Wade says the Heat lost because of hatred

I really wish Dwyane Wade would give this stuff a rest. Because for the thousanth time, he played the "Everybody hates the Heat!" card. Wade said the team "played off hatred" and he even took it so far this time that he blamed The Finals loss to the Mavericks on it.

Via the AP:

In an interview with Mike Krzyzewski on the Duke coach's show on SiriusXM Radio, Wade says "we wanted to win to spite people" last season, the first where he had LeBron James and Chris Bosh as teammates.

Wade continued, "I believe that's the reason we didn't win a championship."

Krzyzewski replied by saying, "That's why I love this guy."

OK, so far the reasons we've got from Wade why they didn't win was because of chemistry, because people hated them and because the media focused too much on them, because they just need a little more time together. So far not on Wade's list of reasons: Because the Mavericks were just better than them.

I don't think Dwyane Wade is an excuse-maker. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that's going to look for any and every reason why his team failed other than just looking in the mirror. But the whole organization needs to get over this stuff. They're trying to use it as motivation, I get that. But geez man, lay off it for a little while. Say boring stuff like "We just needed to execute better" and leave it at that.

Because really, all this does is make people dislike the Heat more. Nobody feels sorry for them when they brought it all upon themselves. They knew what was coming the second LeBron said those famous seven words. They knew what was coming when they had their dance party before the season started.

Win for whatever reason you want. To spite people, for yourself, for your family -- whatever. But just win. That's how you shut people up.

I love these multi million dollar athletes playing the persecution card.  Is it still considered playing a card if the person actually bealives the crap?  You lost the finals because your team was out played, and your coach was out coached.

Wade says the Heat lost because of hatred

Royce Young is wrong in this article.  Wade isn't blaming others for the loss.  He is blaming himself and his teammates for allowing the media and fans to affect their play.  He is taking full responsibility for the loss and poor play.  Coach K correctly understood Wade's comment, which is why he said what he said about Wade.

Wade says the Heat lost because of hatred

What a tool!!! When will they just admit that the Mavericks were better than them? That is why they lost the series!!!They are hated, they have a overhyped team that has a player who thinks he's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but only plays 3 quarters when he needs to be there for 4. I hope they never win one, that would be justice for all!!

Wade says the Heat lost because of hatred

What's perhaps even more bizarre is Krzyzewski's reply of, "That's why I love this guy."  I would think the more suitable reaction would be, "that why I hate this guy...and this team!"
Like Krzyzewski will say that to a guest on his show? Dream on.

The Heat lost because people hated them? Wow....suddenly Adrian Gonzalez blaming late games and God for the Red Sox' collapse doesn't seem as ridiculous anymore.

Wade says the Heat lost because of hatred

You say that Wade does not strike you as an excuse maker---and yet he keeps making excuses.  How many more excuses will he have to make until you start to revise your opinion of him?

In any event I agree with your advice that he should just keep his mouth shut and go out and win when the games do finally start up again.

They lost because Lebron crumbled, while at the same time Jason Terry was clutch!

...I don't get this, it seems like a giant non-sequitor.  If they wanted to win in spite of people hating them, wouldn't that logically have spurred them onto a championship win over the Mavs?  What's perhaps even more bizarre is Krzyzewski's reply of, "That's why I love this guy."  I would think the more suitable reaction would be, "that why I hate this guy...and this team!"
