Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum has allegedly been caught parking in a handicapped spot. Posted by Ben Golliver.

Surprise, surprise.

Who would have guessed that a big man best known for spearing smaller guys out of the air would have the audacity to illegally exploit one of the rare benefits afforded to our society's most vulnerable citizens? (Allegedly.)

Yes, that's correct. Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum, who made headlines this season when he knocked Minnesota Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley and Dallas Mavericks guard J.J. Barea to the floor with hard fouls, has reportedly been caught parking in a spot reserved for handicapped or disabled persons.

NBCLosAngeles.com reports and displays photos allegedly showing Bynum parking illegally while shopping at a Bristol Farms Market in Playa del Rey, a beachside area of Los Angeles near the Lakers' practice facility in El Segundo.
The photos, provided exclusively to NBC4, were taken by an LA Parking Enforcement official at the upscale Bristol Farms Market in Playa del Rey. NBC4 questioned Andrew Bynum, 23, about the alleged incident as he was getting into his car recently. He slammed his car door and drove off without comment.

“It’s a terrible image and perception when something like this happens,” said Vito Scattaglia, DMV deputy chief, after NBC4 showed him the pictures.

The photos show Bynum loading groceries into a dark BMW convertible that is double-parked in a clearly marked handicapped area. Multiple available parking spots for non-disabled drivers and passengers are pictured in the near background, just yards away.

Shake. My. Head.

In other breaking news; Bynum was first identified by sportsline member LakerDukeYanks when he stated, "I know that butt anywhere, thats Andrew Bynum".

What do you expect. The parking lot is full and he would have had to park far away. The photo clearly shows no other spots are avaible. Plus, why do handicaps get their own spots? I've been told they "just want to be treated like a normal person", well normal poeple park in open spaces.

Bynum is first and foremost a Los Angeles Laker.  True Laker fans know that the Lakers are above the law.  Bynum has earned the right to park wherever he wants.  As long as the Lakers win, the players should be able to do whatever they want.  We should all be grateful the Lakers are here to begin with.  The media and the cops should apologize to Bynum if they had any realization of the level of disrespect they gave to Andrew.  This is ridiculous.  Suppose Bynum leaves the Lakers because of this?  Can they win championships w/o him?  Think of that the next time anyone bothers a Laker.  BTW, Beasley and Barea should apologize for their flops after Bynum walked by them.

I only wish that my wife who needs a handicap spot could have been on hand for this assinine decision by Bynum. You apologists don't get it with your lame defense of this jerk. My only hope is that Andrew goes down soon so he can see the other side of this equation. Oh wait; this clown does go down with regularity. I personally would have pissed on this a-hole's Beamer, then put my dog's crap in his back seat, and keyed this cat's ride and dared him to do something about it. Unless I was in mid-air attempting a layup, I really doubt this coward would do anything about it.

Yes, many people have done it, were there plenty of other perfectly legal parking spaces just yards away? That's like 5 steps for a big guy like him. This is just simply a famous athlete thinking he's above the law.

I have one question for the author of the previous post.  It is a point of observation that you must have clicked the link to this article to read about Bynum parking illegally.  If nobody cares about such behavior why did you choose to read the article.  In this world of Twitter, Facebook and phones with cameras every action a person makes in public is open to scrutiny.  That is magnified when some form of celebrity is involved.  When you establish yourself as a jerk in a public venue like an NBA game through unsportsmanlike actions, such as Bynum is noted for, you target yourself for further scrutiny.  There is a whole lot more interest in such things than you suggest.  If you truly don't  care... don't comment.

seriously matt moore. This is what sports reporting had devoloved into. Nobody cares if he parks in a handicappyed spot. THere are plenty of people that actually do this in real life. I dont condone the actions but i mean come on.
