LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

LeBron James says that the Chicago Bulls are "one player away" from an NBA championship. Posted by Ben Golliver.

When your house has ants, you call an exterminator. When your laptop won't start, you turn to the Geek Squad. When you want to build an NBA championship contending core? Well, obviously, you consult Miami Heat forward LeBron James.

James, having bailed the Cleveland Cavaliers to team up with Heat star Dwyane Wade and former Toronto Raptors star Chris Bosh, is looking like an expert on that subject these days as the Heat prepare to begin the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night.

After the Heat eliminated the Bulls from the Eastern Conference finals, the Chicago Tribune reports that James delivered a message to Chicago point guard Derrick Rose.
Before getting caught up in celebrating his team's series-clinching victory over the Bulls on Thursday night, Heat star LeBron James embraced Reggie Rose, Derrick's older brother, and whispered a few words in Reggie's ear.

"He said, 'Tell young fella he's a hell of a player and that he's one player away from a title,''' Reggie Rose said, relaying James' message.
James brings this advice knowing what has helped pushed him over the top but also having just picked apart the Bulls.

Really, we should read this as a philosophical declaration. James doesn't mean that Rose and the Bulls just need a solid shooting two-guard to fill out the rotation. He means that Chicago needs to add another star -- a player that can supplement Rose and push Carlos Boozer down to third wheel status where he belongs.

James is simply serving as a prosthletizer here: "I know your pain. I have walked in your shoes. Follow me to the Superteam light."

And, of course, there might also be a tinge of: "Look man, you're going to need some help if you expect to beat us."

LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

One player? Who is that one player is the question.  Everybody says a 2 guard that can make his own shot. Many are hollering get Howard! What would we have to give up to get that 2 guard that can make his own shot and play defense? A bigger question would what would we have to give up to get Howard? Free agent 2 guards JR Smith, Richardson who else? Their are trade rumors about Monta Ellis, OJ Mayo, so the list get wider and longer. Getting that right player will be the most important issue with the Bulls, what should be their number one player Howard, and what will the Bulls have to give up I am positive it will be Noah, Boozer, and several picks. I dont see the Bulls taking Arenas unless the Magic take Boozer. Can Arenas be that 2 guard? Sure he has had some issues, but he can still put the ball in the basket pass and get others involved off his ability to score and attack the basket. I think without a doubt that a line-up of Rose, Arenas, Deng, Gibson and Howard can win a championship, and the bench of Brewer, Korver, Asik and Bogans can become a real hard team to deal with but the Bulls will need some more scoring coming off the bench with that bunch. Bron was right yea Rose will need some help to beat the heat and Bulls management knows this.

LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

Mohammad Ali used to do the mouth thing all through his teen years and early fights. He didn't scream, but opened his mouth real wide while looking at a cohort/friend doing the same thing. They made a low sounding "ahhhh" as they loked at one another. Of course it usually came after a joke, or some important happening.
LaBron is right about the Bulls being a star away from the finals. I'm not  LBJ fan, but he knows what he's talking about here. Boozer being in that No#2 spot has hurt the Bulls. He's a total liability on defense and lack something in his scoring. He needs to drop to No #4 as far as touches, and needs to be on the bench alot more than on the floor.
I think the Bulls will get that star,- they seem committed to winning.

A bench? What about James Jones? Mike Miller? Udonis Haslem? Mario Chalmers?

lebron's mouth is gigantic when he does that scream thing -- it looks like its going to take over his face. it reminds me of adam sandler in billy madison when he plays dodgeball with all the kids and thinks he's awesome cause he beat them, like when someone wants to race me with their turbocharged mustang and im in my '89 dodge spirit. way to go lebron, i believe your ushering in what could be the most boring and annoying period in the history of basketball. we are all very proud of you.

Hey Lebron!  You are a bench away from a title.  I can't wait to watch you lose to the Mavs.

Right, got it. LeBron James knows it all. He's an expert on NBA team's needs because he's God. He's bigger than the game. I could really respect the guy and his game if he kept his stupid mouth shut. Undecided

Interesting comments. Did James say who that one player is? Surely not him.

LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

The regular season will become meaningless. But, the playoffs will be outstanding

The regular season is already meaningless. Just ask the Knicks and Denver. They blew up their team mid-season to make a playoff blockbuster trade. It didn't work out, but they won't be the last team to do this. Orlando and Phoenix did the same thing. Let's get real... the regular season is way too long. No one cares about the NBA in Nov/Dec/Jan. When your playoffs include sub-500 teams (East), it tells you your regular season is irrelevant. I don't start watching the NBA until May when the playoffs start. Before that, it's the "pre-season".

Hey Rose can just come to Miami and be 3 players closer to a ring. Bulls can have Bibby.
