If you actually read the quote from Stevenson, he said "to me it hurts because that's not a way a champion should celebrate on his way home in Dallas".  He said nothing about having immunity or he shouldn't have been arrested...  These guys that write these columns know that most people are going to read a title and a few lines and then scream and yell about it.  Grow up.  He didnt say that is not the was a champion should be treated.  He said that is not the way a champion should celebrate.  I am sure that DeShawn was probably drunk and I am sure he was probably loud, but how many people aren't?  I see annoying people every day on the street and they don't get arrested.  

chawk91190, have you been to Vegas? Half of the people that's walking on the Strip are drunk AND holding some form of alcohol in their hands and nothing happen. Meaning that if you want to have a good time, walking drunk or whatever you want to do, as long as you're not bothering anyone on the Strip, have a fun day and night. How many times have you seen drunk people being loud to themselves and their friends but not bothering anyone? All the time. As long as DeShawn is not bothering anyone, the cops should have help him instead, call a cab, call the Mavs, they didn't need to take him to jail unless he was resisting arrest, which this is not the case. I'm just wondering if the Irving police and some of the posters here would have done and say the same thing if it was Dirk. I bet you guys would be singing a different tune. You guys are basically saying DeShawn deserve it base on his past and his looks, tatoos and all, but in reality, not for him being drunk. If what he did is really bad, than all the cops in every town has to do is wait outside the bars, there's hundreds of drunk people walking out of the bars every night and some of them even ended up driving to another bar or home.

gdtann, becasue the NEWS story, not garbage from sports media said they gave him a field soberiety test. ALSO in Texas police are REQUIRED to arrest any public intoxication, if they find is a danger to themselves or public...some drunk clown looking for his car (Stevenson) would qualify

"A Champion should never get treated like this", well a CHAMPION should not act like an A$$ CLOWN  either.  Classless punk cops picking on me , mistreating me, clown even had nerve to mention drunk drivers and child molesters....both fields of expertise for Stevenson. I live in Dallas area, anytime a criminal wants to splain his side (get out misinformation and lie knowing won't be called yo account by Channel 4 clowns) they appear on Channel 4 whose tagline is..we cover for more criminals then the Obama administration.

Ben was never arrested nor charged with anything.  

How am I an idoit?  No where in the story does it say they check his sobreity.  Just that he was arrested and 'looked' drunk and 'didn't know where he was' whatever that means.  It didn't say they performed a sobreity test.  Just saying.  Jeez.

The law is the law and he's definitely not above it just because he hit a few shots. He was walking around drunk in public and in Texas, just like almost every state, that's a cause to be arrested until they sober up. Otherwise it's a risk to have someone wandering around with no idea where he is or what he is doing.
