LeBron James of the Miami Heat flops on video against the Chicago Bulls in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals. Posted by Ben Golliver.

LeBron James and the Miami Heat did it again on Thursday night, closing out the Chicago Bulls in five games to win the Eastern Conference finals. The Heat went on an 18-3 run to close the game and James was sensational, scoring eight points in the final 2:06 of the fourth quarter and locking up Derrick Rose so bad that he could barely get off a shot attempt.

James was sensational, but only after he embarrassed himself first.

With the Bulls leading 57-44, James pulled down a defensive rebound in traffic. Rose crashed in from the perimeter to take an upward swipe at the ball as James brought it down to the ground and James' body went flying backwards, as if Rose had hit him in the face. James grabbed at his face as if he had been poked in the eye and went down on one knee to collect himself as a foul was called on Rose. Rose stomped away from the play, frustrated at the whistle, and replays would clearly reveal why he was upset.

The reverse angle clearly showed that Rose's swipe did not contact the ball or James' head whatsoever. The upwards swipe had been completely unsuccessful: Rose has simply grasped at air. James' reaction, then, was totally staged, a simulation of contact that had never occurred.

To make matters worse, James' flop was accentuated by a smile and wink to the bench, a purposeful acknowledgement that he had duped the officials.

Here's video of James' flop courtesy of YouTube user BSORobertLittal11.

Flopping and simulating fouls has certainly become a trend in these NBA playoffs. Give James credit: Whatever he does on the basketball court, he does it better than just about everyone else. Unless retroactive fines and imposed in these situations, players with James' basketball intelligence and experience will no doubt be able to fool referees in real time, especially when the plays occur in congested areas of the court.

Still, this was a shame. It certainly doesn't take away from the magnitude of James and Miami making the Finals, but this type of action shouldn't have a place in the NBA game.

Those complaining about a flop probably wont complain about players who act like they got fouled when going to the rim even though they are the same thing.

"Tactical Stratigic move"  like " Im taking my talents to South Beach"?  it is the easy way out.   it is not just Lebron.  all Flopping is pathetic.   It should not be a part of the game should be penalized.

In my view it is saying..."Im not good enough to put up points based on my talent alone"

First off, I hate flopping.

However, second off, it is a tactical strategic move.

Third off, Chicago fans complaining about flopping is unreal. In Game 1, Omer Asik was KING FLOP. He had THREE flops that lead to huge swings and was probably the only reason Chicago was not swept. How quickly people forget.

LeBron James flops against Bulls video

It's just sad. LeBron James is one of the most gifted athletes to ever play, and he still cheats. "But everybody does it," you say. "It's part of the game." Maybe, but that's still no excuse. Winning by cheating - in any of its forms - is still cheating. Somewhere in his heart of hearts (if it hasn't been replaced by a trophy case waiting for his first O'Brien) he knows that, in the end, it wasn't his stellar shooting, defense, or any of that that won this game and series. It was, essentially, a lie.

LeBron James, THIS is why people hate you. Not because you left Cleveland, but because you are a self-serving, me-first-and-at-any-cost player. You make about 99% of America sick. And even if you win 20 consecutive championships, you'll never achieve anything more than your own "I told you so."

Have fun at your championship party, because it's just going to be you, a bag of chips and all your South Beach homies with their hands in your pocket.

True fans of the the sport, and of sportsmanship, won't have anything to do with it or you.

I think everyone agrees that this was an epic flop, but its just ironic that people want to make a big deal about it because Lebron did it. I don't see anybody talking about Kurt Thomas' flop. This is something that has plagued the league for a long time and always will. I can easily see how a ref could be fooled like this in real time, I thought he had gotten swiped in the face til the replay. This is something that ALL players take advantage of EVERY game. When your player gets away with the flop it's called "gamesmanship" or "veteran saavy", but as soon as a player you don't like gets a flop it becomes disgusting? There is absolutely NO story here, take my advice and write a story about the "ringless king" while you still can...

I'm actually a fan of soccer, myself, but even I have to admit all of the flopping around faking injuries and fouls is a blight on that sport.  Seeing it spread to another is rather disgusting.  If the NBA had any balls, they'd stop this crap out ASAP, and with an iron fist.  It'll corrupt the entire sport if they don't.

Another reason the NCAA game is superior (and even it's not totally immune to this crap).

Dallas will win the Finals ,, Unless David Stern allows the Miami Heat to bring their MVP's of their previous series ( The Referees) to help them again

LBJ completely took over this game in the 4th. That was a veteran move by a player who was making a living at the FT line. If anything, Rose didn't need to poke foul being up 13 points.

Why don't you show a clip of Kurt Thomas's flop a few minutes earlier? You probably LOVED Kurt's effort there because you had the Bulls to cover.

Sorry about your loss, but not about an EPIC Miami win!

Stop hating on Lebron.
