The failed Chris Paul trade, the departure of a trusted teammate and the dissolution of a decade-long marriage.

If that wasn't enough, the hits keep coming for Los Angeles Lakers All-Star guard Kobe Bryant

The Orange County Register reports that Bryant sat out Lakers practice on Thursday due to a torn ligament in his right wrist. The paper reports that Bryant said he "should be fine to play" when the Lakers open their regular season by hosting the Chicago Bulls in Staples Center on Sunday.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Bryant called his wrist injury "swollen and painful" but later added that, "It's always been in my nature to try to figure out a way to play."

The injury kept Bryant from action during Wednesday night's exhibition 108-103 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Bryant sat on the team's bench wearing a large guard on his wrist.

The Lakers first announced the injury in a prepared statement on Wednesday.
Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, who suffered a right wrist injury in Monday night’s game against the Clippers, was examined today by Dr. Steven Shin of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic and underwent an MRI exam.  Results show that Bryant has a torn lunotriquetral ligament. Bryant will not play in tonight’s game against the Clippers and his status is day-to-day.
Bryant played 30 minutes in Monday's 114-95 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, tallying 22 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and committing 7 turnovers.

Bryant, 33, did not miss a game during the 2010-2011 NBA season. He's missed just 16 combined games over the last six seasons.

Kobe Bryant: I'll play Christmas despite wrist

I cant believe Crunch--time is talking smack about Kobe's injury. Big Ben is always injured, and the Steelers fans are always talking about how tuff he is.  Big Ben is a tough guy, much tougher than most.  He doesnt leak his injuries and neither does Kobe.  They are by far the tougher guys in their sports, so shut your hater mouth and enjoy watching Charlie Batch this weekend.  Go Lakers!!!!!!  Kobe if you are hurt, rest, we need you in the playoffs.

MVP! MVP! MVP! MVP!  yes folks get ready for the Staples Center yelling it. because Kobe is one of the toughest and greatest player of all- time and certainly the clear best in the game right now. the guy is a beast and can lead his team greatly through injury ( the finger injury all year back in the back to back finals days- which are coming again. like this year and next. Kobe will win the MVP in the regular season and the finals. go Lakers!!

Kobe Bryant tears wrist ligament, misses practice

The pre-excuses are already starting for Kobe, is he a "warrior" or what? He loves to leak all of his minor injuries and ailments to the media. Most players just suck it up and play through it, Kobe needs to be a drama queen. He does this every year so he can look like he's hard as f**k if he wins and has an excuse when he loses, or produces sub-par stats. That Kobe, always thinkin.

Excellent post and I completely agree!

Kobe Bryant tears wrist ligament, is day-to-day

Day to Day?!  Funny, that's how his wife described Kobe's faithfulness.  He was just a day to day husband, a day to day serial cheat, and an all around jerk.  More money than morals, a blue print for living a really shallow life.
