The LeBron James Curse File: Oregon gets hit

For those of you uninitiated, we've been having a little fun with the idea that LeBron James is cursed, for whatever reason ("The Decision," karma, his various public-comments-related disasters, the voodoo doll, etc.). It's not serious, though that hasn't stopped people from losing it over the suggestion it might be. To review:

  1. He predicts the Heat will win multiple championships, then he "shrinks" in the Finals
  2. He extends a pre-existing sponsorship deal with Ohio State, then they undergo their biggest scandal in school history, resulting in the departure of Jim Tressel.
  3. That same agreement also brought in the University of Miami to the Lebron James Brand. Then there were the the allegations involving prostitutes and rampant violations and the downfall of the program.
  4. He became a partner with the same group that owns the Red Sox in buying the European football club Liverpool FC, and the Red Sox suffer one of the worst collapses in major league baseball history, as not only do they lose to the Orioles, but have the Rays come from behind to beat the Yankees, eliminating them from postseason play, which is followed by a Boston media report outlining all the ways the entire organization has fallen apart. Did we mention the general manager and manager of the two-time championship core also left the team over the debacle?
On Saturday night, LeBron James was in Oregon visiting the Nike campus, and decided to make an appearance on the Oregon sideline.

This picture was grabbed by @WhitneyKBlaine on Twitter, showing LeBron with the Ducks mascot.  The Ducks were in a position to move into the national title game after all the teams in their way outside of Alabama which already lost to LSU and Arkansas, who plays LSU next week. It took a remarkable set of failures to put them in position, but a win put them back in the driver's seat for a national title game appearance.

38-35 USC. That's the sound of a duck with a championship belt going down the toilet.

And to make matters worse:

We've tried to make it clear in previous posts on this subject we're just messing around. Maybe. Kind of. But seriously. The man appears and teams suffer inglorious fates and massive failures. He's the harbinger of FAIL. The Black Angel of LULZ.

This is all in jest but man, it has not helped for teams to be associated with the two-time MVP.

The LeBron James Curse File: Oregon gets hit

No such thing, LBJ as I recall did not play in that game, and having witnessed that let me say this if LBJ is cursed then Spike Lee is the second biggest jinks ever.  Everytime I see him at a big Yankees, Knicks, Jets game  we lose, and its not even close.  Spike please pick another team (New England, Celtics, Redsoxs) to root for, I go as far as buying your first year of tickets to those games as long as your not wearing any New York Team Logos.

LBJ has won before, although it was at a lower level he did win, so we can ignore the cursed reference, but spike has never won anything, anything let me say that again never won anything.

The LeBron James Curse File: Oregon gets hit

What you have is a product of a poor kid, who hooped like no one had seen. He was crowned before he was drafted. Maybe his grades wouldn't have got him to college, though I don't know that personally, I've not once beeen dazzled by in his intelligence or wisdom in his words or actions. The powder thing is just another "look at me!, Im the favorite of mommy and daddy, and everyone, wheeeeeeeeee, cough::cough"! The world is full of should haves, and our friend, bron bron is growing into a larger and larger mass of unrealized potehntial, and potential wont fill the gas tank on a Vespa

People that feel the world owes them something, usuaully find at some point that YOU, yoursef have to fill that account, the world gives you a starting balance of 0, even if you are a hoops automaton, and your words, actions (not on the court), and character determines if the full light of a star will be seen. This is what you get when you throw kids with a head full of mush into a HUGE Money machine, Wneh you are comfortable with a nickname like "King James", you need to check your ego. What is he King of exactly? Not the NBA, obviously. That's why I hate the NBA now.

Id rather watch College Players that may or may not have a shot at the pros play with smiles because they are playing and having fun, and they play as a unit. I came to know Milt Newton from the '88 Jayhawks Championship team. He worked during the summers at my dept there. The first time we met, I remembered saying, "I thought you were 6'6"?", he said "I wish". While an inch of height can make a huge difference in making it or not, he had the lousy fortune to be Drafted by the Lakers of Magic, Kareem, Worthy, etc....which all-pro was he gonna knock out of the rotation? Milt told me he had thought for sure that his performance in the tourney and especially the Championship would get him a good look by the NBA, but I don't think he ever played for another team, unless he went to Europe. Its a business of the Uber wealthy, and no matter how good you are, the NBA powers are vastly more wealthy than the highest paid player, and wayyyy more powerful than an 18 yr old with unreal talent.

As I really ponder the young man, I think his curse is believeing he is "King James". Until he gets over that, and gets over himself, he will remain a "Should Have".

I am no fan of James.  Articles like this are going to really mess the up the guy's brain.  It won't stop until he has a "Nowitski" kind of moment.  Remember that Lebron?  15 straight points turned your party into a real downer.  This won't stop until King James  does something similar.

This may be a dumb question (especially after seeing Lebron entered into a marketing contract with OSU), but could Lebron James go back and play football in college?  I have seen it several times that players leave straight from high school to play baseball in the minors and once they realize making it to the Big Leagues is not an option,  they go back to school and play QB (take for instance).  Could you imagine if this lockout continued and Lebron suited up for the Oregon Ducks at tight end next year?  It would be fun to watch.  PS- I know this would never happen, just wanted to see thoughts on if he's elidgable.

Curse? No.

This is just a byproduct of the fact that almost everything Lebron James is involved with receives media attention. Some of those things are going to go wrong. Thats life, not a curse.

Are you superstitious? It sure looks like it.

Sure.  Blame LBJ for everything.  (In jest of course.Innocent)
  1. He is an American citizen so he is responsible for the failing economy.
  2. He is in the NBA, so blame him for the failed negotiations.
  3. Don't forget he wore a Yankees cap in the ALDS and Cleveland beat the Yanks three games to one.
  4. As for the Ducks, they got their cloacas handed them in the LSU game.  He was probably in Jerry Jones box.
  5. Last Christmas day, LeBron was at the Staples Center.  That curse is why the Lakers lost in a blowout.

The bottom line is that LBJ is known to put his foot in his mouth doing things that will not help him.  There is no curse.
