CP3 knows Knicks aren't a realistic possibility?

It's good to know Chris Paul doesn't live in a dream world. Because everyone pretty much understands that there's absolutely no way he can force a trade to the Knicks, unless for some reason Hornets general manager Dell Demps is just enthralled with Iman Shumpert and Landry Fields.

According to ESPN.com, Paul "knows being dealt to the Knicks is not a realistic possibility."

Thursday, there was a report saying that CP3 had requested a trade to the Knicks. Already there's one report refuting that, but this one does the same.

"He has not asked for a trade to the Knicks because he knows the Knicks don't have anything to offer," a source said. "He wouldn't insult the Hornets by doing that."

But also this: "The source did not confirm or deny reports that a representative for Paul has told the Hornets their point guard wants to be traded to the Knicks, but league sources say team general manager Dell Demps will not take any action until he hears directly from Paul regarding his intentions."

This is how it works though. There's a back-and-forth, a lot of stuff being done in the dark and a lot of whispers one way and not the other. It's all a PR game. CP3 doesn't want to stay in New Orleans, especially if that roster isn't going to be built to contend. So he's trying to plan the best exit he can possible. Where it looks like he wanted to be there but just couldn't refuse the offer he got.

That starts by making sure everyone knows that he's not "requesting" a trade to New York, even if he really is.

With Paul very likely not re-signing with the Hornets, Demps would prefer to get max value out of him and that would happen by dealing him before the season. If CP3 has decided it's Knicks or bust, another team might think it could sway CP3 into re-signing there with a season in their city. As Matt Moore of CBSSports.com points out, Orlando could be that perfect one-year destination.

CP3 knows Knicks aren't a realistic possibility?

im not coming in here trying to hate. so all the new yorkers who see this please dont think i am. but all this talk about getting CP3? isnt there a cap in basket ball?? didnt amare AND melo BOTH get MAX contracts?? the big 3 in miami all took substantially less then a a max contract to play together. 2 max contracts on the knicks already. do you actually think Paul will take millions and millions less then melo and amare just to play in NYC? i dont think so. for anyone who knows, after the new agreement what is the cap limit now?? and even if it was raised how can they fit cp3 into the cap when there are already 2 nax contracts? CP3 will not be in new york, not even through free agency. the knicks just wont have the money to get him on a  max deal and then put players around him. heat hqad to take less then max all 3 of them and they still had crappy players around them. what do you think would happen with the knicks. the supporting cast would be even worse then what miami has. and anyone in their right minds that thinks melo is better then lebron or d wade is a fool. yes amare is better then bosh but not ALOT better. who do the knicks have now to trade for him anyway??? LANDRY FEILDS THOUGH??.  who wants him? he had a lucky year most likely and would not come even close to enticing NOLA to give up paul.

and talk about orlando trading for him?? who can they give up??? turk?? arenas?? jameer nelson?? jj reddick?? come on now seriously LOL.

come to philly CP3. philadelphia is just as "knowledgabla" as the ney yorkers, and we could give a good package of players for ya. iggy, lou williams or evan turner and 2 firsts(as long as an extension is involved. then we use the amnesty clause and drop brand and his 16,5 mill and sign tyson chandler or nene. or maybe sign caron butler to play the 3 and start our first round pick Vucevic at center

we were a very very very tough team to play against last year 3-13 start then went 38-28 with a young team. we will only get better. i know im probab;y dreaming on getting him or a guy like howard who i would rather have but its a possinility and i see the sixers trying and maybe even getting into a 3 way deal to land someone if they cant get one of the 2 big names.

iggy and brand will be gone this year though leaving much cap space and we already have a team on the rise, a young takented team with one of the best coaches in the league. we will only get better. the knicks gave away their whole team for melo last year and couldnt do much after that. sixers gave the heat a run for their money and was leading every game in the 4th quarter except the second game. they were just young and didnt have that finsher that the heat had(three of them actually).

good luck on getting things done knicks and good luck in the division, but withn our coach and our cap space looking like it will clear out soon we should be right at the top of the division by the 2013 season. the senior 3 in boston arent going anywhere anymore and i think the knicks threw all their chips into one guy(MELO) who is totally one sided in his game. only can play offense.

teams need defense to win and the knicks dont have it.....

good luck this year hopefully we can meet in the playoffs. :)

CP3 knows Knicks aren't a realistic possibility?

Well said Go.... fact is that the NBA is the only sport where the players have more power then the owners... you don't see that in any other sport... even baseball... sure the Yankees "outspend" everyone... but that is due to Seligs rules... a player demands a trade more in the NBA and gets it, and he demands a trade to a team of his choosing and still gets it? Wow... hope they let him walk if they don't send him for a solid package.... not the "best they will get bull$#it....

Dude you like the best team from every sport...you're opinion literally does not count...anyone who likes the celtics yankees steelers canadiens and duke basketball is not a true sports fan and should never open their mouths in any sport discussion, MSG is referred to as the Mecca of basketball, not necessarily the knicks, and that is because MSG is the greatest sporting arena in the world.

The knicks have been god awful the last 10 years I'll be the first to admit it...but when they were great in the 70's and 90's it was great for the NBA and now they are finally relevant again. Not every athlete is going to think the same city is the greatest city to play in or has the best arena...but there is a reason MSG is heard about the most.  Some of the greatest sporting events took place there, even the damn Pope went to MSG...
Go back to being a front runner and shut up.

He should just go to the Bulls or the Magic. The Magic would be the best place for him.

CP3 knows Knicks aren't a realistic possibility?

The Houston Rockets have more rings than the Knicks. So does Detroit. Portland and Milawaukee have as many (one) as the absurdly trumpeted New York Knickerbockers.

Actually, the Knicks have the same number of rings as Houston, two rings Embarassed. That being said, the Hornets need to get what they can for Paul; I just hope Paul holds out for the Knicks, even if he has to wait till next year for it. One can dream, can't he?

As in going out in the media and championing the Hornets to resign David West when he knows getting locked down by West's deal is ridiculous when Paul's agent is running around demanding trades.  Or even demanding a trade only to New York when he should be well award that New York has nothing but garbage to offer the Hornets.  A deal to New York wasn't enticing enough for the Hornets last year before the Carmelo Anthony trade, why would it be enticing now?  This whole "you can't lose him for nothing" stance is outlandish when, legitimately, Chauncey Billups and Landry Fields is nothing.  You get cap space by letting Paul walk anyways and Fields is a good role player who cannot replace your star player.  If he wants to leave, let him walk and leave it at that.

CP3 knows Knicks aren't a realistic possibility?

I wish someone would clarify if Paul really wants be in New York, or if he really wants to be on the Knicks. Honestly, a burning desire to be on the Knicks makes no sense. For all their pompous delusions about being the world's "mecca" of basketball, what have the Knicks ever done? Is there a more overrated franchise in any sport? The Houston Rockets have more rings than the Knicks. So does Detroit. Portland and Milawaukee have as many (one) as the absurdly trumpeted New York Knickerbockers. I just don't get it. One person that seemingly agrees with me is LeBron James, as he had zero interest in going to the big Apple. Someone explain.

New York is basically the capital of the world. Do you really need more of an explanation than that?  Oh also, the Knicks have 2 stars already and Paul would make them an instant contender. And Lebron is more of a loser then the Knicks are.

CP3 knows Knicks aren't a realistic possibility?

You are right longtimefan....people are swarming to come and watch games in the Carolinas and Indiana. Wow, CBS should shutdown your account for stupidity. Have you ever played a sport? (Excluding chess or swimming). NYC is the most knowledgeable sports town in the nation. Sorry if your Hoosier or Carolina feelings are hurt.

Let me guess, you live in one of the two above? Im guessing this hit home? Poor baby....grabbing a tissue now.

The knicks have pieces to trade -- they are named Melo and Amare.  I'd take CP3 over either of them.

Knicks trade next 4 #1 picks to get CP3 - it's a Knicks tradition (thx Isiah) - oh wait, the Knicks have to get garbage for those picks....
