From Jerry Zgoda of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune on Twitter:
Spanish media contact tells me Ricky Rubio will hold a news conference tomorrow morning in Barcelona and announce he's headed to the NBA.
via Twitter / @JerryZgoda: Spanish media contact tell ....

Rubio's been rumored to be on the way for a while. A June 1st report indicated the Wolves had reached an agreement with the Spanish star, and a separate report Thursday indicated his U.S. arrival was imminent. Getting Rubio stateside, under contract, and on the roster before the draft helps the Wolves with both the direction their draft takes and their leverage in deals surrounding their No.2 overall pick or any combination of talent on the roster. The idea has been for Love and Rubio to spearhead the future of the Wolves, with one other player. The No. 2 pick gives them the ability to select that player in Derrick Williams. Now all they need is for Rubio to actually be as good as he was projected to be back when he was drafted, despite a down year in Euroleague play for FC Barcelona.

Meanwhile, the AP reports that David Kahn and Kurt Rambis are meeting this week... for the first time since the season ended. With that kind of communication going on in the front office, how can Rubio and Williams not be excited about joining the Wolves?

For anyone knocking Rubio, go to the last Olympics and watch him play for Spain.  Watch Spain vs. U.S.  The kid held his own against the BEST the NBA had to offer. He's young, good, and only going to get better!

I could not care less about Ricky Rubio. I don't know why, but I already don't like him. Maybe it's because people are glorifying him and calling him Pete Maravich when he only averaged 6.5 ppg this past year. I think he is alot of hot air.

As for the number two pick, why are they taking Derrick Williams? Do they have a PF? Yes, thats Kevin Love. SF? Yes, Micheal Beasley who averaged almost 20ppg last year. Where does Derrick Williams fit in in all of that? If I'm the Wolves, I take Enes Kanter. He seems like he is going to be a stud center in the future.

The decision.  Except European style.  He is just like every other prospect in every other sport ever, nobody really knows until you see them compete at that level.  The best at any of the big sports across the world aren't just great athletes or really skilled, they are that plus they compete at that high level.  If he does play in the NBA he better be ready to bring and don't discount the fact that European professional leagues are played at a high level and he got to play and get paid in place of college.

If he holding us in suspense (really?)  he is coming out.  Why is this a news story?  I know, I stepped into it and now I have to clean my shoes.  I am a fish and I got hooked.  I think Derrick Williams will be great, but after Rubio has done in Europe, feh.

Report: Rubio to announce NBA intentions Friday

The basketball world is having an orgasm over a guy who (I'm being generous) might be the next Tony Kukoc.  A nice player, but by no means a consistent All Star.  Settle down, people.  There have been a modest number of very good players that came over from Europe and turned out to be special players.  Not a lot.

Williams is an easy pick.  He is the best player in the draft and he proved it time and time again during the college season.  Had Williams not gotten into foul trouble against UCONN there would undboutedly been a differnt champion in college he is that much of a difference maker.  Williams adds considerable depth and height to the Wolves.  He can play off guard as he has the outside game plus can post smaller off guards and he can play both forward positions to spell either Beasley or Love.  Cleveland is going to regret passing over Williams.  There are five guys projected to go in the first round that Williams and his underdog Wildcats dominated.  He dominated both of the big men for Texas and the twins at Kansas plus he crushed Duke and Irving in the sweet 16.

I assume the first poster's thoughts are tongue in cheek, and honestly is probably the mindset of most wolves fans.  This franchise screws everything up, all NBA fans know that by now.  That would be a moronic move to trade the #2, #20 and Rubio to move up to 1, but it's something Genghis Kahn would prolly do b/c he is a 13 kid playing fantasy basketball w/ our favorite team.  I wouldn't be surprised if the Wolves move Rubio though.  I would move Beasley and take Williams at #2, or trade Beaz and the #2 in an effort to get Granger.  I think the Wolves want Kanter anyway.

Hopefully the wolves can trade the #2 pick. They already have Beasley and he has more talent and upside than Williams.
