LeBron James comments on the resignation of Jim Tressel at Ohio State.

Posted by Matt Moore

MIAMI -- Yes, LeBron James is still being asked about things in Ohio. Following a shootaround Tuesday morning, reporters asked James to comment on the Jim Tressel situation at Ohio State. Yesterday, Tressel resigned in advance of a new set of allegations that trace recruiting violations back to 2002 and beyond.  James, being from Cleveland, and a known Ohio State fan, was asked about it, because if there is anything tangentially related to James, he will get asked about it. About six times. When asked about Tressel, James was supportive of both the coach and university.

"He's done some great things for that university. It's unfortunate all the allegations and things that have come out in the past year," James said."Everyone in Columbus and Ohio knows how important, how great he was for the team and university.

James, for his part, is pretty supportive of the Sweater Vest and OSU:

"I wish him the best, and the organization. Hopefully the university will come back.  It's one of the best universities we have in America."

James understands what it's like to have everyone jump on you, but oddly, Tressel might do more to harm Ohio sports than James did, but Tressel will still be considered a God no matter what and James will still be the devil. That's what a difference a championship can make.

Consider what Eye on College Football's Adam Jacobi wrote Monday about the question of Tressel being "worth it":

The highest of highs. The lowest of lows. The situation's not quite over yet, but what amount of punishment would make Tressel's ten-year tenure not worth it to Ohio State? After all, the entire point of college football is to play for national championships and to beat the living daylights out of your rivals, and Jim Tressel did that in spades. Ohio State's on a streak of seven straight BCS bowl game appearances. Seven. Even if the NCAA hands down a postseason ban of a couple years--and there's not a whole lot about this situation right now that appears to warrant such a ban--is that really enough to put a cloud of shame over the Tressel Era forever? Would no college football fan endure two years' probation for 106-22 in the 10 years prior?
via Jim Tressel resigns; was his tenure 'worth it'? -

Makes you wonder if LeBron had won the title in 2009 or 2010 if the level of disgust, hatred, and envy would have been the same. We'll never know. But at least James isn't "repping 'The U'" or something.

Why is someone asking LeBron about Jim Tressel?

Did LeBron attend Ohio State? No.

Did LeBron play football at Ohio State? No.

Did LeBron ever play football for Tressel? No.

Has to go down as one of the most useless, asinine, idiotic questions of 2011.

It's only fitting that they would ask one Ohio fallen "hero" about another.  Not that I really care about what Tressell did, I just find it humorous.  Adrian Peterson had it right when he equated football to slavery, but he was wrong about the leagues.  He should have been talking college football, not the NFL.  Busting your ass for 3 years for the equivalent of nothing while scumbags like Nick Saban and Rich Rodriguez are allowed to be rich is disgusting.  Good for Tressell for setting up that situation.  Give the players something while the NCAA gives them nothing.

"Talk bout your new home .... not the one you turned your back on you punk"

Dude, what part of they asked him question are you having trouble with? What was he supposed to say? "Sorry.. I refuse to answer any questions about the state of Ohio, where I was born and grew up." I'm sure you would have been really happy with that right? I mean if you wanna hate on LeBron fine, just have a reason better than what you read into his reply to a reporters question. And seriously you haters, if you look at what he said, the part in the quotation marks, it's actually a pretty classy answer when put on the spot. Considering he gets alot of crap for being 'dumb' or whatever on here. And what's up with all the people saying they don't care what he thinks? Why did you even click on this link? It's obvioulsy about what LeBron thought about Tressel, if you don't care, why read it? And then why comment? Don't you think that makes it obvious you have an axe to grind and can't leave anything to do with a guy you claim you're not interested in alone? And what's the necessity of the 'I don't care about this' comment, I mean you cared enough to post. And do you really feel the rest of us need to be informed of what you're not interested in now? Can't you just stick to spouting nonsense about the things you are interested in? Cool

PARTYPIMP...Why are you calling him a punk and asking him to talk about his new home when REPORTERS were the ones asking him what he thought about the situation. Please read the whole article before you make bafooning and wreckless comments. I agree that no one should care about what he thinks about the resigning, but it WAS ASKED TO HIM FROM REPORTERS. Also, LeBron did not turn his back on anyone. Cleveland NEVER surrounded him with competitive talent. In the playoffs you need two minimum and probably three good to great players to win a title. Stop hatin...oh wait!!! That's your job; guess you're good at it "PUNK!!!!"

I hear Bernie Madoff says Donald Trump is a sound businessman.  Lindsey Lohan says Amy Winehouse is misunderstood.  Khloe Kardashian says Kim Kardashian has a big booty, Former Governor Eliot Spitzer says former Speaker Newt Gingrich says Tiger Woods says former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger says Speaker John Boehner says former Governor Mark Sanford says former Senator John Edwards is really a good husband.  Do you want Sarah Palin to declare you are her news source?  Do you want a lightweight guy with suspicious morals to endorse you as you resign as coach of OSU?  God help us if the Heat win the title.  LBJ will probably tackle the Middle East even though he thinks that is composed of Seton Hall and Villanova.

Suck it Harry. If you and the other jealous haters that have your panties in a bunch over LeBron for whatever reason would or could read, you'd see that LeBron didn't 'stand behind' anybody. A reporter asked him question, and he answered. Now another hack is trying to make a big deal out of it and get hits by typing it up like LeBron came out in some big show of support for Tressel when all he said was the he had done some good things for OSU and he hoped the program would get over it. Way to play into his hands ladies, have fun watching the Finals. Better get some cheese 'cause I know there's gonna be whine. Cool
