She is about to get half.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Los Angeles Lakers All-Star guard Kobe Bryant will likely be on the hook for $75 million or more in a divorce settlement with his wife, Vanessa, because he did not have a prenuptial agreement. The couple announced that they were filing for divorce in December.
The apparent lack of a prenuptial agreement -- coupled with 10 years of marriage -- will likely significantly increase the size of Vanessa Bryant's divorce settlement with Kobe Bryant, legal experts said.

Some estimates put Kobe Bryant's net worth at $150 million. Legal experts said Vanessa Bryant will probably receive at least $75 million in addition to ongoing spousal and child support.

The fact the marriage lasted 10 years gives Vanessa Bryant several advantages under California divorce law. After passing the 10-year mark, attorney Dmitry Gorin said, a marriage is defined as a lengthy one, which means the spouse is allowed to maintain her standard of living after the split.
The couple has two daughters, ages 8 and 5.

In a prepared statement issued to the media in December, a representative of the Bryant said: "The Bryants have resolved all issues incident to their divorce privately with the assistance of counsel and a Judgment dissolving their marital status will be entered in 2012."

According to Basketball-Reference.com, Bryant has earned more than $196 million in salary during his NBA career. Bryant is on the books for $25 million for the 2011-2012 season, tops in the NBA according to Forbes.com, and has an additional $57 million owed to him in 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 combined. SI.com reports that Bryant makes at least $10 million per year in off-court endorsements.

Report: Kobe Bryant to pay $75 million in divorce

It's sad to say, but this is not the first and won't be the last. I read recently where Shaq's ex-wife was quoted as saying " Grant Hill is thee only married man in the NBA that doesn't mess around". Wow! The wives keep their little circle of who's doing what with whom. The Steve Nash situation was about the messiest I have ever heard of. Now, I am not saying that this is the case with Kobe, but I have a hunch. I am a good husband, but men, lets put our seleves in an athletes shoes. Could you handle that? I cant truthfully answer that. Everything is at your fingertips. Mostly everything! There is almost nothing that you cant aquire! Even women. To this day, Chris Webber has never married. I think that I would have took that route. Back to Steve Nash. He was married to a very beautiful model. Drop dead gorgeous. Well it was rumored that he had a twenty something girlfriend. In the meantime, she was rumored to having a affair with a ex- Sun. Get this, the day after their child was born (or whom ever child it was, still trying to find that out), Nash left and filed for divorce. CRAZY!!!! And we all know about Tony Parker, Brent Barry, and his wife. Former teamates. Crazy! Now thats going above and beyond. The four of them were good friends. Wined and dined together. Money has a way of making people go bananas. Yeah, I would have done the Chris Webber thing.

The guy gets the short end of the stick?  Hah!  Kobe and Tiger and the other unfaithful husbands who had trophy wives never should have married.  Then they wouldn't have lied, broken vows, and paid for being players off the court and the fairway.  It is funny to hear the complaints, calling the women gold diggers...
Maybe some of these women believed their husbands were ready to be one woman guys.  Next time, don't marry her!!!  Next time, know yourself better.  If you don't like monogamy don't get married.

Complete BS....Didnt know she played in the NBA too!  Lets see, what did Tiger's ex-wife do with her $$ (THAT SHE DIDNT EARN A DIME OF....IN THE SPAN OF JUST, WHAT, 4 YEARS OF BEING MARRIED)....BULLDOZE a perfectly good 20+ million dollar home. How can anyone defend the wife here.....THIS IS ONE REASON WHY THE SYSTEM AND AMERICA BLOWS!

I understand why divorce law is written like this, but 75 million seems like a ridiculous amount, i'm sure she could maintain a perfectly fine standard of living with 25 million, especially with alimony she'll be getting, which is probably also upsurd....

Not to upset equal righters (who really should agree with me if they were truly about equality), but is anything dumber than a partner getting half of her or his successful spouse's money? Based on what? Kobe has spent his entire life in a gym working on his craft. As a result, he's one of the two or three best basketball players in the world. He would have been so with or without his spouse. Vanessa Bryant grew up to be a hot chick with big cans. That's worth $75 million? And support going forward? Does someone that was chipped off $75 mill really need monthly support? It really is one of the dumbest laws I could ever imagine, yet it's blindly enforced at all times. Sometimes perfectly valid prenups are even tossed out so the talentless spouse can get more money. Why???

After the public embarassment she went through with Kobe's sex scandal and actually sticking with the guy I'd say she earned her money more than any of the other women that have divorced celebrities and atheletes. It's bad enough that he was cheating (which they pretty much all do) but to have it play out in the national media would be the worst.
