Get out of the way, there's a kid comin' through.

Kevin Durant, amazingly, had never been to Rucker Park. He made his debut there Monday night, and needless to say, it went pretty well. From the New York Post:
Kevin Durant’s performance created an evening for the ages at Rucker Park.

“Some nights are very special,” DC Power guard Randy (White Chocolate) Gill said. “This is going down as one of those special nights.”

The Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star shook off a slow start and poured in an astounding 66 points to lead DC Power to a 99-93 win over the Sean Bell All-Stars in front of a standing-room only crowd at the Entertainers Basketball Classic on Monday night at streetball’s most famous park.

Durant, who led the NBA in scoring last season, connected on 9-of-11 3-pointers, including five straight from well beyond NBA range, early in the fourth quarter. The 6-foot-9 forward was mobbed on the court by fans standing along the sidelines after a fifth straight trey.

Boy, was he. From The Big Lead

Durant has played a lot of ball in the last month, after the Manila exhibition and his play in Drew and Goodman Leagues. He's becoming quite the streetball star this summer, now that he has time to actually play in them.

Kind of interesting that Durant was nailing those pull-up threes from deep, since it was that kind of shot exactly that he shouldn't have taken at the end of the Mavericks' series instead of working for a higher possession shot. Guess you can't blame the guy for trusting his range.

It was one of the highest scoring performances in the history of the legendary court. Durant should never return, either. Best way for him to make that night stick in people's minds is to never repeat it. Come in, drop 66, strut, leave in your car, never be seen there again. Legendary.

Best "Natural" in the NBA

No doubt, KD is blessed with the most natural ballin' skills in today's game. IF not him, who?
The dude is 6'9", can hit the 3 from waaay out, has handles, has the NBA's best nickname with "The Durantula", and can post up. If you're thinking he's not that great in the post, remember that he doesn't have to post up. Why batter your body to get inside if you don't have to? He takes the better option and hits the easy jumper. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention he can finish as well as anybody; power, grace, acrobatic, high percentage... This guy's got game.
I love that he can transition from the hardwood floor to blacktop without missing a beat.
I still laugh when I think of my shock when I heard Portland took Oden and skipped on Durant. Man that was dumb. How could you not see how much of an incredible talent Durant is, and that Oden's knees were a total loser? He was soooo slow. "With the first pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, the Portland Trailblazers select Greg Oden from Ohio State".  WHOOPS!!!
If you can ball like KD, you can get away with wearing a Sponge Bob backpack at a press conference.

I'm guessing you know that Rucker participants and guests have no education based on 1st hand experience?

Kevin Durant definitely put on a show at the Rucker.  Watching the video just made me laugh though.  It was more a shoot around for him after he got the ball because there wasn't much pressure on his shots.  The hilarious part was when he hit that last shot and the crowd streamed onto the court.  Hearing the one guy on the video say "I told you" about 20 times was great.

I'm with you though...pack 'em up and don't play again there...he will go down in history with the Helicopter and the Kings...
