OK, so now all of a sudden Dwight's OK with Boston. This is getting hard to keep track of. For months, it's been assumed that Howard would not consider Boston on his list of teams to go to. Multiple reports have indicated he's expressed that he will not re-sign there if traded to the Green Team. But now there's different information... from Howard's own mouth.
And if Howard is still available — if the Magic don’t blink and move him before the March deadline — C’s president Danny Ainge will undoubtedly put in a call to Team Dwight.

The question is whether he’ll answer.

“Always. Always,” Howard told the Herald. “I’d always listen to a team like that.

“My thing is I want to win. It’s not something like I’m doing this for money. I win. I want to do it my way.”

There may be two problems for the Celtics in that last paragraph. Howard may question whether the club can win with him, Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, a collection of minimum salary veterans and a few children. And his “way” likely means a bigger stage.

This does not mean that Boston is at the top of, or near the top of the list for Howard. He's made his choices pretty clear. But Boston has continually dogged him in the playoffs. Joining them would be joining an organization all about winning, who he knows will be able to build around him. He'd likely have Rajon Rondo as well, since the trade package would probably include the Big 3. The Magic have reportedly been looking for veteran players who can help them win now instead of younger players. If they want old guys, Boston's got them.

(Side note: Please try and imagine Rajon Rondo's surliness next to Dwight Howard's effusive jolliness. Unintentionally funniest duo ever.)

But Howard hasn't been all about winning. He's not targeting Chicago, which gives him the best chance to win a title. He clearly wants the money and fame that comes with Los Angeles or New York. If winning is what matters, you don't put the Nets at the top, no matter how good Deron Williams is. The Celtics are a long shot, but Howard would listen to the offer. From there it would come down to Danny Ainge and if he could pull off the sales job of his life.

The media is running this hype machine ... not Howard.

Howard seems to simply give one word answers when asked about the situation.

Again, be fair and don't throw HIM under the bus.

Stop the madness! Its not fair to Magic fans. After all, without them, where would you be?
Well, in all honesty, if he had never played for the Magic, he would be a superstar in that city too ... and that's where he'd be.

There's nothing special about what the residents of metro Orlando have done that any other city wouldn't have.

The thing that this article doesn't mention is that the Celtics still have the Bird rights to KG and Ray, so they can resign them to any amount of money they are willing to pay without it counting against the cap provided they are under the cap.  KG and Ray come off the books at the end of the season - that's 30 million off.  If they sign Dwight Howard to a max deal, they will still be under the cap, so they can resign KG and Ray to whatever they want to give they- in theory they could give KG a max contract as well.  Look at it this way, they could give DH a max contract and resign KG for 10 - 15 million for one or two years and resign Ray for 5 -10 million for two years.  That's a championship caliber team.

Are you nuts brandon , the Celtics have Rondo and Pierce under contract for next year , they can throw any amount of money they want at him and like it or not like the yanks in baseball , canadiens in hockey , he celtics are the team in th NBA .. I would rather see howard in brooklyn , but if he joins the celts he will be king of the east coast and one of the top marketing players ever , it would be a very smart move on his art and the celtics also .... Makes alot of sense thats probally why it wont happen. Lol

I would listen to the celtic?!? Are you kidding me!? The Olando Magic will listen to any and all offers, not the player. David stern has allowed thi to get completely out of control.  Since when do PLAYER decide where they play? When you have a system where there are MAX money, then the player will always call the shots and THIS IS JUST WRONG! The NBA needs to reform this ASAP because right now the collective bargaining agreement is a absolute JOKE!!

he could come to the timberwolves and be our center and get play with love, williams, rubio, and beasely for three years and win a couple titles in minnesota
I really hope you're kidding??!! They'd have to trade for him, meaning they'd take one or more of those four guys you mentioned(depending on who they traded for) he could play with. Next, IF they were to play together, they'd have to sign him in free agency and everyone knows D12 isn't coming up north the frigid, small market, Timberwolves.  Don't get me wrong, I like the Wolves, but let's be realistic.

Dwight Howard must be crazy Celtics are an old team and not much talent outside of Rondo.  He has more talent in Orlando, Celtics have the tradition but they will be bad for a while if not already.
