LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

LeBron James says that the Chicago Bulls are "one player away" from an NBA championship. Posted by Ben Golliver.

When your house has ants, you call an exterminator. When your laptop won't start, you turn to the Geek Squad. When you want to build an NBA championship contending core? Well, obviously, you consult Miami Heat forward LeBron James.

James, having bailed the Cleveland Cavaliers to team up with Heat star Dwyane Wade and former Toronto Raptors star Chris Bosh, is looking like an expert on that subject these days as the Heat prepare to begin the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night.

After the Heat eliminated the Bulls from the Eastern Conference finals, the Chicago Tribune reports that James delivered a message to Chicago point guard Derrick Rose.
Before getting caught up in celebrating his team's series-clinching victory over the Bulls on Thursday night, Heat star LeBron James embraced Reggie Rose, Derrick's older brother, and whispered a few words in Reggie's ear.

"He said, 'Tell young fella he's a hell of a player and that he's one player away from a title,''' Reggie Rose said, relaying James' message.
James brings this advice knowing what has helped pushed him over the top but also having just picked apart the Bulls.

Really, we should read this as a philosophical declaration. James doesn't mean that Rose and the Bulls just need a solid shooting two-guard to fill out the rotation. He means that Chicago needs to add another star -- a player that can supplement Rose and push Carlos Boozer down to third wheel status where he belongs.

James is simply serving as a prosthletizer here: "I know your pain. I have walked in your shoes. Follow me to the Superteam light."

And, of course, there might also be a tinge of: "Look man, you're going to need some help if you expect to beat us."

LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

Why is he the one that should be forbidden to say it?

Because at this point he is not deserving of being the "answer guy" in the NBA. You know what I;m saying - the old wise great player who has perservered in the NBA and has EARNED the right to pass his wisdom to the rest of the leage. He is young, immature and hasn;t won ANYTHING yet. I also don't buy all the "acting" with the fun loving guy thing - the dancing around....he's kind of a spoiled brat with a big head.

LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

Heatfan 1977, being a Heat and Lebron Fan of course I agree but even if I was not I would still agree.  I really really do not like Kobe Bryant but he is a good ball player and he deserves the credit of which he has earned; I have never and will ever lose one second of sleep over this guy like all you Lebron haters do.  It just amazes me how no matter what this guys does someone always has something negative to say.  I can see the next headline, "Lebron James saves old lady from burning building."  Haters comments, "he only did it so she can vote for him in the All Star game or something stupid like that."  He is not God or a king, he is a man/human being like the rest of us with faults and mistakes just like the next person.  Move on!

LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

Here's what I dont understand about all of the comments in regards to Lebron James. First, everyone looks down on Lebron for "the decison". Dont get me wrong I think it was pretty far fetched and out there even as a Heat fan. But do you really think it was Lebron's idea to introduce is decision that way? In my opinion, probably not. Secondly, he stayed with Cleveland for what, 7 years? And he didn't win anything. Can we only blame that on one person. What about everyone else on that team? I mean Kobe's game 7 last year stunk, but he had a good enough team with him that he didn't have to play great and they still won. Lebron never had that luxury. And Lebron actually did something that wasnt totally about money. How can you look down on a man for putting stuff above money? How many people would have done that? Especially at 25 years old? Thirdly, as for comparing him to Jordan, Kobe, and other "great" superstars, they had help when they won their championships. I mean, everyone says that Jordan didn't jump ship, and instead brought a championship to his team. That may be true, but he didnt have to jump ship. He was given enough talent to be able to win. This is something Cleveland never really did. And as for Kobe, he may be a great player, but he seems to me to be the main person to throw up a shot even when he is triple covered. And remember, he also had Shaq during a lot of his runs for his championships. But enough of that subject, as for what he whispered to Derrick Rose's brother, it seems in all retrospect that it really was meant to be a compliment, saying that they are a great team and if they had that one more player to go with Rose they could win it all. People just want to hate and will use any means possible to justify the way they feel. It is sad. I root for my team, the Heat, but I'm not going to spread hate. To me, it is just a game and I don't take it so serious that it keeps me up at night. All right I guess I have said my peace. Enjoy the games everyone and remember its okay to not like players and teams, but there is no reason for hatred. We all make decisions in life that people dont agree with, but that is our decision, just like it was Lebron's. We should just all be respectful.

LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

He's trying to get other players to follow his cowardly act so the spotlight isn't on him anymore and he can say, "see everybody else is doing it so I'm not the only chump in the league".  Wow this guy is bad for basketball and all he is promoting is watering down the competition and quit fighting for what you want and take the easy way out when the going gets tough.  Some role model. "sarcasm"

LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

I love the way all you homos hate on Lebron, I freakin love it.  I love the way he won't stoop to you guys level and fire back with some comments to give you more fuel to add to the fire.  While you all sit back with your minimum wage jobs complaining about Lebron, he is making millions.  By the way, who led the NBA in jersey sales the year?

Iggy is not what they need, he is a similar player to Deng, plus 2 1st round picks? Ridiculous. They need a 2 guard and someone stupid enogh to take Boozer and his salary, though I doubt if it will happen.

footballplayer and montsho - the things that James said are not incorrect. I just don't think HE needs to be the one saying them.
I can respect that.  Just curious.  Why is he the one that should be forbidden to say it? He is an NBA player and would know better than a fan or commentator what another ball player may need. From the article it wasnt like he called up a press conference and announced it a la the "Decision".  Seems to me he actually is more qualified than most to render that particular piece of advise since he is actually living the results of his decision to do the same.

LeBron James to Rose: Bulls are 'one player away'

Seems to me, a Deng plus two first round picks for Andre Iggy from Philly, would help this team alot!
