Miami Heat forward LeBron James tweets that God said it's not his time to win an NBA title after losing the 2011 NBA Finals to the Dallas Mavericks. Posted by Ben Golliver.

Shortly after the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Miami Heat in the 2011 NBA Finals, Heat forward LeBron James took to Twitter to explain what happened.

"The Greater Man upstairs knows when it's my time," James tweeted. "Right now isn't the time."

James finished with 21 points, four rebounds, six assists and six turnovers in 40 minutes in Game 6, as the Mavericks closed out the Heat, 4-2.

James, 26, is now 0-for-2 in NBA Finals trips. He also lost in the 2007 NBA Finals to the San Antonio Spurs as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. His Finals averages: 17.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.8 assists. For the postseason, James averaged 23.8 points, 8.6 rebounds and 5.9 assists.

This loss will largely be pinned on his shoulders. The Heat entered the Finals as heavy favorites, with three of the best four players in the series in James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Nevertheless, Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki and a solid supporting cast that included Jason Terry, Shawn Marion and Jason Kidd pulled off the upset in stunning fashion, closing out the series in American Airlines Arena, Miami's homecourt.

I wish he would stop calling himself King. The difference between him and Jordan is that Jordan would have taken over the 4th Qtr. Jordan would have willed his team to victory. The King looked more or less like a role player at crunch time, never taking more than 3 shots in a row.  Mister King, " You are no Michael Jordan".

I'm all for freedom of religion, but anyone that refers to God when it comes to sports is an a$$hole. As if God was rooting for one team or the other. Maybe you should decide your own fate Lebron, and not blame it on "the man upstairs".

What a loser, this is why people don not like him.  He is an over-rated superstar who has never won anything and thinks he is bigge than the game.   :cough , Cough"

to add to my previous comment, I am with most other posters here in saying he was idiotic to tweet that God had not planned on having him win this time round. If he truly believed this, he would have kept such thinking within himself as opposed to tweeting it to a half billion people. It truly comes across as a man who is arrogant as opposed to a religious man who opts for humility before God.

Wow, it's amazing how Lebron has become among the most, if not the most, despised athletes in professional sports. A few years ago, people were still in awe of his talent and his tendency to put up triple doubles.

By my count Lebron. "king of, I don't know, let's see, NOTHING", the Greater Man Upstairs scored a total of ZERO baskets for the Mavs. We all repeat the question to you again, "Why did Miami lose?" Mavs better team perhaps? Duh!!!!!!!!!!!!

Adrian

How is he a good Christian when he calls God a "man"?  God created man and God is nothing like man.  The fact that he calls God the "man upstais" shows how ignorant and pathetic he is.
