LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

LeBron James says that the Chicago Bulls are "one player away" from an NBA championship. Posted by Ben Golliver.

When your house has ants, you call an exterminator. When your laptop won't start, you turn to the Geek Squad. When you want to build an NBA championship contending core? Well, obviously, you consult Miami Heat forward LeBron James.

James, having bailed the Cleveland Cavaliers to team up with Heat star Dwyane Wade and former Toronto Raptors star Chris Bosh, is looking like an expert on that subject these days as the Heat prepare to begin the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night.

After the Heat eliminated the Bulls from the Eastern Conference finals, the Chicago Tribune reports that James delivered a message to Chicago point guard Derrick Rose.
Before getting caught up in celebrating his team's series-clinching victory over the Bulls on Thursday night, Heat star LeBron James embraced Reggie Rose, Derrick's older brother, and whispered a few words in Reggie's ear.

"He said, 'Tell young fella he's a hell of a player and that he's one player away from a title,''' Reggie Rose said, relaying James' message.
James brings this advice knowing what has helped pushed him over the top but also having just picked apart the Bulls.

Really, we should read this as a philosophical declaration. James doesn't mean that Rose and the Bulls just need a solid shooting two-guard to fill out the rotation. He means that Chicago needs to add another star -- a player that can supplement Rose and push Carlos Boozer down to third wheel status where he belongs.

James is simply serving as a prosthletizer here: "I know your pain. I have walked in your shoes. Follow me to the Superteam light."

And, of course, there might also be a tinge of: "Look man, you're going to need some help if you expect to beat us."

LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

And as far as him going to Miami, you just don't get it. COMPTEITIVE SPORTS is what changes the whole dynamic of why people disrespect his decision. It's not like the best UPS driver moved to Fed Ex. Yea - OBVIOUSLY he did it for himself. OBVIOUSLY he did it to win a championship. But even you Heat fans cant be so blind as to realize he took the easiest way out to WIN A TROPHY. That is EXACTLY what cheapens the competitive nature of the sport for everyone else.

MORON !!  So let me get this straight.   He took the easy way out by taking LESS MONEY to play in Miami and have a better chance of winning a championship??  I think I've heard and read it all now.....  I'm not a Lebron James fan and I never was a Cavs fan, I'm a Pistons fan.  The only reason I became somewhat a Heat fan is because of morons like you constantly talking crap......

If James stays in Cleveland to make more money, morons like you and many others on these boards would have said he's all about the money and doesn't care if he wins.   If James would have signed with the New York Knicks, the marketing capital of the planet you and your fellow morons would have said it's all about money because he only took less in salary to make more in marketing.  So he does neither... he doesn't sign with the Cleveland and doesn't sign with the Knicks and instead signs with the Heat and he's still a bad guy for doing that?

Idiot...

LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

Congrats you have won idiot poster of the year.

@little ceasars Congrats that line has been used over and over on this website by many of users.  How about using a little originality next time.

Role model? Go raise your own kids and quit looking at pro athletes for role models.  (not sarcasm)

Im not looking to these athletes as role models but thats the truth about how kids perceive them.  I don't even have kids so don't act like you even know who I am and if I did they will know the difference between someone who plays a game for a living and someone who actually WORKS for a living.  Unfortunately that's the role athletes take on when they become famous, It's not a choice it's a given. Of course athletes don't want to be role models.  Responsibility is not a word they know much of.  Especially when they are put on a pedestal by morons like yourself and scumbag PR agents who stick up for them and give excuses for their mistakes or actions.  Worship Lebron or whoever you want no one is stopping you, but Im also entitled to my own opinion and likes and no one can change what I think.

LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

James is 26. He is not some wise old NBA guy. He has a load of talent but a load of immaturity to go with it. You have a woody for LeBron Boltfan - we get it. And yea, if a 26 year old Malone, Stockton or Barkley made a spectacle of themselves the way James does, then I would say the same thing about them. Again, James needs to humble up and quit trying to draw so much attention to himself and I think others would repect him a person more. That, my friend, is why I get bent about him being the one to give advice and the media soakign this story up to show how grat James is - for helping the "young guy" Rose out. This would be like Lindsey Lohan giving some 22 year old up and coming actoress advice. No thanks, lets hear it from someone who has been around a while and is not making a spectacle of themselves - I know...that's a bad comparison because James is not a felon...but you know damn well I'm getting at.

And as far as him going to Miami, you just don't get it. COMPTEITIVE SPORTS is what changes the whole dynamic of why people disrespect his decision. It's not like the best UPS driver moved to Fed Ex. You cannot tell me you don't see that. I know you like the Heat and you are going to defend your team and like I said - good for him. Good for Heat fans. But what fun is it for the rest of the league? I asked you before, why do you think everyone else hates James and the Heat? Do you really think it's jealousy? C'mon dude...you know damned good and well it's because the rest of us see how they are just trying to make it as non-competitive as possible - buying a championship. You're only fooling yourself if you think otherwise, and you definitely aren't going to convince anyone else here that it was anything but that.

LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

For the Bulls to get to the next level, they need to acquire another prolific scorer at either the 2,3,or 4-spot so that D.Rose don't have to keep carrying the team on his back. I would say that they need a center but a very good center is almost becoming extinct in the NBA. Besides, all of the big men who plays either the 4 or 5 would rather shoot jumpers instead of banging in the paint......give or take a few and I do mean a few....Money mouth

Nice chimp impersonation, LeBron.  What?  I didn't take the picture..  if he looked like Abe Lincoln, I would have pointed that out instead.

LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

rocket00
Again I see another poster saying he hasnt won anything yet.
1. 2 MVP's
2. has won ECF twice
3. has had best NBA record twice
4. Allstar every year he has played
5. gold medal

The only thing missing is an NBA title at this point. Saying he hasnt won anything yet is pretty stupid.
I guess Malone , Barkley, Stockton, etc.. have no business giving anyone advice either seeing none of them have won a title either.

Telling me that he shouldnt have gone to Miami because they have two other stars on the team is even a dumber statement than saying he hasnt won anything. Why wouldnt he want to go to a better situation than what he was already in? From your logic he should of stayed in Cleveland for everyone else but himself and his family or he should of went into the same kind of problem he was already in. Thats some pretty stupid logic.

His playing speaks for itself and as far as the NYY go they buy the best players for millions and while LBJ , Wade and Bosh took smaller payroll to group together. This is no where near the same thing. LBJ wasnt bought for a price tag nor did he go to a storied franchise with mass media. All he did was the same as many before him and joined a better group of teammates to get to the ultimate goal of a championship.
