NBA reduces Bynum's suspension to four games

Here you go Lakers, the NBA's throwing you a bone after that whole Chris Paul thing.

The league announced Friday that Andrew Bynum's five-game suspension for trying to decapitate J.J. Barea in the playoffs has been reduced to four games because of the shortened season.

Charlie Villanueva, who was serving a five game suspension as well, will have his reduced to four too. Villanueva was suspended five games last season for an altercation with Cleveland's Ryan Hollins, but only has to serve three more games as he already sat out one last year.

It's a completely fair move by the league, as a five-game suspension in a 66-game season equates to a little more than six games in a regular 82-game season.

Pretty important development for the Lakers though, as Bynum's suspension could've potentially started the team out in a bit of a hole. Kobe's got an injured wrist, there's no Lamar Odom to fill in at power forward while Pau Gasol plays center, so without Bynum, the Lakers could really be hurting. While he still have to miss four, just getting one back is a nice Christmas present from the league.

NBA reduces Bynum's suspension to four games

When that moron David Stern realizes that 2012 is a leap year and has 366 days, he'll lengthen it  a couple of games. Seriously tho, bad decision. If it were a 50 game schedule would he miss any time? Maybe get paid a bonus instead?

Another reason Stern needs to go. THe NBA has lost all its credibility.
I don't think it's that big of a deal that Bynum suspension was reduces by one game, If he don't regret his action by being suspended for the first 4 games. Then one more game won't matter much, I do think that Bynum should get a better fine.

Joke league

A man tries to dacpitate another man out on the street and the judge only makes him pay a fine because the end of the world is coming in 2012. Way to go Stern. NBA is a pathetic, sad, not even a little humorous joke. NO WAY I WATCH ANY OF IT.

NBA reduces Bynum's suspension to four games

The Lakers need to learn how to play without Bynum, for the injury is coming.

NBA reduces Bynum's suspension to four games

Was not a cool thing to do at all butit is what it is and karma has a way of coming back to someone. Maybe since the season has been shortened then the penalty was shortened. Hopefully a lesson was learned either way. Peace basketball fans.

I disagree with the reduction of the penalty from 5 games to 4. First, Bynum would have had to give up 5 games worth of salary, so it reduces the financial penalty. Also the foul was a dangerous and flagarant attempt to hurt another player. Reducing the penalty sends the wrong message. Play like that cannot be tolerated, and frankly a 5 game suspension was a light penalty. What it does to the team he played for is almost irrelevant. If the team he plays for (no matter who that is) hires and plays a guy that plays thatb way, they should suffer the consequences- no matter how long the season is.

NBA reduces Bynum's suspension to four games

  • I'm not a Dallas fan.
  • I'm not a Lakers fan.
  • I'm not even a big NBA fan anymore.

This is retarded!  A shortened season is NOT a mitigating circumstance.  The season was cut well after the punishment was dealt.  What the heck is going on with the NBA upper management?
