Looking back, it may really have been the start of James' P.R. fall from grace. It is considered classless to just walk off the floor.

Russell Westbrook just walked off the floor. Thirty-four second mark here:

Now, first of all, Jason Terry, I know you're excited. It's the Finals. Pull up once you see the clock. It's done. No need for the extra dunk.

Moving on, Westbrook also declined to go to the podium after the game, with James Harden at the presser instead. Westbrook might have simply been too upset to make the presser. After a game where he scored 31 points (on 28 shots) and had eight rebounds, five assists with only three turnovers, he was obviously disappointed. Westbrook constantly soared for rebounds and pushed the ball to get buckets in transition. With Kevin Durant off for most of the game, Westbrook again tried to lead, with successes and failures. Westbrook also lost his emotional cool with a technical in the second half by shoving Jason Terry.

It's going to be a pivotal summer for Westbrook. He's shown tremendous ability and became an All-Star. But his immaturity and decision-making led people to question his role on the Thunder. A stellar performance by James Harden at the point guard position only complicates matters. Westbrook's going to have to decide what role his career is going to be defined by for the next several years, and he's going to have to grow up a bit to learn to control his emotion and harness it in a positive way.

And he's going to get killed in the press for not shaking his opponents' hand after another late-game collapse.

Right, the NBA wants Dirk to win a ring. Because all of their marketing dollars come from promoting white players. That's why you see Kevin Love and Mike Miller jerseys flying off the rack. It's in the best interest of the league for white players to win. It was Dallas that Stern wanted to win in '06 that's why D-Wade shot 487 free throws in the series. Wait... D-Wade wasn't white was he?

Thunder would be better off giving up Westbrook, $$ and draft picks to get Dwight Howard. Imagine that big boy teamed up with Durant and Harden, now that would be a force. Maybe that price is too cheap, but it seems like if the Thunder is serious, they need to help Durant inside and Howard would be a good fit.

Jason Terry FROM....Franklin High School, Seattle.  Yeah, son.  Loved it.  Westbrook will be a Laker in no time, though hopefully later rather than sooner, so he can become a cancer to the team a la Kemp after Jim McIlvaine.

Hey , why don't you tell Dirk there is racism involved here?  Yeah, tell Dirk that racism was involved when the NBA wanted Wade and the Heat to win the series in '06.  I remember this series well, when the refs decided they would call a foul every time Wade was even guarded by anyone, much less if there was any contact made.  To this day, I feel that series was rigged by the NBA.  Yeah, tell that to Dirk and the Mavs.  What an idiot!

Like Isiah Thomas said about Bird, if Bird were Black he ''would be just another good guy'' instead of being portrayed as the league's best player.

Yep...Isiah made that comment in the locker room during the playoffs and Rodman was also in on that comment. The next Bird stole Isiah's inbound pass in the final seconds (crucial playoff game) and made the game winning assist with 1 second left. Btw...If I recall correctly, I believe Bird put up close to 40 points on Rodman in that game.

Bird was an unbelieveable player. Add 4 more rebounds per game and 3 more points per game to Lebron's stats and he would reach the stats that Bird used to post in his prime. He was a 28-10-5 type of player in his prime. Yeah, Bird was just another player (rolling eyes).

What idiots are saying that it's due to racism that Oklahoma lost to Mavericks!  Ask that to KD and he will laugh at your face.  He will say Oklahoma lost because they wilted during the last minutes of 4th quarters every single time.  Mentally, they wilted.  Also, KD has to put some muscles on his frame, because during play-off games, he is going to be abused.  This is why I think Miami Heat will win the Championship, because LeBron has the strength and height to cover Dirk more effectively.  As good as Mavericks are, if you can limit Dirk to 20 points, you can win; but Okalahoma had no answers for Dirk.

Amazing how no matter who wins or looses it will always come down to the race card for some people.  Dirk is white and his team won, Kevin is black and his team lost, well there is only one reason.  Color.  So with that said why play the Finals, LBJ is black and Dirk is still white, so the the results will be the same, don't even play the games.  Just hand it over.  IDIOTS!

@PHDE2BLAQ    -    I suppose Jason Kidd and Steve Nash  weren't superstars...No MVPs or long playoff runs from them in the past.  Bad sportsmanship shows lack of character and makes you look like more of a chump than if you got blown out by 30 points!  Being a Lakers fan, I watched the better team win against them in their series, no excuses.  Man up and just accept it.  Maybe next year OKC!

What a ridiculous comment.  The Mavs won because Dirk balled out of control.  Blame racism on the two terrible shots that Durant put up at the end of games 4 and 5.  Blame racism on the terrible shot that Maynor took at the end of game 5.  Blame racism on the silly fouls that the young OKC players took to allow the Mavs back into game 4.

Yeah, as long as the new definition of racism is Dallas having more experienced, smarter players than OKC.

is an absolute moron! Every time someones team looses they have to cry foul on the refs and blame it on race. The refs were equally bad on both sided of the ball, and to bring anything racial to the conversation is just plain stupid. Do you remember what Larrys answer to Isaiahs remark was? Larry said that was fine but he was playing for the title while Detroit would be watching! The Mavs were by far superior and the longer the series went the more obvious that became.
