Big shocking news here people: The New Jersey Nets are going to try really hard to get the best player in the 2012 free agency crop to make their team better.

I know, I can't believe it either.

According to ESPN.com, the Nets "intend to make a hard push for [Dwight] Howard in an attempt to convince [Deron] Williams to commit long term."

Basically, it sounds the like Nets are saying, "Hey everyone, we're going to try real, real hard to get Dwight Howard. REAL hard. You hear that Deron? Real hard."

It's what they have to do though. Mikhail Prokhorov and the Nets took a strategical risk trading Derrick Favors, Devin Harris and draft picks for Williams, without the sure road to sign him long term. It's clear that it's going to take a vision for a future contender to convince Williams he wants to be a part of it. Simply playing in Brooklyn in a nice, new arena isn't good enough. Players want to win. And getting Howard is an excellent way to win.

However, Howard seems to be very determined to remain with the Magic. But that's only if they do the same thing the Nets are and convince him that they have a plan to win. Howard wants to be a champion. And if that can happen in Orlando, that's what he prefers. But if he decides that isn't in the cards with the existing roster Otis Smith assembles, teaming up with Williams might sound like a fantastic plan.

It's no shock though that the Nets are going to be hot in pursuit of Howard. They better be. He's the cream of the 2012 crop and will instantly make whatever team he picks a title contender. He's a total game-changer. And not only do the Nets want him, they also want to show Deron Williams they're serious about getting him help. It's hard for me to picture a scenario of Howard choosing to leaving the Magic in which he doesn't go to the Lakers, but the Nets aren't a bad option.

You hear that Deron?

Sorry I cant see taking Howard in his prime over Shaq in his prime. Shaq would just completely overpower Howard.

Report: Nets to go hard after Dwight Howard

First of all, I truly dislike the commissioner, David Stern, and I hope when they get down to negotiating that he can be negotiated out.

I don't know what percentage of the owners also own hockey teams, but I do not see a lockout and a lost season like happened in the NHL.  I do know changes have to be made to protect some teams from themselves.  By that I mean a lot of teams, including my Olando Magic, get into cap trouble and have very little or no room to negotiate for F/A players.  I truly dislike Boston and Los Angeles (Lakers), but those teams have it figured out how to stay on top and very competitive.  I do see tough negotations with possible down-sizing to make the league better.  I hope there are good and meaningful negotiations that will protect the teams and still give players F/A rights.  What happened in Miami was a farce and I am glad they lost to Dallas.

Living in Orlando, I know we love Dwight Howard.  He is personable and does good things for the community.  I, along with the rest of the Magic fans want him to stay.  With that said, he will do what is best for himself.  I just do not want another Shaq episode where no matter what Shaq said, it was all about Shaq and his mind was made up to go to L A.  Shaq was good, but I will take Howard over Shaq given both at the top of their game.  Shaq had a pretty good team and I think he had more help than Howard.  Howard had no Penny Hardaway.  Yes, he had Vince Carter, but Carter was not at his prime like Hardaway.

Ok! Van Gundy looks like a Groundhog, Ron Jeremy, etc... etc... But He Wins!! Why Wouldn't he want to stay and play for him?!?! SVG Has been ejected from more games than Anyone!! For Sticking Up For His Players!! Why would he want to go play for Mike Brown?!?! Mike Brown talks behind his players backs!!!  And creates Drama! ( example: Brown vs. LeBron in Cleveland) DRAMA!! Perfect fit for L.A. !! But, NOT what Dwight wants! BTW, just an afterthought. But wasn't Brown fired from Cleveland, BECAUSE, he Couldn't beat Van Gundy and Doc Rivers?!?! Go Magic!!

When I stopped laughing at this headline, I decided to post.

They can offer him the moon, he isn't going to Brooklyn or wherever they'll be playing. Boris Badanov is a joke and the players know it. He should buy the Islanders. He'd do better in the NHL.

Howard is going to the Lakers. In fact, he might be there the next time we have basketball.

Report: Nets to go hard after Dwight Howard

Of course the Nets are going after Howard. But we all knew that.

The owners in the NBA are trying to totally reshape the league. Period. Different salary structure, giving teams an additional way to hold on to their key players, and balancing the teams so each team can realistically have a legit chance at the title. That's what's going on here folks.

That's why there is not going to be any basketball this coming season because the owners intend to break the players union. Don't believe me? Take note that atleast half the owners in the league own hockey teams in the NHL. And these same owners did it to the NHL and had great, great success and now privately they've told the other owners that if you tank the season, the NBA players union will cave and we can do to the NBA what we did to the NHL.

And there also is a consortium of owners who have also said that they don't want any more Labron situations any more. Owners were put off about how three players had a plan of where they wanted to go and orchastrated it. Owners are more upset about that then they are letting on.

Bottom line is...........we don't know exactly where Dwight Howard is going to go because the league is going to be waaaaaaaay different when the NBA comes back. My guess is that the league is going to fix it that over time, each team is going to have one major super star and that there is going to be more pressure then ever before for the front office of each team to find gems and diamonds in the draft that will put their teams over the top.

There will be a totally different NBA after this lock out. Look at the hand writting on the wall fellas.
