Lakers mad about the Chris Paul Clippers trade

The Lakers are mad. Their roommates just walked in and ate their leftovers out of the fridge.

Chris Paul eventually found his way to Los Angeles, but not to play in forum blue and gold. Instead, he'll have on the red, white and blue representing the Clippers.

And the Lakers are mad as hell and they're not going to take this anymore. Or at least they want people to know they're a little perturbed at the way this whole thing was handled. Via the L.A. Times:
The Lakers were privately fuming Wednesday, according to a person with knowledge of their front office, when Paul, the New Orleans point guard, ended up in Los Angeles six days after the NBA vetoed the Lakers' trade for him.

Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak declined to comment through a spokesman but earlier this week said the NBA's blockade was "completely unexpected."

"We did the best we can to express our displeasure," Kupchak said Monday.
The Lakers do have a reason to be angry. They completed what they thought was a good deal with the Hornets, sending Pau Gasol to Houston and Lamar Odom to New Orleans in exchange for Paul. Hornets general manager Dell Demps signed off on it, at least according to initial reports. It appeared that it was all a done deal.

But the league swooped in, vetoed the deal for "basketball reasons" and everyone was left to figure out what just happened. Including the Lakers who then traded Odom to the Mavericks for a lonely trade exception.

So let's recap: The Clippers get Chris Paul to team with Blake Griffin and the Lakers deal one of their best players for a piece of paper. I don't really know who the Lakers should be more angry with -- the league or themselves. Because the reality is, the Clips had much better pieces to complete this deal. The Lakers didn't have much.

It seems like common sense that the Lakers have more up their sleeve and will make a likely run at Dwight Howard and if that happens, they should be thankful the league saved them. Because Howard with Kobe is much better than CP3 and Kobe. But the Lakers don't want to hear about that right now because CP3 is with the Clips, the Magic pulled Howard off the market, Lamar Odom is gone and the Lakers are left with their hand in their hand pointing a finger at the league.

What a strange, strange turn of events.

This is how Stern works. Do you remember last years playoffs when JJ Barea got slammed by the Laker idiot. Payback is a bitch. Stern interferes with way too much and in which none of its his concern. The lakers are going to have to pull off a shocker if they want to contend in the west. Superman is available still right? The lakers are like the yankees of the NBA. Not so much the winning part but the buying the players(championship) part. And btw CP3 isnt that great and he won't turn the clippers into a dynasty or anything like it. They will be competitve and thats it.

David Stern needs to retire. His run as commissioner of the association should end and the league should go in a new direction.

Stern should retire before we have a 5th NBA lockout during his tenure. People want to hype Stern because of how he grew the NBA in his early years as commissioner. But the reality is Michael Jordan entered the NBA the same year Stern was made commissioner of the league. Lets face reality, the NBA was going to explode with or without Stern because the greatest and most exciting player in the history of the league (MJ) was going to take the NBA to new heights. Giving Stern credit for the growth of the NBA is like giving the commissioner of the PGA credit for the explosion of golf's popularity when Tiger Woods entered the tour. Stern was just lucky enough to become commissioner when he did and take credit for the NBA's success. Do all fans a favor David Joel Stern and retire!

Stern needs to be fired... no matter how shitty a deal is, he shouldn't interfere. The Hornets have a history of trading/releasing great players and keeping their franchise crappy. From Larry Johnson to Jamal Mashburn... Baron Davis and now Chris Paul. If Stern is going to interfere with anything to do with New Orleans, they should just eliminate the team entirely.

Stern needs to be removed because he isn't doing much for the NBA players. Get someone that knows about basketball and doesn't have a weak heart, when it comes to allowing teams to trade for a better future.

I sympathize with the poor Lakers. 1st you get Shaq in his prime which got you 3 championships. Then you get Pau Gasol for NOBODY in the most one sided trade in NBA history that gets you 3 title appearances in which you win 2. And now you are crying because you didn't get Chris Paul?

Let me speak for everyone who isn't a bandwagon Lakers fan.

OUR HEARTS FRIGGIN BLEED FOR YOU!!!!! Please donate all tissue paper to the poor Laker fans cry a river right now.

WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Odom, Scola, and Martin are all better than anybody N.O. got in this deal. The Lakers and Rockets are both hopefully filing charges right now.
