Sunday's game for Kobe Bryant was so very Kobe Bryant. He went just 6-28 from the field and scored only 16 points. But he also made history.

Kobe became the youngest player ever to 28,000 points with a free throw in the third quarter. Kobe is 33 years and 131 days old. Kobe is now one of six to have reached at least 28,000, but Kobe needed 1,109 games to reach the mark. Wilt Chamberlain did it in 825 games, Michael Jordan in 886, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1,008 and Karlm Malone in 1,070. Shaquille O'Neal is the sixth player to score that many.

Kobe came into the league straight out of high school, so he got a head start in terms of age. He's the youngest, yes, but he's also needed the second most games. There's a key difference in youngest ever and fastest ever.

He won't ever reach Kareem's record of 38,387 points, but should climb into the top five this season. He's currently sixth all-time behind Shaq, who has 28,596. Kobe has 28,012 as of today.

Kobe's Sunday night is almost a perfect illustration of how scorers live though. He couldn't make anything, and yet he still scored points. Scorers score, even when they can't, if you know what I mean.

Doesn't really matter his legacy is already cemented as one of the best all-around players and scorers in NBA history!!!

Even the biggest KOBE haters cant argue with that comment.  He IS one of the best to play in the NBA.  He IS one of the best lakers ever!  Maybe its Magic, Maybe its Kareem or Wilt...that is a really good debate.  Kobe or Shaq or Magic, Wilt or Kareem.  All greats all HOF'ers.

BUT that is it.  Kobe is not the best NBA player ever.  Hes in top 10-12 Ever FOR SURE.  But Michael is superior.

Kobe is a hall of famer. Is he as good as MJ.......no. But is the talent pool better in today's NBA....yes! He may pass MJ, he may not. Doesn't really matter his legacy is already cemented as one of the best all-around players and scorers in NBA history!!!

To el, I'm going to give you one comprasion. Do you think Brett Favre will be remembered like John Elway? Hey Favre broke a ton of records. It doesn't matter how you put it it still took Kobe way more games to surpass the record then some of the legends mentioned. Kobe is great but he won't be remembered like Jordan nor Wilt. Just my 2 cents.

I'm going to use one comprasion for you. Did you think Brett Favre will go down as a legend like John Elway? Hey he has broken a ton of records though. Kobe is a great player but I don't see him being remembered like Jordan and Wilt. Regardless if he brokes the record or not it took him way more games to get there.

Does anyone use spell check before posting any news? Where is the editor? "Karlm Malone"

Was supposed to be "Karl M. Malone". Mailman is his middle name. Tongue out

FEWER games. FEWER games. Lead-in on the NBA front page should say 'fewer games.'

K-B 140GAMES * 20PPG= 2,800 (28,000+2,800=30,800)  = 30.800 between and the next year
                                                                           M-J   =32,292

he will need   -1,490-  this will be in 2 years  if he stays in 20ppg I assume that it will be in a 70th game or less that is if he doesn't get in the playoffs with some games on the playoff we will get more points and fewer games.

30,800 140gm this and next year and next year his going to be 34.  ok follow me lol  when he gets to his 36yrs with 140gm scoring 20ppg 2,800 + 30,800= 33,630  tha's a total of 140*2= 220games in 4 years remember this is without playoff games.

kobe bryant 1,109 games right now  220 more in 4 years total of 1,329 games.

kobe is 33 years old he will and going to surpass michael jordan when he is in the middle of his 36yrs  there's some one that is sayng that kobe will never surpass michael im points jajaja that's a joke  i have the number right here its enough proof that he will have more point than MJ he will have more games than MJ i dont care if KB has to play more games to beat MJ in points a record is a record no matter if he is the youngest or the oldest or the more games in history.

i can be incorrect or correct but in 4 years he will have 6 or 7 rings  mabe he will have his 6 but oh my god if he can get 7 that will be history and i know that kobe can doi it.
