The failed Chris Paul trade, the departure of a trusted teammate and the dissolution of a decade-long marriage.

If that wasn't enough, the hits keep coming for Los Angeles Lakers All-Star guard Kobe Bryant

The Orange County Register reports that Bryant sat out Lakers practice on Thursday due to a torn ligament in his right wrist. The paper reports that Bryant said he "should be fine to play" when the Lakers open their regular season by hosting the Chicago Bulls in Staples Center on Sunday.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Bryant called his wrist injury "swollen and painful" but later added that, "It's always been in my nature to try to figure out a way to play."

The injury kept Bryant from action during Wednesday night's exhibition 108-103 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Bryant sat on the team's bench wearing a large guard on his wrist.

The Lakers first announced the injury in a prepared statement on Wednesday.
Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, who suffered a right wrist injury in Monday night’s game against the Clippers, was examined today by Dr. Steven Shin of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic and underwent an MRI exam.  Results show that Bryant has a torn lunotriquetral ligament. Bryant will not play in tonight’s game against the Clippers and his status is day-to-day.
Bryant played 30 minutes in Monday's 114-95 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, tallying 22 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and committing 7 turnovers.

Bryant, 33, did not miss a game during the 2010-2011 NBA season. He's missed just 16 combined games over the last six seasons.

Kobe Bryant tears wrist ligament, is day-to-day

Two things....

1) We all know Kobe did not beat his wife.

2) He did not hurt that wrist playing ball... it was writting checks for his wife.

Bad jokes aside... hate the guy (maybe 'cuz he's a Laker)... but you've got to respect the talent.  I think the most interesting thing to watch is how he adjust mentaly as his skills erode.

That's right 99 Rams. Stop living in the past.  The greatest show on turf is done.  What a downward spiral your team is on. First to certainly worst in only 12 years.  Maybe Kobe did have something to do with it.  I can't connect the dots at this point but i know he was involved. OJ too. I don'y know but it has something to do with LA I think :)

@Gambler, don't you remember OJ was out on every golf course looking for the killer as he said he would find the real killer........his search came to an abrupt end when he was incarcerated in Nevada for kidnapping, extorion and robbery though.

OJ Simpson was aquitted as well Mr. Rams 99 (Kellen Winslow). You think he was innocent as well?. Probably.  You sound like a naive one to me.  Certainly insecure. No other reason to call people morons on the web when they can't see your face.  I would say a real nerd to be sure. Keep up the bad work hater.

Wow, Richyrich...........pre-excuses, I 've never even heard of that before, how long did it take your little brain to come up with that one?  Kobe has played through more injuries than any player I know.  If you want to address drama and fake injuries, how about Paul Pierce in the finals against the Lakers..........he needed a wheel chair to make it from the locker room to the bench but then miraculously was able to run up and down the floor moments later?  When I say run the floor I am overstating what he did, he certainly played no D, so he ran half the court.
As for leaking injuries, are you kidding me?  Kobe can't take a step without having a report shove a microphone up his as$ or in his face.  If the injury is being over blown, it is the media doing that.  Any time Kobe is not on the floor the questions begin about possible injuries.

Do not be a hater, just because the media doesn't even bother to follow the Raptors because nobody knows whose on the team and they are a great arguement for contraction.

@frozen chicken, if you are going to make a bold statement, be sure to know what you are talkiing about.  There has never been an accusation that Kobe beat his wife.......cheating on her has been brought up (thus the pending divorce).

Why would you be rooting for someone to sustain a career ending injury?  That would be like me rooting for you to get hit by a car when you cross the street next so you can't work or celebrate the holidays with you family.

Classless might just be the appropriate name to use for yourself.  Punishment should fit the crime, whatever it is.  If you break the law you pay for it via money and/or incarceration, not by having a career ending injury.  In you case, your ignorance should be punished by taking away your ability to post here until you can write something of value and with some truth behind it.

I'm not even sure if Kobe's alleged rape case went to trial, wasn't there an out of court settlement?  I digress, isn't this story about Kobe's injury and when he'll return?

Kobe's injury should take a few weeks to heal.  Whatever time Kobe is out, will be bad news for the Lakers.  I am not an NBA fan at all, but I surely appreciate the impact on a team when its leader is not on the floor.  Clearly the Lakers go as Kobe does, when healthy they can beat anybody on any given day, with him out........they have no shot.

MR. 99 Rams is right. Kobe did not beat his wife.  He just raped a chick in Colorado a few years back for the record. I'm glad Lance Alworth there clarified that. Good job.
